Tired is the way I would describe this guest house, and tired is how my partner and I felt after leaving! Sadly, although this hotel has lots of charm and open space, it is rather uncared for. Whilst Doreen, who we spoke to on the phone was lovely, when we arrived at the hotel there was no one on-site, we were given codes to access the hotel itself, and then to access the room keys. When we got into our room there was no toilet roll provided and no one to ask. The room itself had an extremely uneven floor so much so that we had to be careful where we walked (it felt like floorboards under the carpet were broken). The beds were hard and creaky and the curtains and blinds had mould on them. The windows and glazed doors were in need of a clean too. Hotels in older buildings, such as the Hopbine, have their charm and this place could be charming, but it felt tired and uncomfortable. The dining room is permanently closed sadly, with the breakfast was delivered to our door in paper bags. There was no choice as to what food we could have for breakfast and some of the food neither of us could eat - and there was no conversation with the staff regarding this. The ample outdoor space is inviting but the seating was old and worn which was a bit off-putting. The sheets and bathroom were clean and the location was very convenient but I can't say this place is value for money based on our experience.

Terrible place avoid at all costs. Rooms are dusty, mouldy, heater hanging off the wall, light fittings unsafe, no Wi-Fi in the bedrooms despite being advertised. No staff, a mystery bag which is your “breakfast” appears outside your door in the middle of the night containing cheap prepackaged tat. Tea and coffee tightly rationed. Very poor run on a shoestring.

Hopbine House was extremely dirty, with broken heaters and electrics exposed. On the bedside table, there was coffee stains and very dodgy looking white crystals. The managers were unhelpful and not prepared to offer a solution to this. We had to look elsewhere for accommodation as we were not able to stay at Hopbine House- too many health and safety hazards. DO NOT stay here.

I know this is a budget b and b bot honestly This place is disgusting filthy and worn out.. Mound around bath seal. Flaking paint on the bathroom ceiling. Filthy bathroom floor. Ground level Bedroom floors were very spongy and felt like you would go through it whenever we walked across it. There was excessive amounts of dust on the wooden bed frame and the bedside cabinets. Cables running up the walls not in any trunking. Mound growing all around the ald wooden windows and worst of all the curtain lining was thick with mound. This room wasn’t fit to be just as a guest house and is way beyond needing simple cleaning or repairs. It disgusting and needs a major renovation. They don’t even bother having a checking service. You simply call a number and they tell you to go to a selection of key boxes on the wall. You are then told which box you key is in and are given the code to open it. They don’t provide a cooked breakfast they just dump a bag outside your room containing a few bits. Dry porridge oat pot, a yoghurt and a few other bits. Can only assume it’s because the kitchen wouldn’t pass a food hygiene check.

What a wonderful looking place on their website !!! That's where it ends ,in reality it is NOTHING like the website ,it was the FILTHIEST place you could imagine and then some . When i finally found the owner (no other staff ever seen) she ASSURED me she would have the room thoroughly cleaned in my absence the following day ,It was on this upstanding that i agreed to stay. The first night ,I borrowed clean bedding from the relative i was visiting. Upon our return the next night after a function we found the room in the same state .Do not be fooled by the sweet little old lady she is nothing but a deceitful con artist how takes £150 and gives you a urine stained mattress, the same sheets from the previous occupant, a carpet you dare not take your shoes off to step on ,slugs crawling up the bathroom walls ,dried urine and filth on the bathroom floor ,lights that don't work, hair dryer that sparks, black mould over the bathroom ceiling and over all ghe grouting , curtains hanging with cobwebs and big black spiders ,every light fitting hanging with dust ,a four poster bed with thick black dust dropping on to the pillow. Kettle with black mould in the lid , window frames with white mould fungus growing on them , and a breakfast consisting of a dead croissant and a black banana ,uht yog and juice . This place should be shut down by environmental health , she is a disgrace to the beautiful city of Hereford.

When we arrived we did feel like we were in some kind of game show by having to call the number and getting directed to the key boxes and then to our room, it made us laugh though. The room itself had a lovely 4 poster bed, which was comfortable. I agree with the other reviews that it is in need of a good clean and getting some air into the building. I do feel many years ago this would of been a beautiful place. Compared to a lot of places this isnt expensive, so I guess you get what you pay for. Hopbine house served its purpose for what we needed, somewhere just to get your head down.

Lovely b&b great size room mattress was very comfortable I usually have trouble sleeping away from home but was out like a light. Loved the breakfast in the bag in the morning. The lovely lady helped us when we arrived with getting our keys and showed us to our rooms. Would definitely visit again

Quite possibly the worst B&B that we've both stayed at, ever. Save your pennies, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Dirty, smelly, dark and unwelcoming. No host to greet us, and an escape room type exercise to get through the doors into our room. Corridors leading up to the room smelt of wet dog. Once in the room, we found it the darkest, most unwelcoming environment. Bed linens were stained, and I'm sure the bed had not been changed. We found a broken pane of glass leading to a spiders paradise outside. Toenail clippings on the floor, big globs of someone else's hair in the broken shower. It was truly manky, and I wouldn't go back if I were paid! Breakfast was sufficient, I suppose. Left in a bag on the door. Tea coffee and milk were rationed. I appreciate that it's an old building, but it requires huge investment and a lot of TLC to make it habitable for guests. I'm pretty sure the carpet in the room was new, in a vain attempt to spruce up the room, but you can't polish a turd.
