Amrath Grand Hotel Frans Hals

We had a 3-day/2-night stay in Haarlem. We were recommended Haarlem instead of Amsterdam by a friend and this could not have been a better choise. The town was beautiful with its cafes, shops and restaurants. The hotel was a 12 out of 10! Good location in Haarlem town, 10min beautiful walk from airport bus or trainstation. We requested a room from topthe floor, quieter side. We got a beutiful room from the top floor. Yes, we heard the church bells, but it did not matter. The room was clean, had a skylight window and a small openable window. Spacious, good beds and pretty bathroom with a tub. The stairs leading to the hotel so pretty I have never seen. The breakfast was perfect. Wide selection, calm atmosphere and generally beautiful room with art everywhere on the walls. I absolutely will and already have recommended this to my friends.
Hotel Lion d'Or

This is an an excellent hotel with easy access to Amsterdam. We travelled on the RNet bus from Schipol airport directly to the hotel. The railway station across the square from the hotel gives you 30 minute access into Amsterdam. Also great access to Haarlem a lovely town a mini version of Amsterdam without the crowds. The rooms are clean and modern. Staff very helpful and cheerful. We had a very relaxing 3 night stay here. The only negative the hot breakfast scrambled egg bacon and sausage needs to be kept hot it was cold and on cold plates not great. Good choice of continental foods breads waffles etc.
Carlton Square Hotel

Beautiful hotel with friendly staff and spacious, clean room. The restaurant was great as well, along with the included hot breakfast every morning. The only thing odd was the balcony room looking down over the wide open bedroom in the apartment next door. We could see the person sleeping in their bed.
Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem

Stopped for breakfast before my appointment in Haarlem. Bus stops are directly before the hotel (you'll see grocerystore and a gas station) but you will need to walk to main traffic lights a few mminutes away (go to right when facing restaurant windows) and then turn left to get to main hotel entrance & parking - hotel is surrounded by a sort of moat. Thank you for the walking adventure Van der Valk😆 Once inside you can get to restaurant a floor above via escalator. Greeted by host - confusion over confirmmed reservation as it was not immediately visible. Quickly found and cleared up. My reservation was 08:30am on a Friday. Not really busy at this timme. Lots of window searing available. Huge windows so even if not directly seated ( on opposide across) you still have a ”window view”. Staff member clearing tables was off the bat -first to give greeting and friendly short banter. Breakfast buffet is unbelieavably i***ressive with a mmind boggling array: good coffees, juices, smmoothies and mmore than your standard buffet offerings. On top of this -fried eggs, omelets being prepared by cook station. Sparkling wine included if that is your thing. Sure is mmine!!! A fantastic deal for €18,50 per person! I was able to catch up with Anoushka -meeting & events staff!!! A wonderful and esteemed colleague - we worked together a few years back at a co***etiror hotel. So this in particular mmade mmy visit even mmore special! I can absolutely reccommend Restaurant Van der Valk in Haarlem as a goid deal for breakfast. As I go back and forth to Haarkem frequentky -I will mmake it a point to stop in mmore often - breakfat and lunch. Don't mmiss out!!!
ibis Styles Haarlem City
4.1/566 Reviews
The hotel is located on the outskirts of Haarlem, a good 35-minute walk to the central square. There is very little around it in terms of shops or cafes or restaurants. So calling it ”Haarlem City” is a bit of a stretch! It is a 12-minute walk (through a nice residential area) to Bloemendaal train station, which makes it quite easy to get to Amsterdam. Haarlem's main train station is about a 25-minute walk from the hotel. The rooms are comfortable and good size. But (and this is a big but!) the hotel was built right next to a big sports centre and if your room faces north it will block your window as it is literally in front of it. This is a really poor design choice, it makes affected rooms feel claustrophobic. This is something the hotel should make clear at the time of booking. Parking in front of the hotel costs 7.5 Euros per night. Given its non-central location, you would expect parking to be free. So mixed feelings overall. Nice and spacious rooms, but the issues I mentioned above detract from the overall experience and value for money.
Hotel Carillon

Spent a few days in Haarlem recently and stayed at the Carillon hotel at the Grote Market. The location of the hotel is very good, as the market square is attractive and historically interesting. And it’s where most people in the area gather to socialise, so there are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. However, the hotel itself is disappointing. There is no proper reception. To book in you have to call into the restaurant which adjoins it, where one of the bar staff will deal with the paper work and then hand you a bill for the tourist tax! While I realise that the hotel is not responsible for this charge and that it’s down to the local authority, I still resent giving in to blatant extortion. Our room was at the top of two flights of stairs, the steepest I have ever encountered. And although it was clean it was also a bit run down. The electrics were very `Heath Robinson’ and there were no facilities apart from a television that didn’t work. The beds were uncomfortable and walls thin enough to hear those in the next room stomping and crashing around till the early hours. The en-suit had clearly been designed by a lunatic. It was incredibly small. You couldn’t open the shower door fully as the wash basin was in the way and you would have to be a contortionist to use the toilet. Would we stay at the Carillon again? No.
