Oak Ray Wild Yala ★★★★★
"Where do I start .. we were allocated this hotel by our driver we had booked a private trip with. When we arrived we were placed in the nearest room to the reception so not too far to walk to anything. Our lock on the actual door was loose and not very secure but obviously only noticed it when we went to lock it to go to dinner. The safe / locker was broken and they brought us a new one within 5 minutes ok but if someone wanted to take it ?? Just carry it out again not secured to anything. So we decided to shower for evening meal and didn't realise that the shutters were actually see through if you wanted to look in and considering we were the first room we had about 8 rooms passing us. The room was dark dingy and dirty, broken furniture on the balcony dirty walls and damp showing In the bathroom Bare wires hanging randomly from the walls and drips stained walls from the air con. No spoon provided to make your cup of tea I had to use a pen from my bag. Shower was very shy of a good scrubbing and the cupboard door was thick with dust . Food was cold or tepid not hot and everyone followed in a queue like a wedding buffet. We was told there was a bar in the dining area there was a fridge with beer in it and closed when dining was over at 9.30pm there is nowhere to walk as it was so compact in and nothing outside. We resorted to an early night with a couple of cocktails from a very enthusiastic Vihahga. His talents are wasted here as everyone just wondered to their room from their meal as there was nothing other to do than watch TV that then brings me to another problem the tv was snowing and off channel not just one all channels so it was difficult to watch. So early night it was to be woken at midnight by rowdy young lads on our floor banging and trying to get in our room remember we didn't have a secure lock on our door. So didn't sleep very well worried it would happen again. 5 am arrives and guess what a bunch of the same lads all singing laughing whistling and banging doors like it was mid afternoon all heading for reception which was a spit from our room so my husband gets dressed to speak to reception and no there are no staff on over night they start at 6am. I always review positives rarely negatives but I have no idea in my head how this is a 5 star hotel it's dirty damaged and has no facilities to warrant a 5star the dining room manager couldn't apologise enough it's not his place to have to apologise its the overall manager but he didn't understand enough english to apologise and I had socks older than him. We were suposed to check out and have a 2nd day of trips but we decided to go straight back to the comfort of our hotel and the cleanliness of our room there. The sad thing is if we had known this is where we would have spent the night we would be looking at the beautiful pictures on trip advisor thinking how gorgeous and clean it looks but don't be fooled these pictures are years old and struggling to wonder why the reviews are not"
Cinnamon Wild Yala ★★★★★
"Out of the 5 days I spent in Sri Lanka, this hotel was by far my favorite and the most satisfying! It's located right next to Yala National Park, sharing the same grounds as the Hilton resort, so you'll spot various animals quite often. We stayed in a jungle chalet, and it was incredibly clean! Both the AC and fan were very quiet. Every staff member was so nice and friendly. We were able to pre-order breakfast boxes for our early morning safari, and on our departure day, since we were leaving too early for lunch (we had booked a full-board package), they even prepared lunch boxes for us to take on the road. The service was absolutely excellent! And the value for money is fantastic!! Highly, highly recommended!"
Saffron Lake Yala ★★★★
"The hotel is a bit far from expectations, and the price/performance ratio is not high. When I went to Yala, I saw very ordinary animals, no leopards."
Hotel Tamarind Tree ★★★★★
"Environmental services are good, not far away from the lake"
DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort ★★★★★
"Very good. The hotel breakfast was also good, and the service was excellent."
Shangri-La Hambantota ★★★★★
"Travel is very convenient"
Jetwing Yala ★★★★★
"Attentive staff, very friendly and great with the kids. The room was spacious and cool enough to be comfortable. The buffet dinner was great and they were able to provide a takeaway breakfast for safaris."
Tree Tops Yala ★★★
"A gem of a place near Nimalaya Aranya, just 15 minutes to the Yala Main Entrance. Appu's cooking and hosting is out of this world. They organised a great safari to Yala where I saw the elusive lepoard and many Elephants. A must visit place in Yala with nature and birds surrounding you. "
Lankavatara Ocean Retreat & Spa ★★★★
"Lankavatara is a small structure (17 rooms) nestled on the edge of the Indian Ocean, very isolated from any town: the beach is endless, completely wild and lined with coconut palms and exotic trees of all kinds. The hotel is magnificent, exotic chic decorative architecture, large swimming pool and beautifully and carefully maintained gardens, all the staff are friendly and welcoming with a smile and great care for the guests. The bedding and sanitary facilities are perfect and the restaurant offers real quality cuisine at very reasonable prices. The breakfast (your choice) is very careful and delicious. In short, you will have understood: staying in this hotel is a real pleasure, give yourself this gift! PS several small restaurants nearby also allow you to have a pleasant change of table if you are staying several days... we particularly recommend endless blue and its Ill mare restaurant (the closest neighbor) for extraordinary seafood!"

Palm Paradise Cabanas & Villas Beach Resort
"The spot was awesome. Right on the beach, and the restaurant by the pool was amazing! The cabana is super rustic, and we did get up close with some of the wildlife - if you're not into bugs, I'd suggest one of the villas instead!"
Lagoon Gate Tangalle Resort
"Our group of 24 did not stay overnight but had a delicious lunch. Prawns and crayfish plus fish where the main elements. The place is beautiful, being set on a lagoon. I enjoyed watching sea eagles and lace monitor lizards. We had a brief look at the accommodation that also seemed top class. Staff serving us at lunch were attentive and smiling. Highly recommended."
Jetwing Jungle Lodge, A Luxury Reserve
"One of the best hotel stays ever. The staff is so courteous, careful and attentive of your needs. Would definitely want to come back again for a longer stay."
Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort
"We were upgraded to a sea view room which was nice. But it was different from the pictures. The so-called direct access to the beach was not reliable because the balcony was full of bushes and the beach was too small to play. We just went there to lie flat and sleep for three days."
Ziba Luxury Villa
"Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property."
O2 Villas Yala
"Our stay at O2 Villas was honestly incredible. I couldn’t recommend it more. We stayed for two nights and did the safari one afternoon, which ended up being one of the highlights of the whole trip. Our guide from O2 Villas was amazing and really went above and beyond. We were lucky enough to see a leopard, and he also took us to the red sand beach and dunes to watch the sunset, which was absolutely unforgettable. The villas themselves are stunning - a real touch of luxury in such a peaceful setting. We loved spending time just relaxing at the villa and completely switching off. The staff were all fantastic and made the whole experience feel very special. If you get the chance, definitely book the bonfire restaurant evening. The setting was beautiful and we had the most incredible grilled fish and so much delicious food. An unforgettable stay… 11/10."
Kayaam Wellness
"We had a quiet two night stay with friends at this small boutique hotel. The most striking here are the very attentive and caring staff, the isolated beach that stretches for ever, and the rustic architecture of the place, a fused version of Bawa architecture. Chef Rizwan personally interacted with us to ensure we had the cuisine of our preference personally crafted. Hats off to him. While all the staff were equally gifted we can name those who interacted with us. Steward Kasun, F&B head Danushka, Housekeeping head Aroshan assisted by Kasun and Anura, they made all the effort to make our stay memorable. Operation Manager Chaminda kept a close eye in the background. All in all, we would love to return to Kayaam House"
Kithala Resort - Thema Collection
"Perfect resting resort after a long trip. Local to the national park. The staff at this hotel are all very good, with smiles and helpful attitude, makes your stay a fantastic experience. The beer is good too !"
Ravan Resort Tangalle
"The hotel as a whole is not bad, but there is a chance that you will be placed in a completely different type of room than the one you booked. The staff said that they were overbooked and had no options. We booked a luxury room in a separate bungalow on Trip.com, but got it in the main building, where there is no sound insulation, mosquitoes, faulty plumbing and constant noise from the pump that pumps water. The price is not high, but I wouldn’t risk my vacation and sacrifice comfort."
Ananya Beach Resort
"This is one of the most beautiful resorts in an amazing secluded nature we have ever experienced in Sri Lanka. Jannith and Nalin are doing a great job with their entire team. Always friendly, eager on making the great stay even a bit greater, taking care of excursions, individual wishes. We had a beachfront room overlooking the ocean, very clean, good beds. The restaurant is serving great Sri Lanka and Western food. The atmosphere is friendly, calm, familiar. The entire resort is very neat and well kept."
Shalom Resorts Yala
"Excellent hotel: quiet, cozy, with a beautiful panoramic view from the room. The pool is wonderful. It has its own convenient parking and friendly staff."
Shine Park
"From the moment I arrived at Shine Park Guest House, everything exceeded my expectations. The guest house exudes charm and comfort with its cozy, well-appointed rooms and friendly, attentive staff. The highlight of my stay was definitely the breakfast—a delightful spread of fresh fruits, local delicacies, pastries, and a perfect cup of coffee that truly set the tone for a fantastic day."
Villa Blu
"The pictures, plenty beautiful here, don’t begin to do Villa Blu justice. It is stunning, elegant, serene and more. The service was super attentive. The food generous and absolutely delicious. The setting is magnificent - along an empty beach. The air conditioning works great and you do need it. The only disappointment was the WiFi. Which is ifffy at best. It would have been good to know that at the outset. But still - highly highly recommend."
EKHO Safari Tissa
"The room is very small, there is no hand-held shower head, no hot water, and there are cockroaches in the room🪳 I didn't take any pictures. Anyway, it is the worst hotel of the same type and level in Sri Lanka."
Lagoon Paradise Beach Resort
"Very enjoyable. Great location on beach, Lagoon. Great big pool. Dinner and lunch very nice. ............... ......... .................................................................................................."
