The attention to detail and friendly staff make this hotel one of the most enjoyable we have stayed in. We visited a couple of years ago and decided to return and were not disappointed. Little touches like a glass of sparkling wine to enjoy on the patio and a drink coupon for the bar are a real treat and good business planning. The room was well appointed with mini bar, coffee for the room with little treats provided. The only change from our previous stay is that you now have to pay additional 15 Euro fee for a room with a bathtub. This is worth it however when you have arthritis and need to soak your muscles after long walks on cobbled streets. Bar staff were great, friendly and helpful with local recommendations and willing to chat when they have time with patrons. Bike rental costs were considerably higher this visit so we didn’t bother however the area is easy to cycle with many trails nearby. There is good transit and train service if you want to go into Amsterdam but prefer the quieter pace Haarlem offers. This hotel is a good location just on the outskirts of the historic centre and by a city park with nice walking trails. We hope to be able to return one day.

Wonderful hotel just a short 10-15 minute walk from center or bus stop right around the corner of hotel. There are lots of shops and great restaurants just a few minutes from hotel. The staff was super kind and helpful. Our room was a perfect size. The bathroom was a bit small, but shower was great. I wish I had upgraded to a room with a balcony or view. Our view was the office building next door. Will remember that for next time. We totally enjoyed the free mini bar, which was restocked each day. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and the food was great. We did not have breakfast at the hotel. Thought it was a bit over priced.

Hotel is centraal gelegen. Genoeg parkeergelegenheid nabij het hotel (betaald parkeren). Personeel van het hotel was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De kamer was keurig schoon, zo ook het sanitair.

Lovely hotel out of the noise and bustle of Amsterdam; easy access from this hotel to downtown Amsterdam. Location is central in Haarlem and transportation to/from the airport is easy.

After studying TA reviews in Haarlem, we chose the Carlton Square Hotel and were really glad that we did! The room was spacious, clean, and well-prepared, with a large bathroom and full amenities. We found Haarlem charming and so much easier to navigate than Amsterdam that we changed our hotel reservation and booked extra days at the Carlton Square after a few days in The Hague. Upon our return, we were warmly welcomed, and it felt like we were coming home. The breakfast buffet provides a full start to the day, and there are bakeries and grocery stores within easy walking distance if you want something lighter on your own. There is also an excellent full-service restaurant in the hotel, with room service for extra convenience. A bus stop just around the corner provides rapid, inexpensive transportation to the Haarlem train station, and you can even take an easy bus to Haarlem directly from AMS airport, making Haarlem and the Carlton Square a great option for a comfortable, warm stay in The Netherlands. I would return in a heartbeat!
