The room was cleaned, and the service was adequate! Overall, a unique traditional guesthouse experience 👍

We stayed in the traditional private room which was large and comfortable. The onsen was lovely and very clean. The kitchen is open for guests to use and well equipped. The hotel is located in quite a secluded area with limited amenities/dining options. There’s a 7-11 and Lawson if you really can’t find a restaurant that’s opened. There’s also a lot of stairs which might be challenging if you have heavy luggages.

It may have been set up with inbound tourists in mind, but there are both spacious rooms and rooms with upper and lower bunk beds that can reduce the accommodation fee, which is somewhat unusual for a hotel in Hakone. , I feel grateful. The common space was large and nice. The quality of the hot springs was also very good, but as others have pointed out, there is no washing area in the open-air bath, which I would like to see improved. Also, there is a delicious ramen shop nearby and a photo shop with history.

I thought hotels and inns in Hakone were expensive, but I was able to find a reasonably priced inn and guesthouse. Even if you use public transportation, it is convenient because it is close to the bus stop. Convenience stores are also within walking distance. I wasn't familiar with the area, so I later found out that there are frequent buses along National Route 1, which was great for me since I don't have a car. Kagodoko is a so-called capsule hotel style, and the entrance is accessed with a security key. I was tired so I fell asleep, but the sound of this door opening and closing can be quite loud, so if you're interested, you might be concerned. There is 1 USB, 2 sockets, and a small security box in the room. People with large luggage such as suitcases seemed to leave it in the aisle. Other than sleeping in my own room, the basket floor was enough for me to take a bath and relax in the shared lounge and kitchen. Perhaps because we entered the hot springs early (6:00-7:00, 18:00-19:00), the hot springs were almost reserved for private use.The outdoor baths seemed to be more popular with foreigners, but the indoor baths were also nice and relaxing. It was warm in the morning and at night. The kitchen was self-service, and the staff cleaned and tidyed up frequently, making it a pleasant experience to use. I made coffee in the mill every day and had a relaxing time. The receptionist was kind and helpful. The interior design is Japanese-style, which would appeal to foreign tourists, and the people staying there were of various nationalities, making it feel like I was in a foreign country, which was refreshing. If you're used to staying in a hostel, it's natural to bring most things with you, but here they provided towels, toiletries, and drinks, so all you need is a toothbrush and a loungewear. That's enough. it was very helpful.

This is a lovely place, right over the river, and our private room was very spacious and comfortable. The sound of the river running outside was very soothing. The double bed was large and comfy, and so was the sofa! The photos were very accurate. The staff were friendly, and had no problem with us leaving our bags earlier in the day prior to our check in. The room had a good fridge, and the reception sells some easy food options (cup noodles etc) and sake/beer/soda. We used the washing facilities (coin op dryer and washer) and enjoyed the onsen whilst our clothes dried! The onsen were fine, clean and hot. The communal facilities were very pleasant and homely, and we successfully cooked microwave curries, rice and naan! We chatted with a lady staying in a shared room and she was very positive about it. The location was a little remote from the attractions we wanted to visit. However the public transport was excellent - the bus stop was right outside and the buses were frequent. It was around a 5-10min walk to the train station, with a pretty steep climb up to the platform. But we passed a Lawson which was convenient! I'd recommend for couples/friends and solo travellers, and would happily stay again.

I think this is a backpackers but I’m not sure. I was the oldest guest there in my own room. My room was very comfortable overlooking a small gorge. The sound of the flowing water was wonderful. The common room/ kitchen/dining room was excellent. I enjoyed the onsen - the outside onsen was hotter. Staff were very accommodating! They booked my taxi and helped take my luggage up the stairs. This is a great place for solo travellers without much luggage.

・I stayed for 2 nights and 3 days without meals (about 9300 yen per person). *However, two hours before I decided to make a reservation, the price was about 7,500 yen for three days and two nights, so it might be a good deal if you make a reservation early. I lost my mind💦 ・From Hakone-Yumoto Station, take the Hakone-machi Line bus for 11 stops, and get off at the Kamisokokura stop, and you can arrive in a 2-minute walk. I took the Hakone Tozan Railway to Kowakidani Station and walked about 15 minutes from there. Since the road is the main road, there were almost no sidewalks, so I think it would be best to go by bus. [Room] ・This time, I stayed in a dormitory's Kagodoko (cabin type). First of all, the room is very clean. The lighting is bright and I feel good. There are 2 power outlets and 1 USB dedicated power supply, and charging is also possible. There is also a 4-digit lockable valuables compartment inside the room. I am very grateful for this. You can feel secure just by putting your wallet here. Furthermore, to enter the dormitory space, you have to unlock the auto lock with the room key, so I think security is perfect. [Onsen] ・It was great. There are both open-air baths and indoor baths. The only disappointing thing is that there is a distance between the indoor bath and the open-air bath, so you have to wear clothes before moving. I thought, "Then, I should just use the open-air bath," but there is no washing area in the open-air bath. This was the only disappointment, but everything else was perfect. The open-air bath is a little hot and comfortable, and the indoor bath is lukewarm so you can use it forever. Both are kept clean and pretty clean. Depending on the time of day, you can have it all to yourself, so it was pretty good.・In addition, the dryer was a type with a strong air flow, so it is safe. In general, the hair dryers at hotels and inns have a weak airflow and don't dry your hair in the middle of the day. It is a gem that dries quickly. [Meals] ・Since this is a guest house, no meals are provided. However, the wonderful kitchen is open for free. Free coffee and tea. Free microwave and refrigerator. Tableware is also free. I thought it was the best facility for staying for a while on a trip and doing nomad work. There are about 10 restaurants nearby and a convenience store, so I don't think you'll have any trouble finding food. [Inside the building/lobby] ・Everywhere is clean and comfortable. Due to the location, it was a little difficult to walk up and down the stairs, but it would be nice to be able to climb up and down the stairs more than usual and get some exercise. 1F is the reception, B1 is the room, B2 is the kitchen and lounge, and B3 is the hot spring.・The toilet is shared, but it is well-cleaned and is also very clean. [Customer Service] ・Very friendly and pleasant. However, it is also nice to keep a sense of distance by not communicating more than necessary unless you go from here. [Others] ・The lounge was too nice. The tatami room has a counter and two kotatsu tables, and the floor lounge has a counter and about five table seats. From the counter, you can see the nature of Hakone in front of you. Every seat has a power supply, so it's perfect for nomad work. What's more, it has Free Wi-Fi, so it's nice to be able to work without worrying about the network or power supply. Of course, it is also possible to bring in what you have made in the kitchen and work while eating. I thought it was the perfect workspace. [Overall] ・Since it is a dormitory-style room, it is cheap. All facilities are clean and comfortable. The customer service is also friendly and the more you go, the more you will probably feel like at home. Power supply and network facilities are also perfect. In such a place, while starting up the PC and crackling, if I get tired, I will soak in the open-air bath, and if I get hungry, I will go to the neighborhood for a meal. I was surprised that such a perfect and wonderful space existed in Hakone. In my case, round-trip transportation from Tokyo and accommodation for two nights and three days totaled 14,000 yen. If anything, I would like to book all weekdays, stay overnight and completely work here. It was such a lovely place. It seems that there are regular rooms other than dormitories, so next time I would like to visit for a relaxing stay with my family.
