Setsugetsuka ★★★★
"Fantastic location next to Gora Station with easy access to Gotemba premium outlets via bus& Cablecar to Lake Ashi. Kaiseki breakfast and dinners were thoughtfully planned and different each meal. So many free snacks and food at different timings. Private outdoor onsen was wonderful as well. Note: you have to queue for any of the 3 huts. Only thing we didn’t like was having to shower outdoors and the dated toto bidet. Other than that, perfect 2 night stay at Hakone."
FUJI OUTLET Natural Water HOTEL ★★★★
"Older hotel with authentic yellow hot spring water!"
Hakone Yutowa ★★★★
"Excellent range of buffet items for dinner and breakfast although variety does not change too much from day to day. The outdoor foot spa and warm fireplace were a delight on a cold wintry day. Rooms were spacious and comfortable."
Yoshiike Ryokan ★★★★
"Stunning Historical Garden: The absolute highlight is their massive traditional Japanese garden. It feels like walking through a living postcard, with beautiful ponds, lush trees, and streaming water. To our surprise, we were greeted by fireflies at night while strolling after dinner. The natural hot spring water here is top-tier. We get almost 24-hour access to the relaxing indoor and outdoor baths (rotenburo). Soaking under the stars after a long day of exploring was pure bliss. Prime Location: It is incredibly convenient—just a flat, easy 7-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station. No need to haul heavy bags up steep hills. The service is warm, welcoming, and attentive. The rooms are beautifully kept, offering that authentic, peaceful ryokan vibe. Traditional Japanese Breakfast. Dinner is a multi-course, traditional Kaiseki feast served right in the restaurant, which beautifully overlooks the illuminated evening garden."
Hakone Yumoto Onsen Hakoneji Kaiun ★★★
"amazing stay! love the vibes and tranquility around the hotel. sleep to the sound of the river if you book the japanese style room. and amazing and clean onsen facilities too."
Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu ★★★★★
"The hot spring was very comfortable, and the environment was excellent."
Tenseien ★★★★
"The hotel environment is elegant and comfortable, and the rooms are clean and tidy! The customer service is warm and thoughtful, making for a perfect hot spring hotel experience. The buffet offers a wide variety of dishes and is highly recommended! 👍"
Fuji International Hotel ★★★
"The tatami room was really spacious! 😂 It's a hotel run by Chinese owners, so communication and shuttle services were incredibly convenient. They even helped us book a car in advance to take us to Lake Yamanaka for maple leaf viewing. I was really impressed with this service! On the day we checked out, they drove us to the bus station at Lake Yamanaka, getting us there just two minutes before the bus departed – quite the close call! We rented electric-assist bicycles from the hotel, and it only took 10 minutes to cycle to Hirano Beach. It was super convenient for catching the Mt. Fuji sunrise in the morning."
Tsukino Yado Sara ★★★★

"Absolutely amazing stay at the property. From the very beginning customer service was great. The onsen in room was just what we needed. Dinner was great and breakfast was plentiful, left both feeling completely satisfied. Drink service and snacks after dinner was a nice touch as well. Will absolutely recommend to friends and family and will come back in the future"

"The worst hot spring hotel I've ever stayed in Japan!!! And it's the most expensive. It should be the worst hotel recommended by Tirp. What kind of collusion is there? The equipment and facilities are old and aging, the room is filled with a strong pungent musty smell, which makes people cough violently and difficult to fall asleep. No one answered the hotel contact number marked on Tirp! It is also very inconvenient to get to the hotel. There is no courtesy at all when picking up and dropping off guests, and the attitude is completely indifferent. It is a world of difference from the hotel I stayed in the day before. Except for the food that is still online, I will give this hotel the title of the worst. In short, the hotel that Tirp strongly recommends on the App is extremely unfriendly and bad behavior."
Ishinoya Izunagaoka (TKP Hotels & Resorts)
"Service: Very good. I suddenly wanted to have dinner at the hotel that day and they made me a delicious set meal. The room was also good and comfortable."
Sanyo-so
"Hmmmmm where do I begin. From the moment we arrived to the second we left, we could not have had a better time. The private onsen is the highlight of the trip. The spacious room and the beds on the beds they were so comfortable that we had had looked up the supplier and paid a visit to their store in Tokyo. Would definitely stay here again and totally worth it."
Hakone Forest of Verde
"Nice hotel and quite not to far to everywhere. Also they have a free shuttle bus to Gora Sta."
HAKONE YUYADO ZEN
"This onsen hotel is simply amazing, especially considering the price. Everything about it was excellent. The Nepalese staff member who checked us in spoke fluent Japanese and English and was incredibly warm and attentive. The other female staff members were also wonderful. We booked a room on the third floor with a view of Mount Fuji, which was absolutely fantastic! The only slight disappointment was that the creative kaiseki dinner wasn't as mind-blowing as I had hoped."
Fujiya Hotel
"Beautiful hotel, loved everything about it, from location to the hotel staff, next time will stay longer, the Japanese breakfast was truly amazing"
Hotel Okuyumoto
"Fabulous hotel in hakone Great private hot springs bath in room Very spacious room Fabulous food. B Breaks"
HOTEL nehako
"The best place in Hakone. Everything is close by. There was an issue with the free shuttle upon check-in, but this is due to the fact that you can't contact the hotel directly, only through Trip.com support. We made the most of it upon check-out. In the room we were assigned, we discovered in the evening that there was no hot water. The next day, we were moved to another room. The onsen are wonderful – there are communal ones, which we went in the evening and were alone in, and there are private ones – they are small and more like jacuzzis. We liked the communal ones better. They provide yukatas and a basket – very convenient for the baths. The Japanese-style breakfasts are unusual. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available almost all day, and coffee machines are located on all floors and are available at any time. There is a grocery store nearby. There are many good restaurants near the station."
Musashino Bekkan Hakone
"A true Japanese experience. The onsen was amazing, we were a family and loved it. We also had a great experience with breakfast and dinner, very Japanese! Totally recommend it"
Hotel Green Plaza Hakone
"Hotel location is good connection to obako ropeway station. 3 min walk from the back of hotel. Good dinner and breakfast wt a lot selections."
Hakone Retreat Före
"This was my third stay here. Last time I stayed for about a week, but this time it was just two nights. I appreciate the casual atmosphere more than a luxurious one, which I think is a good thing (even though it's a bit pricey for me). The building, rooms, and location truly offer an experience and an escape that's worth more than the price. My only suggestion for improvement is regarding the restaurant's dinner menu, which only offers wood-fired dishes and French courses. If there were à la carte options or individual dishes, solo travelers like myself could enjoy the food more. The taste was good, though I understand preferences vary. As for service, the plates were cleared a bit too quickly – it felt like they wanted me to leave sooner. While not all foreign staff were problematic, there were times when language barriers made for unpleasant experiences. However, the Japanese staff were consistently wonderful, providing excellent service and kindness. I was particularly impressed by a staff member named Kondo; I'd try to poach them for my own company! Overall, it was another great stay, thank you! And I was pleasantly surprised to see a deer in the backyard, haha."
Mount View Hakone
"This hotel offers a luxurious Japanese-style stay with a dinner and breakfast plan. Both meals are high-quality Japanese cuisine, and you can also reserve a private onsen (hot spring). If you're visiting Hakone for a two-day, one-night trip, I highly recommend staying here. On your second day, you can take a bus directly to Togendai to catch the pirate ship and the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani."
Odakyu Hotel de Yama
"This hotel has an old-school charm. There's a free shuttle bus from Moto-Hakone Port Platform 6 every 20 minutes, and the service is excellent. Even when we came back late at night, they arranged a bus to pick us up. We chose the Japanese-style breakfast and dinner, and the food was delicious."
Hakone Kowakien Miyama-furin
"Best place to stay if you want to go to Hakone loop. It is only 4 mins walk to Yunnesun."
Diamond Hakone Society
"Nice hotel in a beautiful forest and lovely onsen with a spirit of history."
