What a great find. Awesome staff, friendly guests, great breakfast- yes, it is on the pier in hermosa and there is a lively nightlife. They give you earplugs, if you want them. I loved this Place.

Can't beat the location and active nightlife and beach activities all around the area! Great price for the experience!

By the time I arrived to Hermosa Beach I was tired of the journey and just needed a base to rest and enjoy some fun things in the neighborhood! Surf city Hostel has the nicest location for anybody looking to experience LA beach vibes without effort! Bars, clubs and restaurants and a beautiful view of the beach? Great diverse staff, what else would a solo dude need? Did I mention their community vibe in the social areas of the hostel is pretty cool!

I needed a quick and affordable getaway to the beach one weekend, and this was the perfect spot. It’s walking distance the pier of Hermosa beach, and the sunset there is absolutely gorgeous. The bars are still open until 2am, so you can grab a drink or something to eat, then walk safely back to your room. This hostel is right above a bar, so please keep that in mind. I stayed on a Saturday night and they had very loud music playing until 2AM. I was on the third floor and I still felt the vibrations on my bed. I went on this trip as a solo-female, but if I went with a friend, I definitely would have danced and enjoyed myself at the bar downstairs. Besides the noise at nights, parking was about half a mile away. I would suggest packing lightly if you plan to park your car because the trek is uphill. I didn’t mind too much because I didn’t have a lot of stuff with me and the weather and ocean breeze was incredibly nice. They have socialization activities, but unfortunately, I didn’t attend them. Next time I will definitely be open to joining them.

A fantastic hostel that is in an incredible location right next to the beach. Had the private room and it was affordable and had incredible views and a super comfortable bed and pillows. Staff was super friendly and the vibes were great!

Very honest for the price. I never imagined that I would have a ocean view paying less than 200 a night in HB. Staff members keep everything working and clean. They do security checks, and I didn't mind when they asked my name to check if I had a reservation when changing shifts.

nothing else to say, old wood building with wood paint smell, dors wont lock cause the wooden walls squeak and move!!!
