Awa Holbox Hotel Boutique - Beach Front

The cyclone 5 days ago meant that there were special circumstances. The front of the hotel suffered a lot, the water reached the ground floor. The pool was filled with sand and sea water. We understand that these are exceptional circumstances. What would we have wanted? Communication in advance. It just wasn't the hotel we expected from the pictures. We would have come anyway, but we would have felt better welcomed. Other hotels quickly set up a few loungers, but unfortunately the AWA didn't, you could only use the pool on the roof terrace. The staff were friendly, but a little more accommodating and communication in advance would have been nice, as the stay was not one of the cheap ones.

The AWA boutique hotel does not keep its promises. Indeed the hotel is still partly under construction, during our stay in January 2024 there were workers, there is a lot of garbage in front of the hotel and the smell that goes with it!! Our room was close to the rooftop and the rooms are poorly soundproofed. The rooms are pleasant but are not finished (no TV, no fridge, no safe, no hair dryer). it is not a 5 star hotel. Beach seats are missing on the beach About the restaurant? The problem is not the food but the service, the waiters are all on their phones, refusing to serve customers, making them wait unnecessarily, except at TIPS time… it is not normal that the hotel does not reserve prime seating for hotel guests on the rooftop and prefers to bring tourists from the beach. The hotel remains well placed on the island, it has the potential to be pleasant but for the moment it does not keep its promises.
