We had Sunday lunch and wow it was amazing. Fantastic size portions for adults and children the beef was so tender and the gravy was delicious. The puddings are so tasty and the children’s brownie bites got a massive thumbs up from our granddaughter

Perfect, absolutely perfect. Well appointed, spotlessly clean rooms, fantastic food and the friendliest most helpful people you can ask for. Ideal location in the village and a great base for exploring the area. Definitely going again soon.

What a tremendous place! It has never failed to satisfy my expectations. I truly feel part of the family. Room quality and cleanliness unquestionable. This time ate in the restaurant. Fabulous new menu. Breakfast lovely service, hot and freshly cooked. I'll be back!

Stayed for one night b and b before taking the ferry to Isle of Man. The room was well presented and nice and clean with complimentary water and tea and coffee. The shower was very good with lots of pressure. Breakfast was also good with plenty of choice and plenty of food. The only thing I would say is that it would of been nice to have the croissants readily available rather than being cooked to order as we prefer to have them before our cooked breakfast but only a minor point We had a drink in the bar after our walk and we also had an evening meal. The food was just ok and a bit too salty and I thought the prices were a tad on the high side for example a pint of Amber ale and a large white wine was over £15!!! Our waitress with the red hair was very good and attentive. Would stay again but probably eat elsewhere.

My husband and I have recently dined at The Royal and each time we really enjoyed our meals. On both occasions I chose the steak ciabatta which is served with coleslaw, side salad and chips and my husband has had a pasta dish and today the pie of the day which was turkey curry. On both occasions we really enjoyed our meals. A lovely, pleasant place to dine and we look forward to our next time in Heysham.

12 adults with 2 children celebrating 2 birthdays went into the outside covered area and put 3 tables together. We were TOLD after ordering and paying for our food and drinks that it was against their policy to move the tables and we had to put them all back. We explained that we had come out together and why but he repeated that we had to move the tables back. We also said we would move them back once we had eaten. We were also told that they had no nut roast or pork (no apology). The vegetarians among us asked if they could have extra cauliflower cheese to replace the nut roast but that didn’t happen and so extra was then brought out. The roast lamb was cold and extremely fatty. They also brought out wrong meals. We asked to speak to the manager but he was on a day off. The assistant manager was extremely polite and friendly but again let us know that it was the manager who had made the rule about not moving tables. Because of the multitude of unpleasantness and errors we cannot recommend the pub

Had 2 nights over Easter at The Royal. We had a fantastic time. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They looked after us from start to finish. The room was clean, warm and furnished to a high standard with all the essentials including a coffee machine. The breakfast was amazing with plenty of options including local produce. We also had evening meal which was equally good. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay fabulous. We will definitely be back.

We booked several rooms at The Royal Heysham for 23rd - 27th Dec 23 as a Festive Family Treat. This Hotel / Gastropub offers a well-balanced mix of old world charm with modern refinements. Bedrooms sport tasteful light oak furnishings & neutral decor, comfy beds, heating that works, decent coffee and tea facilities, including a small flask of fresh milk each day. We originally planned to dine in on the 23rd & 25th only, but such was the quality of the food & service, we didn’t bother with anywhere else and worked our way through various high quality homemade options on a Menu that seemingly offers something for all tastes. We also tried the cooked breakfast on a couple of mornings and it was consistently good with quality produce, though for our personal taste we’d prefer a freshly squeezed or higher quality orange juice. This, along with what seemed to be an incomplete Beetroot & Goat’s Cheese starter on Christmas Day were the only minor negatives we noted. Beer / Real Ale lovers will not go far wrong here too, with a fine selection offered, including Thwaite’s Cask Amber Ale that quickly became such a personal favourite. However, it was the staff made our stay truly special. From the GM Alasdair through to front of house, restaurant, the two chaps working the bar, the amazing waitress with red hair that served our Christmas Lunch, the cleaning lady, in fact everyone we had the pleasure of meeting. They all made us feel so welcome, more like family than hotel guests!
