The Merton Hotel

This hotel was booked in February of this year i have the confirmation proof of this booking. When i arrived at the hotel after a long drive the person behind the desk said there is no booking for me. I showed him my confirmation and he said it doesn’t matter as he hasn’t got the booking. I said no worries just give me another room he dismissed me out of hand and said there was nothing go and try the premier inn around the corner. My daughter and I were checking on line for places to stay when another group came in and exactly the same happened to them. God knows how many other disappointed people turned up to this place to find exactly the same problem. We had travelled 4 hrs to get here and as there were no other available vacancies anywhere in Hereford we have to turn back around and go home. What a truly disgusting set up they have at the MERTON i will never go back

We should have known from the outside that this HOTEL was nothing like the Website photo's. NO BAR, NO RESTAURANT. We didn't stay even though booked in for 3 Nights. Phoned owner on return home PROMISED REFUND for 2 Nights that was on the 5th May 2022 still WAITING FOR MY MONEY BACK.

I stayed one night at the Merton hotel and was very glad that I did. It's not fancy, but it's clean, it's comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful to me. Plus, the location was perfect, right near the train station and the bus station- with a grocery store just down the street. I had originally booked into a guesthouse on the other side of town and found it did not suit my needs at all, so this was a last minute booking that I was especially grateful to have made. I would definitely stay here again, for a short term visit.

Well placed for the city centre and easy walking to the train station. Basic amenities but it’s clean and friendly and the bed was comfortable - at these prices it’s great value.. Kitchen currently closed but breakfast at the Wetherspoons across the road was fine.

Knowing the Merton of old, I thought we had a bargain. Unfortunately the whole place needs a massive refurb. The bar and restaurant are closed and the rooms were fairly clean but really need an overall. Shower curtain was mouldy and a deep clean is needed. The position of the hotel is fantastic though for a night out in Hereford

Disappointing to say the least. Bed was very comfy but the room was showing signs of tiredness. The room was very clean to be fair. Shower was more or less useless. Cold with no power. The whole place could do with a revamp or shut down one or the other. Such a shame really as it is in a prime spot. I will not be staying here again.

Run down, cold, dirty, strange smell and a shower that's extremely weak and is luke-warm at best. This hotel has nothing going for it whatsoever with the only redeeming feature being its proximity to the town centre and travel links. Avoid at all costs
