Lucked out completely with this Mexican Isla Holbox gem. Travelled with a good friend from Toronto. We chose based on current reviews but had no idea of the area so were pleasantly surprised that it was walking distance but far enough from "town" that there was no noise even on Saturday night (party night as it were, where there are DJs and live music, street parties outside restaurants/clubs). Room assigned was a 2 queen with a balcany as well as upper terrace. Generous amenities plus room has a coffee maker. Kept very nicely. Of particular note are the following: USD to peso exchange at the hotel for local vendors/shops; ask the housekeeping staff or front desk for more Crystal water bottles for your room or to consume (no charge, whereas the Fiji water at the bar/resto is $); book the gym a day in advance; get beach towels and put on chaises at the beach EARLY in the morning to save your place for the day. Staff to be acknowledged - Cesar and Daris at the front desk, Arturo, Jorge and Gabino at the beach resto. Jorge was just the BEST - knew where to send us for wine and snacks in town. Incidentally, staff still wearing masks everywhere, but guests are not required most places. I'd say 9/10 on most things. Hot water in the shower/sinks just didn't happen...not complaining as cool/warm showers felt refreshing after being in the heat on beach all day. Just, if you are looking for that steaming hot shower it isn't happening. Speaking of beach - you can walk for many kilometers both ways (some through shallow water) from Mystique. The water is lovely - shallow for 300 feet or more out to sea! Water is clear of tons of sea**** and what washes up at night is mostly cleared at this hotel daily. You see some down the beach but the water itself is not full of it. Sand bars are visible and people sit/walk on them the whole expanse in front of the various properties. Sunsets are to die for in in this place - just gorgeous but remember your bug spray for that 30 min after the sun goes down as the mosquitoes are annoying then. Managed fine by spraying and staying in side from about 7-7:30 before walking into town every evening. We loved our visit and would not hesitate to go back there or recommend to fellow travellers!
