Hotel Indigo was recommended to us by a co-worker. She raved about how much she enjoy her stay, so we decided to visit for our Anniversary. We loved everything about this hotel from check in to check out, everything was amazing. The hotel staff always made us feel welcome, by greeting us (by name most of the time) whenever we were out and about in the hotel. Hannah checked us in. She was nice and provided us with information about the area. We had the breakfast included in our stay. The restaurant manager Koji-san was awesome. While not a picky eater, I do like my eggs cooked a certain way...lol.. On the first day of breakfast, my eggs were not cooked to my liking. When my plate was taken, Koji-san noticed that I did not eat my eggs. He immediately came to our table and inquired about the eggs. I told him that they were too soft for me. He apologized and asked if I had enough to eat and said that he would like to try again the next morning. I thought this was such a kind gesture. For the next 4 days, my eggs were cooked exactly how I like them. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It is a bit pricey, but the chef is very good. The salmon and asparagus were my favorites. Our anniversary was on the 22nd and we received a call from the front desk asking if they could bring us a gift for our anniversary. They brought us an assortment of sweet treats, which we enjoyed with a cup of tea. Very sweet. Our room was spacious, clean with the perfect temperature. The television was the largest that I have seen a Japanese hotel. Our room was on the riverside with a private outdoor onsen. While relaxing in the onsen, you can hear the calming sounds of the river. There is also a foot soak in the garden area. it was a bit to cold outside for me, so I didn't get to enjoy it on this stay. The hotel was cleaned thoroughly and safety precautions were taken. All of staff wore masks and for breakfast, we were provided with gloves to get continental items from the buffet. All tables were wiped down immediately after a party left and were socially distanced. The hotel is in close proximity to just about everything. During our 5 day stay, we visited The Open Air Museum, the Venetian Glass Garden, Gora Park, and The Red Gate of Peace. We will definitely be returning and look forward to our next stay in the Spring.

I was seeking a ryokan with private onsens and the willingness to accommodate my primarily vegetarian dietary habits. I chose Hakone Gora Byakudan and was extremely pleased in every single way. We were a little on the early side (around 2:00 in the afternoon) when we asked someone at an information desk by Gora Station to please call the ryokan and ask if they could pick us up (as we had been instructed). Within 5 minutes we were picked up and brought to the beautiful ryokan, removing our shoes upon entry. The room was fantastic. We were in ”hako”, just off the lobby. The space was perfect! And we loved the privacy of the onsen. Both dinner and breakfast were served in a small private dining room. They indeed served me a vegetarian meal with many courses. My husband had some meat or fish in his meal and they provided us each with separate printed out menus. It was truly fantastic!

I visited for a walk in the morning at the location adjacent to Hakone Shrine. Lots of green. A promenade full of flowers. A promenade on the shore of the lake. You can see Mt. Fuji beautifully, and you can also see pirate ships passing through Lake Ashino. The silence as if time had stopped. The chirping of small birds is comfortable. I was surprised to stay at a resort where the speaker was wired, but I don't need such a small work here. Hotel to enjoy hotel stay. The customer feels like a repeater is quite, a little elegant and noisy, old, gentlemen, ladies 々. It's not a place for noisy young people to go. The food was a long-established hotel, so I chose Western food. There were many reviews that Japanese food was good, but because it is a hotel, the food is elegant and a little on a large plate. Is delicious. I wonder if it's not enough, but it's enough. Upgrade of main dishes that are common in cheap hotels these days. It was also here. The course was changed to Hoho meat grilled Wagyu beef steak and brand beef steak. The chef served hoho meat, so I didn't change it, but it was an elaborate grill, but after all, hoho meat was hoho meat. I should have upgraded. It's a simple story, but I think the main dish is Japanese beef steak without discounting. 〇〇 Great deal at sale! I will stay there because the guide will come from the travel site, but I feel that every hotel is having a hard time with the main. Then, I wish I had stopped selling. The ladies I met in the hall were highly praised for Japanese food. Next time, if I can come to the flowering season, I would like to try a Japanese restaurant.

One of the best hotel I’ve stayed throughout my Japan trip. Service was excellent. The room and the bathtub was good and really comfortable. My partner and I felt the dinner and the breakfast was really good. High quality ingredients and lots of variety. I would recommend going to the open air public onsen to check out the view (when it is not foggy).

This hotel is a historic property set in an iconic setting. We stayed in the Forest Section which features large, comfortable rooms that were a little dark, the bathroom lighting could be improved. Here is my issue. We arrived around 1:15 and we’re told that we could check in at 3:00. We had lunch in their cafe ( 50$) and asked again about an hour later if we could have early access. The very polite desk clerk replied “ Yes, for $70 dollars “. Astounded , I countered that we were departing early 2 days later, and he reduced the amount to $35. Now here is where communication becomes an issue: I continued the “are you kidding me?” and he kept bowing. I thought the issue was settled. That night and the next we ate at their lovely restaurants, French and the Cascade. Food and service was superb. With wine we spent about $900. Check out was early, and my husband didn’t really examine the bill. When we were back in our free early access room in Tokyo I noticed the $35 charge. I contacted the hotel’s customer service and they confirmed the charge. So, what about customer hospitality? I have NEVER been charged an early access fee for an hour. They have been times when we patiently waited for a room to be readied, and never demanded a rebate. It is all part of the guest/host agreement, I think this is probably a corporate decision by the Fujiya Group. Rethink your mission, guys, make guests feel wanted!

I stayed on January 5 day as last year. The room is a low-rise room as usual. The lower floors can see the moon, stars and the rising sun through the leaves of the garden tree 々. The upper floors are not disturbed by the trees 々 and you can enjoy the surrounding mountains 々 landscape. 4 I have never stayed above the floor, but I think the scenery on the lower floors in winter is lonely and Qing 々. I don't think I'll come again if my first stay was the mountain side room I saw on YouTube. After spring, it has a hot spring inn in the forest in the leaves of the tree 々, and it has a different taste, but I like winter. This time, when I changed the iPhone to a new model, I was able to take a good picture of the garden and the stars at night. Overall, I am satisfied with the same wonderfulness. If I dare to say something I was interested in, I take pictures of the meal every time, but the tea confectionery at the reception was the same as last year (of course I am satisfied). I requested the size of the clothes in the building in advance and prepared it. Is not small, and last year there was nothing to wear on the clothes in the hall like a vest (I don't know what to say) (because it looks like a farmer?), The maximum size of the clothes I bought at the shop last year is pink-colored building I bought an inner dress, but the inner dress prepared in the room was the same white gray? (Since it was the same color last year, it may be the same color even if you make a reservation for a man and woman. Or is there a number depending on the size?) The same was true when I stayed at another hotel in Hakone Yumoto at the end of the year, but the dinner dishes were served. , From last year, I felt that it was small or the amount was small. Compared to the photos when I stayed last year, I really get worried. I was worried that the food would be smaller as the room rate was rising from last year. The good thing was that the staff at various places were as good as ever. There were many non-al drinks beside the elevator. There was a low evaluation on SNS in advance, but it is true that there are customers, but there are staff who are dissatisfied with colleagues in a low voice, or the number of staff at the restaurant is narrowed. Is it , I couldn't come immediately after pressing the doorbell button, but it was acceptable to me. I've never seen it like I was on SNS here. I wanted to use it in the future. Finally, I bought it here last year, but I can't wear it because it seems to be ”stealed” at the same Kyoritsu resort, but I used it at other hotels and was popular with foreign tourists. It is often used when staying at other hot spring inns. I would like you to always have various sizes of colors. The next time I stay, I would like to buy it if there is a color for overseas souvenirs.

We stayed at the Hakone Hotel as part of a tour group. We had a spacious twin room with a view over the garden and part of Lake Ashi. The room spotlessly clean and was very comfortable. We had a comfortable chair and a comfortable 2 seater couch as well as comfortable beds. In the morning we had a beautiful clear view of Mt Fuji from the grounds of the hotel. We had a delicious included dinner at the hotel as well as a good buffet breakfast. There was a capsule coffee/tea maker in the room that I tried with Earl Grey Tea which was a bit strong for my taste.

AAnonymous UserI had a very nice and decent experience staying at Yumoto Fujiya Hotel. Not only was it near the Yumoto station, it was also with numerous choices of restaurants where you could enjoy lunches / dinners. It was particular meaningful to me as you can rarely see restaurants opened outside after 6pm, and i was super hungry at that time. But it’s better to reserve earlier if you decide to have dinner inside the hotel. The room was clean, though not spacious enough (but it’s very common in Japan). The onsen was also nice which opened until 1am at night. Overall, it was a great experience.

KKai Z.Great Hotel with a stunning view. The service was great and we were welcomed in English, so check in and check out were not a problem. Staff was also really helpful when we had questions. Only thing to consider might be, that the Hotel is not easy to reach. We have to walk around 15 minutes by foot from the bus stop on the road. I believe there are shuttles but we didn't use it. For us it was no problem but might be difficult for older people or with little babies. Also we heard steps from the room above us in our room and people talking from rooms next to us while in the private onsen, since the terraces are basically next to each other. I recommend to eat outside since there are many great and affordable options in walkable reach. All in all, very nice stay and I can only recommend.

GGuest UserThe owner is totally unprofessional. On the arrival night, we came in late at night due to flight delays and the owner initially refused to let me and my brother in even though we had paid for our room already. After letting us in, he put us in a room without any beds and left us to sleep on the wooden floor; he called it the Japanese style. He never took the time to explain how we should bed the room or what to do. He just left us there to figure it out. The second night, we asked to change rooms and the owner obliged. The second night was better sleeping wise. During our entire stay, the owner, refused to allow us to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner at his restaurant claiming that there is no food; even though we picked his hotel because of the good reviews on the restaurant. Interestingly, Japanese visitors were allowed to eat there, which looked very weird. Due to the location of the place, there is no easy access to other eating places. On the check out, the owner told us that we have to pay for the late check in, which we obliged and paid the entire bill as he gave it to us. As soon as we left, the owner sent an email accusing us of steeling drinks in the minibar; we drank one can of soda from the minibar, with the idea that’s why there were for and that the owner would add that soda to the final bill, which he did not. Not only did he accuse us but he said that he has sent our passport pictures to the police for theft; all for one can of soda. Who does that!!! We called him to try to make payment but because of his limited English, we could not pay for that soda. So we asked a client of ours who is Japanese to speak to him so that we can pay for that soda and he refused again stating he doesn’t want to deal with this anymore. Initially, we did not want to leave a review because we simply didn’t have any good things to say about the place or it’s hospitality but after experiencing this nonsense, we felt obliged to let other people know about our experience there. Therefore, we strongly recommend not using this place as same thing may happen to other foreigners like us.

Outstanding
GGuest UserI visited for free. Although there are some negative points due to the old facilities, it is a price range that is easy to visit when you want to come to the hot springs, and the quality of the hot springs is not bad, so it is a new and fashionable facility, to stay without seeking gorgeousness. I thought I was there. Personally, according to the hotel rules, you can go back and forth in the bath with sandals in the room, so I think sandals have dirt on the shoes on the outside, but there are no other footwear in the room. I was worried about the aging of the washroom and the bus, because the boundary between the foot and the non-smoking area seemed vague, including the cleaning staff.

CCyphExcellent accommodation and the location is to die for if MtFuji and the lake is what you’re looking for. A very quiet area in the morning and at night when the tour buses are gone. For those looking to book, here are a few tips we found out to help you out. There’s no receptionist so you will have to figure out how to get in so do not walk on the street side but walk over to the lake side and enter. Otherwise if you enter from the street side, the first pin pad you see is the wrong one. If it’s in front of the door marked “private” then the door code won’t work. Walk around to the front and look for glass doors. That’s where you can enter your door code. The onsen water is extremely hot. Maybe that’s how onsen works but I couldn’t stay for more than 5 minutes as I got dizzy. The loft area is low ceilings but my kids loved sleeping there. However the food here isn’t great so plan accordingly. The 7-11 close by has great snacks. If I ever return to Hakone I would stay here again.

GGuest UserThis was a luxurious stay for us. The room was large and very comfortable, the private bath was wonderful, the buffet breakfast was delicious (and offers a variety for vegetarians); in fact, it was our favorite part of our trip and we wish we could have stayed longer. The downside is the hotel dinner is expensive and not suitable for vegetarians, so the hike down the hill daily for meals (and then back up it) was a bit tiresome. Definitely book the free shuttle service to and from the hotel especially if you have luggage, the “hill” it is on is in fact several steep inclines that are difficult for those less than moderately fit. Another highlight was the hotel’s commitment to honoring the UN SDGs and striving to reduce plastic waste. There’s absolutely no reason in this day and age for people not to travel with their own toothbrush and combs. If you happen to need such amenities, they are available for nominal fees, barely worth complaining over, as many reviews did. This hotel may be pricey, but it’s so worth it, and they’re doing some good for the earth, so the stay comes with more feel good feelings. We are already planning our next stay here.

GGuest UserThis hotel is a bit hard to reach by public transport. There is a bus that stops closeby, but there is also a train, however, after that you have to walk for 20 minutes and the road can be quite steep in some parts. In the vicinity, there are some convenience stores and restaurants. The town of Hakone is beautiful and located close to mount Fuji. We had a lovely ryokan-style suite with twin beds. Everything was very clean and comfortable, including the pillows. Breakfast is buffet-style and offers both European and Asian food. There are both a public onsen and a private one. Staff is very friendly and speaks English very well.

CcharacomIt's a little confusing, but the view and hot springs were the best. The main building was about 5 rooms, and there was not much contact with the people around me. On the 1st floor, there was a room on the 2nd floor with only a large atrium with a front desk and sofa, a bath and a dining room. The hot spring seems to work very well with nigori hot water. The skin becomes smooth, but the bathtub is slippery and carefully entered. We procured dinner and breakfast in Odawara, but we warmed it up and ate it leisurely in the room because we could use the microwave in the dining room. There is only one store that can be reached on foot from the inn. There are no convenience stores or supermarkets nearby, so if you don't go by car, you must procure food. On a sunny day, you can see Mt. Fuji behind Lake Ashino from the balcony. Unfortunately the weather was the day I stayed, but I could see Lake Ashino and a pleasure boat. The map app takes 4 minutes from the nearest Oishishita bus stop, but it actually takes about 10 minutes. It is safer to use it because you can pick up and drop off at Kojiri and Taogendai. Also, since I climbed the stone steps further from the hotel parking lot, I thought it would be better to avoid those with bad legs and the elderly. The hotel is barefoot walking. I was a little confused that there were no slippers in the toilet in the room.

Very Good

Sstarriiesinteresting balinese onsen ryokan. service was great, i couldn’t take raw food and my husband is allergic to prawns and they took notice for it and didn’t serve them during our half board meals (breakfast and dinner). the onsen water is certified to be natural and we could read the details of the certification from both the hotel reception and room toilet. the private in room open air onsen’s temperature can be adjusted as well. however the room’s shower’s door was not completely sealed and we found it very chilly to bathe even tho there was hot water supplied as the constant cold air from outside would come in. hope the hotel can take note of this and seal up the showering area’s door completely to prevent air from exchanging during shower. it’s a jap-balinese fusion hotel, pretty interesting concept. we drove during our trip around hakone area and be ready to navigate through very small and narrow roads while driving to this ryokan haha. really very narrow roads. hotel also requested for us to pass them the car key when we returned to the hotel, and to pass them the hotel key when we are heading out, which we found to be a little weird to be honest.
