Shangri-La Hambantota ★★★★★
"Travel is very convenient"
Hotel Tamarind Tree ★★★★★
"The prices of hotels near the southern seaside are comparable to those of the Colombo Hilton Hotel, but the hardware facilities are much worse. Although the swimming pool owned by the hotel is not large, the water quality is not bad, and it also provides auxiliary play facilities such as water polo and ball racks. The food for breakfast and dinner was just like this. When I checked out, I paid and left without looking at the bill details. Afterwards, I took out the bill and looked at it. I found that we did not consume Coke for dinner, but there was indeed a charge of 220 rupees on the bill. Although the amount is so small that it can be ignored, it reflects the lax record of consumption bills."
Oak Ray Wild Yala ★★★★★
"The environment is great and quiet, and both the courtyard and rooms are clean. There are also heaters in case it gets cold at night. However, the in-room facilities are a bit old, the shower water pressure is low, and dinner was just okay. But for a hotel in the mountains, it's understandable, and compared to other hotels nearby, it's still worth recommending."
Saffron Lake Yala ★★★★
"Best hotel in Yala. Quiet and peaceful. Food is made to perfection. Staff will bend over backwards to make sure you're comfortable. Truely the best experience. We were there from 27 - 29 Dec and wish we stayed longer! Thank you, staff at Saffron Lake (Janaka, Umesh and everyone) for everything!"
DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort ★★★★★
"Out of all the places we stayed during our Sri Lanka trip, this hotel’s environment truly blew me away. ✨ **[Impeccable Eco-Environment: Living in a Natural Grand Park]** The hotel's core highlight is its unparalleled natural setting. The entire property feels like a meticulously maintained natural park, where the landscaping seamlessly blends with the surrounding lake. The scenery, with the water and sky mirroring each other, is incredibly therapeutic. Walking around the grounds, you’ll see egrets gracefully strolling on the lawns or flying low overhead, and various small animals everywhere. Even lizards, which are “standard Southeast Asian fare,” add to the ecological feel – it truly feels like living in a wildlife park. The hotel's outdoor pool is large and expansive, offering direct lake views, perfect for photos and relaxation. There’s also a dedicated boardwalk by the lake, ideal for cycling or a stroll in the evening, enjoying the lake breeze and watching the sunset – it's so comfortable you won’t want to leave. 🏊♂️ **[Facilities and Rooms: Basic but Solid, Bathroom a Huge Plus]** The room generally boasts Hilton's standard configuration – clean and spacious. The bathroom, in particular, is very large, making it comfortable to use. Given that it's an eco-park in Sri Lanka, occasionally you might find small mosquitoes near the toilet, which is normal for Southeast Asian hotels and perfectly acceptable. The hotel has two restaurants, offering both à la carte and buffet options. The food quality is decent, and they support Alipay and WeChat Pay, which is much more cost-effective than using local currency directly. 🍽️ **[Dining Experience: Lacking Highlights, Buffet Rather Ordinary]** Due to an upset stomach, we didn’t try the buffet and ordered à la carte, which tasted pretty good. The breakfast buffet looked like it had many options and was quite crowded, but in reality, there weren't many choices that suited our taste. Also, because there are many Indian guests staying, both breakfast and dinner had dedicated Indian food sections. For tourists not used to strong flavors, this further limited the options. Compared to a five-star hotel's positioning, the breakfast as a whole was only average, which is a common issue with most hotels in Sri Lanka. 📍 **[Location and Travel: An Excellent Base for Safari]** The hotel is not far from Yala National Park's Safari area, making it very convenient whether you’re driving yourself or using a private car. We personally found that there’s no need to rush for an early morning safari; an afternoon departure offered a much better experience. We saw a leopard as soon as we entered the park and also spotted most of the iconic animals mentioned in guidebooks. There's no need to get up early and rush, and you can return to the hotel to relax right after – the pace was incredibly comfortable. Always prioritize using Alipay/WeChat for payments, as the exchange rate is much better than using local currency directly. Overall, this hotel is absolutely worth staying at, thanks to its stunning ecological environment and excellent location! If you're coming for the safari and natural scenery, this place will definitely be a highlight of your trip. The only minor regret is that the dining didn't quite match the overall quality."
Lankavatara Ocean Retreat & Spa ★★★★
"Lankavatara is a small structure (17 rooms) nestled on the edge of the Indian Ocean, very isolated from any town: the beach is endless, completely wild and lined with coconut palms and exotic trees of all kinds. The hotel is magnificent, exotic chic decorative architecture, large swimming pool and beautifully and carefully maintained gardens, all the staff are friendly and welcoming with a smile and great care for the guests. The bedding and sanitary facilities are perfect and the restaurant offers real quality cuisine at very reasonable prices. The breakfast (your choice) is very careful and delicious. In short, you will have understood: staying in this hotel is a real pleasure, give yourself this gift! PS several small restaurants nearby also allow you to have a pleasant change of table if you are staying several days... we particularly recommend endless blue and its Ill mare restaurant (the closest neighbor) for extraordinary seafood!"
Cinnamon Wild Yala ★★★★★
"The hotel is definitely worth staying at. We booked our Safari hotel last minute and were lucky enough to be checked in right after we arrived. Our Safari driver was excellent, and we managed to see almost all the animals. Breakfast and dinner weren't entirely to our taste, but they were passable. It's highly recommended. The most common animals we saw at the hotel were crocodiles and lizards."
Tree Tops Yala ★★★
"Stayed 1 night on half board basis. Very convenient location and just 10 min away from Yala National Park Palatupana main entrance. Quiet atmosphere with outdoor pool and spacious and cozy rooms. Food was tasty. Staff is attentive. Pool needs some attention though. We met the owner as well (Mr. Naveen) and he was a nice gentlemen. Good and convenient place if you plan Yala safaris. "
Jetwing Yala ★★★★★
"The hotel is located on a rather remote stretch of beach; I actually thought the driver had taken a wrong turn. However, the service was quite good, and the facilities were nice. A cricket chirped in the bathroom all night, but for a 'wild luxury' hotel, some small animals are to be expected. The food was both affordable and delicious. Overall, pretty good!"

Queens Beach Hotel
"I was fortunate to stay in Tangalle for a few days whilst travelling in Sri Lanka, and I was delighted with my choice of hotel. The property was well located a few minutes walk from the beach, and the accommodation was adequate, offering a decent shower, fridge and safe. Great views over the beach and a short walk to the town centre. Sandun was the perfect host, assisting me with suggestions of great beaches to visit, I recommend Silent beach close to the hotel, and his breakfasts were a welcome start to the day! Thank you to all at the Queens Beach hotel."
All View Resort
"Priyanthi is the best host we ever met in Sri Lanka and also an extraordinary cook 🥰 Her fresh made meals were so delicious and also the diversity made us happy. Her Resort is a treasure near by the ocean and very clean rooms with A/C. Thank you 😊"
Little Tamarind
"I stayed at this hotel for six nights and had a truly wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a small fishing village, far from the noise and crowds, and just a short walk from the beach. My room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with a lovely balcony overlooking the lush greenery and the ocean. The entire property is beautifully maintained, surrounded by trees and tropical plants — it truly feels like the hotel is wrapped in a jungle. I had both breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the food was amazing — fresh, healthy, and full of flavor. The staff was exceptional: kind, attentive, and genuinely warm. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for peace, nature, and outstanding hospitality."
Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort
"The feeling of vacation is full when you enter the hotel. The room is OK but there are a lot of bugs. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel, Italian, Asian and buffet. There are some tourist restaurants around the hotel, which are not recommended. It takes about half an hour to drive to any restaurant that is worth your attention. When you check out, you should take a good look at the bill. There are several extra items such as turtle protection fees for no reason."
EKHO Safari Tissa
"The house is not big but the layout is very reasonable. An extra bed was added for free. It is close to Lake Tisza. We had the New Year's Eve dinner in the hotel restaurant and it tasted good!"
Jetwing Jungle Lodge, A Luxury Reserve
"It is just next door to Jetwing Yala. This one is more primitive, and that one is more modern. This one has a room and a small independent house. Outside the room is the forest of the national park. It is said that you may see animals. Generally speaking, this hotel is suitable for people who are not afraid of bugs and prefer a primitive environment, because there are really too many small bugs in the room, including flies, mosquitoes, and geckos. After staying for one night, I found three geckos running very fast, which was a bit... Scared😂. The facilities are okay, but the electricity is unstable. The power went out several times, although it came back quickly. Then the hot water was too small. There is no separate restaurant. If you want to eat, you can take a car at the front desk and go to the restaurant next door for dinner. According to friends, the dinner buffet is not bad. Choose as needed"
Chaarya Resort & Spa
"The room wasn't particularly clean, and the facilities were a bit outdated. However, the pool and dinner were quite good."
Ravan Resort Tangalle
"This resort is definetely worth recommending. There are a variety of rooms and the room we had was spacious and nicely decorated. There was a lamp and a small fridge and electici jug. The AC worked well and the pool was soooo amazing! We loved it here. The owner is on call if there are any communication issues and was happy to help with all our requests and questions."
Malala Retreat
"A very nice place with excellent food and service. The rooms are clean and with good standard. You can hear natural animal life. Ca 1 hour drive from the Yala National Park."
Ravana Garden
"The hotel is located by the sea, away from the village. We really appreciated the peace and quietness of this place and the sustainable approach with which the hotel is run. Our room with an outdoor shower was perfect and the pool in the garden was delightful. All the staff took care of our well-being from the beginning to the end of our stay. A big thank you in particular to the employee (whose name we forgot to ask) who accompanied us to the top of the nearby hill of Ussangoda for a romantic picnic at sunset, but also to Lakshitha, who took great care of us at mealtimes and throughout the day, to the spa employee for her invigorating treatments, and to everyone who, in one way or another, made our stay unforgettable. The visit to the bird sanctuary at dawn made a particular impression on us, a fascinating experience with a guide (Anjulo?) who introduced us to around fifty species of birds. We highly recommend.. The internet connection is a bit slow. Swimming in the sea is not always possible due to waves and currents."
Ziba Luxury Villa
"Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property."
Ananya Beach Resort
"Off the beaten track but worth the effort right on the beach. You can walk along the beach for miles and not meet anybody but a lot of surf and not suitable for bathing at this time of year. On the top floor great view very relaxing great pool. Ideally you need your own transport . Have no hesitation in recommending this venue and would return anytime."
Lagoon Gate Tangalle Resort
"I would definitely recommend this place, especially for people who like to get away from mainstream tourism and at the same time enjoy the excellent living conditions. The place is located right next to a lagoon with lots of birds, very chilled out and relaxing vibes. The price to quality ratio is excellent, the rooms are very nice, comfortable, clean and modern. The service also deserves a specjał praise - everyone is very friendly and helpful ( special shout out to the owner and Salinde!)- they will help you with everything you might need. We arrived at the hotel without booking in advance- after a short while we had a room ready, tasty food on the table and a scooter which was arranged by the staff. I would also add that we were heading back to the airport from this location and were not completely sure of the person we were travelling with. The hotel owner spoke to the driver, took his phone number and called us after a while to check that everything was OK. Trust me - you will have a nice time here !"
Seth Villa by Magampura Resorts
"Not as described. Very dirty. Not recommended. They refused to refund as well. The ones working at there told us that the owner is doing same thing to all the guests. Even the a hotel owner near by said the same thing. All the guests are seeking alternative places to stay on eve they see Seth Villa"
