If you wish to add meals or have any dislikes or allergies, please contact the hotel 3 days in advance. After getting off the tram at Hakone Yumoto Station, you can take a taxi for about 5 minutes or a bus for about 10 minutes to reach the Yamanochaya Onsen Ryokan. Get off at the third stop "Kamitazunozawa" by bus, and walk along the uphill road for about 1 minute until you see the Yamanochaya Suspension Bridge on your right. After crossing the suspension bridge and going up the slope, you will reach the ryokan. ※The nearest tram station to Yamanochaya is "Tazunozawa" station, which is an unmanned station on the mountain. Due to the mountainous path, it is recommended that guests with heavy luggage take the tram to Hakone Station first for convenience. Nestled among bamboo forest deep in Hayakawa valley through a suspension bridge, it is a tranquil hideaway inn that proudly offers hot spring of which water is retrieved directly from its own source and serves monthly Kaiseki cuisine.Show More

Yama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good) The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned. The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed. Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage. Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.

I stayed at Yamanochaya for three nights. It is my favorite hotel in Japan. The decoration is in a nostalgic traditional Japanese style. There is a small bridge and flowing water outside the door, and various wind chimes can be seen everywhere. style sliding door. All staff wear kimonos to receive guests. Strong Japanese style. The room is in tatami style. It has a private bath. It is simple, clean and hygienic, bright, spacious and comfortable. During the day, sit on the floor, drink a cup of tea and soak in the hot spring. It is extremely relaxing for the body and mind. Get rid of the fatigue of the day's journey. In the evening, I tasted an exquisite kaiseki meal in the room. While I felt full, it also satisfied all my expectations for Japanese food. It was exquisite and delicious! Japanese-style Michelin is well-deserved. The hotel has a private butler specially equipped for each room. At the beginning of your stay, he will familiarize you with the hotel environment, introduce the room facilities, prepare breakfast and dinner for you, make the bed and prepare sushi 🍣 for midnight snacks. Come back in the afternoon, make tea and water, and serve it to you Small snacks. Attentive service. Feeling at home. Pure and thoughtful Japanese butler service, Michelin-level top-notch kaiseki cuisine, a comfortable and quiet environment, and your own private hot spring, it is a near-perfect stay experience. But there are two more suggestions to make. 1: I hope the hotel will arrange a special car to pick up guests from the train station. This is an indispensable service. Since it is positioned as high-end, it is also aimed at high-quality people. The details must be done well. On the first day we took the suitcase to the hotel, it felt very... Poor. Special car pick-up service is required. It is free of charge. 2: There is noise in the room, which affects rest. It needs improvement.

I experienced the Japanese style of staying and eating for two. The hotel is very convenient. It is three bus stops away from Hakone-Yumoto Station. It is about a hundred meters walk and passes a suspension bridge. The service at the hotel is also very good. I told them that I was not sure about the distance from Hakone to Lake Kawaguchi the next day, and he immediately helped me with a guide, including every step of how to transfer to public transportation, and printed out the public transportation timetable. , also providing an estimate of the price if using a taxi. After much consideration, I chose a taxi. The hotel was very considerate and helped me book a taxi, then put all our luggage in the car and put us in the car. Regarding the services in the hotel, it goes without saying that the private bath in the room is very comfortable. The hotel also provides several public baths, one of which can be reserved for solo use. I made a reservation for my parents to enjoy it. . The kaiseki cuisine for dinner and breakfast also had super good service and the food was very good. We were all dazzled by each dish. My parents always praised the food. It is also very child-friendly and my son also said he liked it very much. All in all, for me, everything is perfect except the price. I will go there again next time.

If you book the Yamanoberry, the room comes with a private hot spring. In addition, the public hot spring can also be reserved for private hot springs at a certain time in the evening. The hotel is on the other side of a suspension bridge. There are bus stops on both sides of the suspension bridge to get to Yumoto, Gora and Corsair Motohakone Station. A little further up the mountain from a fork in the road is Tonozawa Station of the mountain train. The service is very good, there are female staff who can speak Chinese and English.

A very good value for money hotel. First of all, the hotel is not far from Tonosawa Station, which is one stop away from Hakone Yumoto. It takes about 10 minutes on foot. Passengers who buy a free pass can get on and off here. Walking from the station to the hotel, you will pass through a mountain path with beautiful scenery. Secondly, the hot spring water is great. Both indoor and public baths are very comfortable and very Japanese. Third, the meals are delicious and rich, and you can eat all you want. Late night snacks are also provided. The room rate may seem expensive, but after deducting the market price of the meal, it is actually not expensive. Fourth, the service attitude is great and very user-friendly. For example, a warm baby and an umbrella are prepared at the door. If you forget to leave something in the room, you can drive directly to the station, etc. All in all, a great experience. Will choose next time.

It was a great pure Japanese experience. I spent more than an hour eating Kaiseki cuisine in the morning and evening, especially for dinner. After eating the ten dishes, I told the little brother who served me that it was enough. The room with the private hot spring bath is really great. I slept very well and was very quiet. It is suitable for bringing the family to experience it. It is not far away and the bus stop is only a two- to three-minute walk away. The transportation is also convenient.

Stunning ryokan with world class service. If you are lucky enough to be able to visit, I could not recommend it highly enough. I was brought to tears from the hospitality and care that was exhibited throughout every experience. During check-in, we were able to reserve a private time slot for one of the baths. The onsen left our skin so soft! If you’re not familiar with ryokan and onsen, I’d recommend watching some videos to brush up on some basics. The staff does a wonderful job guiding you regardless. Take a taxi from Odawara Station if you’re not driving in with your own car. Getting dropped off by the bus on a winding mountain road was scary! The staff at Yama-no-Chaya thoughtfully helped arrange our taxi before we checked out. Thank you to Takeshi and the Yama no Chaya staff for taking such good care of us. We hope to stay again!
