The Green Dragon Hotel

Room dirty. Dusty floors and skirting. The walls had been painted around the TV and headboard. Cracks in the ceiling which had been painted over. Stains on the throw on the bed possibly blood? Reported this via email and reception and have still not received a reply.

Over more than 30 years I’ve stayed at The Green Dragon a handful of times. With mixed results. On this occasion: reception was manned and reasonably friendly. I was pleased, initially, to be on the first floor as I dislike lifts. My room had a window facing to the rear (definitely) with a view to a brick wall. The room was a good size and the bed enormous. The shower functioned well. I felt pleased at the outset thinking it had improved from my last visit. I didn’t use the restaurant as the last time I stayed that had proved a mistake. I didn’t book breakfast because it seemed unreasonably expensive. Thus far I would have been tempted to award “good”. The problem: my room must have been over the back entrance through the garages. There was noise from beneath my room between my return after dinner out (before 9) and sleep (after 10). I did sleep but was woken well before 7 by similar noise levels. Rumbling wheels and loud clanking which I can only assume were deliveries. These continued until I was forced to get up and get out. I attempted to raise this issue at reception but received a dismissive “must have been noise from the road at the front”. It wasn’t, but since my taxi had arrived to take me to the crematorium I wasn’t about to stop and discuss. You need to offer this room at a discount or, better yet, put noise absorbing material on the floors through the back entryway. Or both. It’s not an acceptable noise level at an acceptable time. I’m unlikely to stay here again.

The hotel was lovely, staff were very helpful. They only thing we got frustrated with is noisy people coming back to their rooms, don’t have a thought for others. But that’s not hotels fault.

Great hotel in a central location, very nice staff. Recommended if you are staying in Hereford.

We had our wedding breakfast and the reception at Green dragon and stayed the night afterwards. Since the first time we walked in to look at the ballroom and met seniour sales manager Katie,we knew straight away we found that special and beautiful place ,where we want to spend our most important day . Since day one and all year planning ,me calling and keep changing my plans ,the events team helped us with all they passion and dedication, what an amazing team you got,we can't thank you enough. If we would need to choose our wedding place again,we would definitely would choose you guys again and again and again. The room was great and been put up so much effort for us to feel special. Business meal midweek - didn’t disappoint Tasty options - think all menu available Friendly & attentive service I would say my steak wasn’t truly rare but small issue and tasty all the same Great espresso martini to finish the evening Many thanks

We stayed for 2 nights recently using a voucher bought for me as a 60th Birthday present. Overall we had a pleasant stay and some aspects were much better than expected, however some customer service training would not go amiss. We had contacted the hotel prior to arrival about the birthday celebration and our room was pleasant and made up as a double as requested, the inclusive dinner on the first night was excellent and we enjoyed drinks later in the cocktail bar looked after by very good young staff. Unfortunately our toilet flush broke on the first night and we advised this to the reception team the next morning. We were out till 10pm that evening and on return asked if this had been fixed and were told no it was broken! We were offered the chance to move rooms but at10pm after a long day at the Hay Festival didn’t feel we could do this and retired for the night. Sadly at breakfast and check out our experience deteriorated further, staff in the restaurant this morning were unfriendly, inexperienced and had to be constantly prompted by residents. Check out was extremely rude and we were made to feel like an inconvenience when we queried the bill which we had been over charged on with no offer of any gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience of having to lift the toilet cistern every time we needed to flush the loo! We were therefore left feeling a little disappointed at the end of what could have been a great stay, the hotel is a little tired overall but good customer service and knowledgeable caring staff can make such a difference.
