To start this review I will mention the few good things about the Malvern Guest House - The bed sheets were clean. - Off street parking available - The location was quiet - The lady who checked us in was polite but this didn't make up for our experience. So now onto the rest- I had booked the Malvern guest house as it was conveniently close to where my partner had an early morning interview (the reason for our trip), it was cheap and they allowed dogs (for an additional £15 charge). When making the booking I got in contact with the Malvern guest house directly to reserve a ground floor room as our old dog cannot manage stairs due to weak legs. So our stay already started off badly when we were told on arrival, that the ground floor rooms were taken and our room was now up a flight of stairs. We were then resigned to awkwardly dragging our dog up the stairs as he cannot be picked up with out getting aggressive. (Our departure was even more stressful for everyone as we had to muzzle him and carry him downstairs). So onto the room itself. At first glance it was exactly what we were expecting from a cheap room; basic, nothing special, just somewhere to sleep one night. On closer inspection the room was clearly tired and in dire need of a clean. -The carpet clearly hadn't been hoovered as there was long hair dark hair all around the desk, as well as the occasional stain. -The bed, whilst the sheets were clean was extremely uncomfortable. Either a very cheap mattress, a very old mattress, or both! It seemed to sag in the middle so me and my partner had to sleep as far apart as we could get so we didnt roll into each other. One one side several of the springs could be felt and heard. (We didnt sleep well) - The toilet had a black ?mold? growing around the water line. - The shower head was gross with a build up of line scale and pink mold. - And although we couldn't identify where it was coming from where was a distinct smell of urine coming from the floor around the bed (I guess this is the risk of staying in a dog friendly b&b?) - The rest of room was generally tired with a wonky headboard, rusty soap holder, etc so could do with an update. Due to our experience of our night, we didn't try the breakfast, so can't comment. But thought £7pp for toast with beans, or toast with eggs seemed a touch ridiculous. We had breakfast at the Greggs down the road instead.
