We stayed for 3 nights in the Rouge room which is at the front of the B&B. The room itself was comfortable and reasonably well appointed. However the road in front of the B&B is very busy and so there was a fair amount of noise. The breakfast was very well cooked and of a good quality using we were told local produce. However the arrangements for breakfast not so good. The first night we were asked what we would like for breakfast the next morning and at what time. The next night we happened to see the hostess and again were able to tell her what we wanted the next day. The third night we did not see anyone and so when we went down for breakfast we were made to feel uncomfortable as we had not told her what we wanted and at what time. If breakfast needs to be ordered the day before there should be a form to complete and it should be made clear that this was needed. Also at breakfast - there were cereals but we were not asked if we wanted them and the cooked breakfast was ready immediately at the time requested. The table we sat at near the window needed cleaning as did the window as there were spiders webs and dead insects. The B&B had good parking and was convenient for the city centre

I write this in apprehension based on the owners inability to accept any form of feedback (based on previous reviews and response ) however I believe that everybody in hospitality should be able to take onboard constructive criticism without prejudice towards the consumer ! We have previously stayed here before and I never wrote a review as I just felt maybe it was a bad day in the office. As soon as my husband told me he had booked it (he does a lot of business in Hereford) my first thoughts were the rudeness of the manager (I don’t think she’s the owner) (*note I have after this visit had to decide that it maybe is just her ‘tone’ and that it’s not a tone suited to this role.) On our last visit I went to help myself to some fruit to find that it was absolutely covered in mould underneath. Not just a small amount either. I reported this to said manager who instead of being mortified as I would expect - almost berated me for even mentioning it. This time unfortunately not much better. I arrived at the property after a long journey and was shown to my room. I hadn’t even put my bag down and I was asked what time I wanted breakfast and what I would like to eat. I explained that my husband would be there within 45 mins ( it was only 4pm) and I would let her know ASAP. This wasn’t good enough , she said she needed to know there and then. I was quite out of sorts at this point so just asked if she had a menu to choose from. The reply was ‘no.. poached egg, fried egg or full English’ At this point I just chose a full English as I wanted her to leave my room so I could sit down. And your husband ? What time ? More questions.. I explained that I didn’t know at this point as I was unsure if he was working the following day or not . Eventually she agreed to allow me to let her know. We stayed in the ‘deluxe’ four poster room.. I must say it’s very cramped and very Dark - although it was clean enough. At 5ft 2 there was two mirrors in the room both too high for me to look in and both in dark corners of the room - very difficult if you want to get ready. A small stool and mirror would be a great addition to the drawers in front of the window. I rang and asked for an iron and she told me to come down for it which I did. She brought it from the under cupboard and I asked her where was best to iron (no chance in our room) to which the reply was ‘well where do you want to iron’ ! I can’t explain this ladies tone of voice unless you have ever experienced it. It’s almost like you’re a bother to her. I tried after that not to converse with her. Next morning we didn’t have any chance to have any cereal as the breakfast was served dead on 9am. I do not say this lightly - but this was probably the worst breakfast I’ve ever been served in a hotel. It was evidently so greasy just by sight alone. The mushrooms were coated in fat, the bacon was dripping and the egg was fried within an inch of its life. I just could not even eat it and left the whole plate. U

I booked last Friday and Saturday nights several months ago in order to attend a wedding nearby. I called in advance to stay I would be arriving by 9.00 pm on Friday evening. The proprietor was completely unwilling to be flexible, and told me the door would be locked at 8.00 pm because she needed her sleep. I could not arrive between 14.00 and 20.00 on Saturday either because I was attending the wedding. I cancelled, and paid for two nights and was left finding emergency accommodation. Not the kind of hospitality that I would expect from such a well reviewed property. I write this as a warning to other prospective guests.

We stayed at Holly House B&B for 2 nights, we parked on the adequate driveway to the front of this charming old house. Sandra greeted us, invited us in and showed us to our room, number 1 'Rouge Room' and took our breakfast order and the time we would like have it. This bedroom is at the front of the property, on the 1st floor, overlooking the driveway and front garden. It has adequate storage space, lighting, tea/coffee/biscuits are provided and replenished, there is a TV, large comfortable bed and an ensuite shower room with complimentary toiletries, fluffy towels and robes. We were very comfortable and slept well. We had the full English breakfast with toast and tea/orange juice, this was of generous portions and delicious. There is adequate parking in the driveway of the house, there are a few steps up to the front door, I noticed there is a ground floor bedroom. There is guest wifi available. Sandra is a great host, friendly and knowledgeable about good places to go to in Hereford for food/drinks. The taxi company she recommended were spot on too. We had a great weekend in Hereford. We hope to return, thanks again.

The host, Sandra, was very welcoming and has lavished loving care in furnishing her period hotel. Not for minimalists as detail abounds to give a plush, comfy effect in individually themed rooms. The breakfasts and in room drinks facilities were great, there is a good car park and it is onlt 10 mins walk into the town centre. A good stay, thank you.
