Westlake Pearl Apartment & Hotel - by Pegasy Group

I have stayed in several apartments in Vietnam, some of which were a literal horror show, so I was relieved to find this place in such clean, well-maintained condition. Everything, from the furniture to the white goods is in great shape and well equipped, with a washer/dryer, fridge, and microwave. It is excellent value for money and perfectly situated in a prime Tay Ho location, with several restaurants and cafes literally on your doorstep. The view from my room is lovely, and the daily housekeeping is excellent; I really appreciate the free drinking water and the lovely selection of teas provided. Also, complimentary toiletries and slippers are lovely touches that make your stay more comfortable. The 24-hour gym is a decent facility, the A/C works great and the Wi-Fi is strong and reliable. Despite there being only one lift, it is never congested and mostly empty when I use it. Overall, the reception staff are prompt and helpful, and the building is a quiet and peaceful place to be, which is why I have already extended my stay at the regular rate. However, there are a few niggles: the washer/dryer cycle is quite long, so I recommend running it in the evenings. Please note you’ll need to provide your own laundry detergent, which is very affordable. There are no privacy curtains for the large sliding door windows, which can feel exposed. The building is at the bottom of a sloping road, which might be challenging for those with mobility issues, though Grab drivers can locate it easily. Regarding housekeeping, they knock on guests' doors daily in the morning to find out if you require their service, which I find intrusive. A better system would be for guests to notify reception, who can then communicate it to the housekeeping team. During the day, there are sometimes loads of staff members hanging around the reception area, including in the gym on their phones; I once decided not to use the gym because of this, though it was fine when I went back the next morning as there was only one staff member present. Upon check-in, I was offered a free upgrade on the condition that I left a 5-star review on Tripadvisor immediately! Really off-putting is an understatement! I bypassed this by saying it would sense to do so after at least staying the first night. It wasn't the best initial impression, but despite this, I am very happy with my accommodation as it fulfils most of my requirements as a solo traveller. It’s a place I would recommend and stay again.

Apartment was spacious and comfortable. Ameneties provided were sufficient. A/C worked very well to keep the room cool during the hot weather. Walkable to Westlake and not too far from Lotte Mall.
