The hotel is very good

My wife and I were here from 7.02-15.02. Everything in the hotel is disgusting. There is nothing to eat! There is never any alcohol, there are no bartenders to be found. The cleaning is disgusting. You can't go into the ocean. There are 10 sun loungers in the entire hotel, 4 of which are broken. There is no animation or entertainment. The hotel is in complete ANARCHY. What saved me was communication with the same poor souls and walks along the wild beach.

The Peacock Beach Hotel in Hambantota positions itself as 4 stars with the latest renovation in 2023. I am writing a real review. The hotel is extremely shabby, there is dirt everywhere, there are spiders in the rooms with biting midges in their webs, the floors are all moldy. Now about food and drinks with all inclusive - for the entire hotel there is a bottle of local whiskey and rum and a case of beer, whoever managed it is well done, if there is no alcohol in the bar, then it is closed, soft drinks are also not available in 30 degree heat. The ocean is for scenery, but not for swimming. Breakfast - scrambled eggs, milk porridge, mini soy sausages, boiled vegetables, boiled eggs, there is no talk of sausage and cheese, this is not there. Lunch - two types of rice, fried chicken, soup, sometimes mashed potatoes or mini baked potatoes in skins, fruit - pineapple (what could be eaten), no papaya and unripe watermelon. Dinner - the same two types of rice, boiled vegetables, the same fried chicken, the same fruits, twice they gave fried lard with skin (this is generally tin), from vegetables - cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, unripe tomatoes, and lettuce. And so on for 10 days. The hotel guide, whose name is Chamit (Fun Sun), is a boor, you should look for him. He showed up at the hotel once and then at an urgent request to sort out the situation, he came and talked, but we didn’t see any changes, the request to overpower was refused, then he either didn’t pick up the phone or hung up. There was no information about the time of the return transfer at the reception until she called him and informed him, but at 12 o’clock at night the manager came and said a completely different time, again I had to figure it out again. I completely agree with the previous review, the hotel is terrible. But I want to add another important factor - the lack of a beach for swimming! The waves in this place are very strong + underwater current. We left the hotel constantly so as not to spoil our mood. In total, we spent 3 days here (out of 9 paid), which was enough to completely ruin the impression.

All previous reviews, I am sure, were left by the owners of this establishment, since they have nothing to do with reality. We took all inclusive, two bottles of strong alcohol and a box of beer were brought to the entire hotel. The food is the same chicken and breaded fish. Literally three side dishes: one stewed vegetables and chicken with fish. Most often condemned to death. Three or four times 5-10 people went to the reception to at least somehow influence the situation, at least to bring in alcohol so that everything else would be easier to cope with. We questioned the manager, who said that he understood everything and would fix everything, and indeed, one day pork appeared for dinner. It became a little better with alcohol, but either rum or whiskey was constantly running out and we had to take what was available. The rooms were dirty, when we first checked into the room, we took off our socks, we immediately felt that the floors were clearly covered with something, there was simply no minimal cleaning. There is a mold stain on the wall under the air conditioner, and the air conditioner itself is leaking. At the minimum temperature, the air conditioner creates barely a slight coolness, but I’ll mention it enough to understand the state of the equipment. You can’t get light cold drinks either; most often you have to go to a restaurant and ask in person to get them from the kitchen. How accounting works is a separate story; be prepared to give your number every time you sneeze for every order of alcohol or go to the buffet and sign it in their diary. They didn't invent the hand ribbon. The hotel has at least 60 rooms occupied, with 17 sun loungers available. The sunbeds themselves are in a deplorable state, wooden, most likely made by ourselves, but why not do more in this case remains a mystery to me. Here in the comments they wrote about monkeys and peacocks on the territory, of course there is no such thing here, there are mongrels who bark from time to time at night. I also don’t understand what kind of renovation the authors wrote about here, everything, absolutely everything in this hotel and on its territory is in a deplorable state. What is the point of a large territory if there is absolutely nothing on it and nothing happens? We are very lucky that we are here for only 9 nights and not 20 as we initially thought, we will leave with relief. In all my 15 years of travel I have never been in such horror. One good thing is that if you arrive at Maletta airport (I could be wrong in the name), then the drive is literally forty minutes, which by local standards is within easy reach. If you go to this hotel and do not take all inclusive, then you need to be prepared that there are practically no places in the area where you can eat, arak costs 10 bucks, whiskey 18. On the first day of arrival we asked for a safe three times, of course we never saw a safe . Other vacationers never received hot water in the bathroom, but they were lucky; they were evacuated by the tour operator to another hotel. Lucky ones. I probably forgot a lot of things, but I think this is enough to understand the situation. This is the first time we’ve had such an experience, so I wasn’t even too lazy to write a comment until the emotions subsided.
