We had afternoon tea here. Staff friendly and attentive. Would have liked some more traditional cake Victoria sandwich. And less fancy sandwiches but I would recommend this for a lovely treat as you are treated like royalty. Lots of different teas to choose from and you can even add a glass of champagne.

This is a beautiful old building with fantastic grounds. We stayed 2 nights in room 11 within the main house whilst visiting Southampton boat show. Our room was spacious and clean enough. Unfortunately the the place is very let down by the young inexperienced staff who lack good customer service, attention to detail and knowledge. We emailed the hotel in advance that I am Gluten intolerant, there were some GF biscuits on the tea/coffee tray in our room, but sadly no standard biscuits for my partner. The Oak dining room experience was unpleasant to say the least, I found it hard to enjoy my overpriced food once I finally struggled to work out what I could actually eat. I find it hard to understand why there was no separate GF menu, when they had a Vegan menu ( a lifestyle choice ) being GF is a dietary requirement, I would be very ill if I ate it. The menu, had symbols next to it of what the dish contained ( difficult enough to see in the poor lighting ) menu also states speak to your server for advice, one waitress, we could not understand, so there was not much likelihood she was going to understand me ! She sent someone else over, he asked me what I would like, then he had to go and ask the Chef if this could be done, after 3rd attempt I ended up ordering something I didn't particularly like, just to get something to eat, by the time it finally arrived on a cold plate, I was so frustrated and fed up of people staring, I could barely eat anything. I feel if hotel could provide a separate GF menu this would be less stressful for staff and guests alike. Breakfast was looking hopeful, said on menu, GF breads, pastries and cereals available, just ask, so far, so good. Then came the order for hot food, not a great deal of choice except for full English, I asked our young waitress if they had GF Sausages, she said yes we do, excellent, I ordered English breakfast minus black pudding. My breakfast arrived, no sausage, I alerted waitress, she apologised, went back to kitchen, as I started to cut bacon, I noticed one end of it was raw, the beans were luke warm, cold plates again, We called over waitress to take a look, she apologised again, offered us more coffee, I asked if the sausage was in its way, by this time I would have been happy with just the freshly cooked one, to which she replied, " oh did you still want it ?" She trotted back into kitchen, came out again and reported that they needed to be cooked. We gave up and left , with no breakfast. In the afternoon on our return from boat show, we decided to have a pot of tea in the lounge area, staff were milling around, but no one came over, trying to get their attention was impossible, like we were invisible, my partner had to literally go upto them and ask for some service. When the tray of tea arrived, no sugar, no tea spoons , young in experienced staff again. We shouldn't have to ask for theses essential items when you order tea for 2, surely. That evening, we ate in lounge area,

I stayed here for a week in July 2024. It is a beautiful circa 1700 protected country mansion with extensive grounds. Imagine centuries old trees, vast manicured lawns, flower gardens, and other botanical treasures, including a large koi pond. My room was spacious, pleasantly appointed, and immaculate. The staff is universally polite, helpful and welcoming. The facilities are extensive. It represents real value for money. If you want a tranquil country place, but not far from restaurants, shopping, and rail to London, you'll love it. It is like bring a guest at Downton Abbey in the late Victorian - Edwardian age. Simply splendid!

Recently stayed on a Friday night to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We had stayed at Tylney Hall for a couple of nights after our wedding so were keen to return. The house, grounds, and rooms are fantastic, and we had a lovely meal in the Oak Room—it really is a beautiful location. However, we had a couple of issues, which I have emailed about but have not received a response from the hotel itself - which always worries me when places do not accept any form of constructive criticism or even have the decency to reply. Two issues in particular - we ordered a cocktail in the bar, off the bar specials menu that was on the bar - it was obvious to us that the lady who took the order had no idea how to make the drink or how to prepare it, whilst we were still standing at the bar another member of the bar staff told her to 'google it'? (this was a drink off the menu not some complex concoction!). I queried this and was told 'they were short-staffed'. Breakfast: You book a time slot for breakfast, and it's absolute chaos. We, along with several others, were left queuing in the hall outside the dining room. When we eventually got a table, there was no apology or explanation, and the majority of the dining room staff left at 10 despite breakfast running until 11. At the prices being charged, staffing and service and general customer care should be so much better - and management should have the common courtesy to respond when emailed (the hotel and the manager (Sam) email address from the website).

Elite member for 7 years this is our favourite. Room 15 was a great size and spotless. (In mansion) Moulton Brown products. Dinner both nights very good. The staff cannot do enough for you. Breakfast first morning was very good. The grounds, pools and service make this hotel just a wonderful place to come. Hubby has been very poorly and this relaxing time was most welcome. Highly recommend.

I visited today with my parents as a treat for my Dads 81st birthday. It was a really lovely experience and we were all thrilled from start to finish. The hotel setting is delightful - the grey room is beautifully stylish and calm. The afternoon tea was delicious, from the range of teas, the unlimited sandwiches, the warm light scones and the gorgeous cakes. The service was just right - attentive enough but with no sense of being rushed. At £39 per head, I would of course expect a quality experience and thankfully this didn’t disappoint. I would definitely recommend and I’m sure I will return for another special occasion in the future. We had a brief walk in the grounds after our tea - I wish we had stayed longer in fact and explored more widely but maybe next time.
