Brandon Lodge Hotels in Hereford

Brandon Lodge

"Email received saying check in was until 9:30pm (this information was not available at booking). As I was leaving work late I contacted Monique who was very helpful and advised that we could still access our rooms. When we arrived our rooms were very clean, comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. They are a bit dated but felt cosy. Hot water for a shower took about 5 minutes to run through but was powerful enough and warm. The only thing in the room that would help is another hook in the bathroom for towels as they kept falling in the floor - only a minor point though. Monique served us at breakfast on our first day - nothing was too much trouble. She was attentive without being too much. Rooms were cleaned and made up whilst we were out. The only slight negative was the second morning there was a different staff member at breakfast who wasn’t as helpful or welcoming - granted it was slightly busier with 4 more tables than ours. I received less food when I made the same order and we received less toast (3 full slices for 4 people) than on our first breakfast. We weren’t checked on and so I had to catch the lady who served us and she seemed a bit flustered by this. I requested some more toast but rather than just bring more she wanted the last two slices to be removed first so she could take the toast rack (we were going to eat but this felt odd as I assumed there were more toast racks in the kitchen). By the time we received the toast we had all nearly finished our breakfasts. The lady then asked to clear the table and I requested that she wait until we had all finished eating. She continued to take all plates except mine whilst I was eating still which felt rude. This made me feel rushed and in the way. I would appreciate if the room was busy and tables were needed but this was not the case and it was still within breakfast service. When we left the table, bowls were still left so it does make me feel like she just wanted us to leave ( despite us being there for only 35 minutes). I appreciate this could just be down to experience but it may be helpful for this lady to see how Monique manages the breakfast at Brandon lodge. Overall we had a great stay. The hotel is comfortable, clean but a bit dated. We would however return and reccomend."

"Great service, friendly and helpful staff, the room was clean and well kept. The bed was rather old and creaky, but otherwise comfortable. Always enjoy staying at hotels and inns with a lot of history, this is certainly one of them!"

"Wow! What a place, what a stay, what a service. We were absolutely blown away from the word go. We were celebrating my brothers 40th birthday and wanted somewhere that we could all celebrate, but also not be on top of each other. It was fab! Top Marks: -Rooms were spacious, had lovely toiletries, towels were fresh and not 'hotel' feeling. The showers in the ensuites were like waterfall showers and no temperature issues. The bedding was soft. -They provided lots of baby things to help us, like highchair, changing mat, cot, even plastic bowls and cups. -They had all cleaning stuff we needed, they even stocked the kitchen with tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, and a couple of packs of biscuits. -The fridge was huge and perfect for a large group with multiple family members with different food requirements. There was even a radio, so when the speaker we brought with us needed charging, we could still have a dance. The kitchen also had every utensil you could need. -The heating was changeable upstairs and down, so we were never cold. Only would say that Strawberry Norman room upstairs got a bit warm in the night as it is on the second floor. -They provide loads of little extra touches like games, dvd's activities etc. Each room does have a tv, but we had too much fun to use the ones in the rooms, the kids enjoyed watching a ovie in the bar snug. -The bar had a full selection of every glass you could want - we just put a chair in front of the entrance to stop the kids getting behind there. -The garden was the stand out moment. With the lovely comfy furniture under the gazebo and the perfect lawn, we all had so much fun playing games, with horses running in the distance and gorgeous views. -It was spotless - so clean - i genuinely couldn't see a cobweb anywhere, which must be so hard to do in a house that size. -The service and personal care from Chris & Nadia was impeccable, through all the conversations and booking process, nothing was too much. I rang quite a few times to check if certain things were there and it was never any trouble. They even have a full laundry. Only possible things to say for improvement would maybe be the internet. With it being BTGuest internet it was limited and meant that streaming any music was slightly more difficult (but still ok) unless we downloaded it first. Also potentially having a tv downstairs that you could connect to apps, so the kids could watch things - but seriously i am trying to find an improvement, as the kids were having too much fun everywhere else to think about tv. Also the stair well is very grand and wide, so difficult with a 1 year old toddling around - nothing to be improved of course, but for anyone going with a baby, bring enough bags to barricade the bottom of the stairs. Overall we absolutely loved it and definitely made some core memories that will last a lifetime. My 4 year old was devastated he had to leave, so hopefully we can return one day. Thanks Chris &"

Premier Inn Hereford City Centre (Old Market) ★★★
"Check in was easy, room clean etc. The issue was breakfast in the morning. The attitude of the lady in charge was awful. She was very rude to customers and staff. Said we should of booked breakfast the night before even though we had paid in advance. We were never told we had to book in advance. Breakfast took ages to arrive. Young lad working was nearly in tears because of her attitude towards customers and staff."
