Horrible experience dealing with Trip.com and this Hotel. Just pray that your flight isn't delayed and you arrive past your scheduled check-in time because they close and there is no way to get in. We waited outside for 30 mins, ringing the bell. We call Trip.com and they were useless. We had to book another hotel and pay out of pocket so that we wouldn't be stranded on the streets of Guatemala City late at night. When we finally got a call back from Trip.com they said that the hotel refused to refund us our money and they said that they waited for us all night, which was an absolute lie.

I just checked out today after two nights. Once you are inside the house is spacious, both the common areas and the room. It is an elegant old house lovingly looked after. It is clean and the breakfast is good. I don’t know the other areas of the city but there seems to be a consensus that wherever you stay in Guatemala City you should not walk alone after dark. I have found it very straight forward to walk to the central square, the market and various shops. Well recommended. I am a retired 63 years old from UK travelling solo.

This family-owned place is calm and cozy. The staff were very welcoming. The area is very walkable during the day. Highly recommend!

Hotel is on a busy street with no parking in front, so loading and unloading luggage is a challenge. Once inside, it’s extremely comfortable and spacious. A salon and garden to relax in. Casa Carmel is located quite close to the Historic Center, and is only about 2 blocks from the pedestrian mall with restaurants and shops. My only disappoin**ent is that they do not have parking as advertised. I was instructed to park around the corner (during busy rush hour). Aside from this mix up, the room and breakfast was pleasant and comfortable

My stay was exceptional. I thoroughly recommend this beautiful, comfortable, well maintained, stylish house. Communication for the airport pickup by my host was so easy and she was there waiting, driving me past locations to familiarise myself and giving great advice on the drive. The house is a beautiful ex spanish colonial place. So well maintained and kept, it just feels like a mansion but so comfy and welcoming. The two house assistants looked after me like I was family, ordering me Ubers, arranging breakfast times and choice (I recommend the omelette as they were wonderful, as was all other options). Advice on where to go, shopping stores etc was so helpful. Sophie the host arranged a great coach ride into Antigua for me from Westin Camino Real. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated in that dark wood, highly carved ex-colonial style, clean, comfy bed, great shower and wifi. All was so good. It was a hot week and although I knew the room didn't have air con, they lent me a fan and that was more than enough to keep cool in eve. Lovely garden and I adored relaxing in the comfy sofas in the stylish lounge. Walked to centre from here in 20 mins, stores nearby, Transmetro bus round the corner and lots of eateries nearby. I would stay again in a heartbeat as everyone went the extra mile to look after me - that kind of personal service is not found in big hotels but here it is the norm!

The house is lovely. The rooms are fine and all is very clean. However, the noise from the main street in front was disturbing. The staff was attentive and the breakfast included was substantial. The garden in the rear was a lovely oasis. I would return here.

Incredible staff and wonderfully charming home. Would it have traded this unique experience for any of the fancier hotels in Guat city.
