It's a very clean hotel. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. It's about 20-30 minutes' walk from the train station. There seems to be a Japanese-style tomb across the street from the hotel, but the windows in the hotel rooms are covered up, so it's not too scary. Overall the price is reasonable. The hot springs are average and not outstanding. The restaurant food and coffee are great. The room was very clean!

The location is far from the station, about 10 minutes away. Dinner and breakfast were both exquisite, and the accommodation facilities were also very good.

Location a bit out

Almost everything was self-service, which was disappointing, but it wasn't bad. It's located on a hill, so it's a bit difficult to bring a suitcase, but there's a bus that runs from Hakone Yumoto Station, so I recommend paying 100 yen to take it, but I'm not sure when the bus will come. (It doesn't always come on time.) Private bathrooms cost 2,200 yen for 45 minutes, but there's a photo. Please refer to it. Men's and women's bathrooms are separated on the first floor, and you can also go to the restaurant on the first floor and eat when they prepare food. There are two shared bathrooms, indoor and outdoor, but they are located right next to a single window. It may be a shame. It doesn't have the same luxury as Hinokitang, but the surroundings are quiet so you can feel relaxed.

I was worried because there weren't many reviews, but it exceeded my expectations. The location is also good. You can take the 100 yen shuttle bus from Yumoto Station to right in front of the hotel, and the staff were all friendly. It still seemed like a place visited more by Japanese locals than tourists. The meal was satisfactory, the room was clean and everything was nice. The lobby lounge was spacious and nice, and the private bath was also nice. The public bath was small, but there weren't many people when I used it, so I used it comfortably. Overall, it was a satisfactory accommodation. A bit worried due to lack of reviews, but it was useless worries. I was very satisfied with the ryokan. Location is a bit far from HakoneYumoto station by walk, but if you take 100Yen shuttle bus, you will arrive right in front of ryokan in 3-5 minutes very easy. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were also satisfied, staff was really kind. Room was clean and cozy. All the things in the room worked well(TV, Airconditioner etc.) Public Bath was a bit small but there was no person when I use, so I used it very comfortable. Private bath was a bit expensive for the time(2,200Yen for 45min) but the facilities were much better than public bath. Overall, I was very satisfied with the Kintoen, hope that I will visit again.

The room is clean and tidy, and the service is considerate and thoughtful. Dinner and breakfast are included. The taste is very good. I really like the food utensils. They are small and exquisite, like handicrafts. Will go again next time.

I just want to start by saying that the pictures online are quite deceiving, especially of the room, which is very small, and the Onsen tub, which looks like a square and sizable tub online in the pictures, is basically a bathtub with a wooden basin. The view was wonderful, The hotel was rather clean. The restaurant was just OK. My wife has some food allergies, which we let them know about, but we kept getting incorrect items every meal. Our server was great and tried the best, she was struggling to help. It made for a non memorable experience at best. The management is not the friendliest. We stayed for two nights when we asked for a late checkout, nne hour later, for 11:00AM, the gentleman at the front desk rudely uttered, "Impossible!" - thanks for the hospitality, so much for omotenashi. I find that Hakone has become a little too touristy, we had an exceptional experience two days prior, in Shizuoka; where we stayed at another Onsen hotel that was just spectacular and considerably less expensive than here. Also, in Fukushima at Date Onsen, far better experience and much cheaper. The hospitality was 180 degrees from Kintoen. I would never return here, the price is not worth the level of service and experience. Hakone has become the Hamptons of Tokyo-ites who pay whatever to get out of the city. Judging form other comments and the 3-star rating, other peoples experiences seem to be the same - pass and save your money for somewhere else.
