Amazing staff, 5 star service, town area was spectacular!

We visited the day after the worst flooding in 8 years, covering the entire island. Despite this the staff made it work and kept us comfortable, dry, and well fed,

Well I would start of by saying that it is definitely a brilliant 3 star hotel with a (small) pool. By no standards we found this to be 4 stars. The Positives : 1) Breakfast. Very nice breakfast , with lot of options that also get changed on a daily basis. 2) Most service staff were really helpful , but especially the ones in the restaurant and bars. (Front desk guys seemed overworked) 3) Rooms are large with enough place to put your luggage and the hammock in the balcony (if provided) is a nice touch ! 4) 10-15 minutes walk to most places. In the day time one might need a taxi since it is hot which the front desk helps to call. Cons: 1) Lack of attention ? We reserved for two rooms and Ofcourse even messaged at the time of reservation for these together. Forget connecting rooms but the two rooms were like on either end of the resort ! No apology or explanation given. 2) Mind you, not all junior suites have a Balcony! Even though advertised. One of the rooms has a balcony but twin beds, the other had a king but no balcony. Again, no explanation provided. 3) The AC was really straining itself to cool down the room (807). We didn’t complain as it didn’t bother us and put the fan on but in peak summer this is a problem. 4) If you’ve trouble climbing, most of their rooms are up a winding wooden staircase. Would have been nice if they would give us an intimation before. The other room (232) was on the third level. 5) The mattress was good but the pillows have seen better days and so have the towels. Again , I wouldn’t mention this if this was a 3 star but since it’s a 4 star as advertised, the quality was definitely not up to standard . 6) The bathroom was really like one in a motel. Even the basin :( with the toilet in a separate “room”. The shower pressure was quite weak as well. 7) The thing which kind of ticked us off the most was , even with having the bracelet that identified us as hotel guests , we were made to pay at each and every time we ordered a drink or something that wasn’t covered. You go to the pool for a dip and you order a drink . You need to pay. Which means we had to take our wallet with us every time when going for a dip to the beach or the pool. Strongly felt like the Hotel doesn’t trust their own house guests. 8) The beach is full of sea ****. Not the hotel’s fault though but I did see other hotels cleaning those up every day.

First time to Holbox, we would definitely stay at Paraiso again after having checked out other similar more expensive resorts nearby. Very nice and attentive staff.

The place is lovely (not luxury), but comfortable and clean, staff were friendly and the breakfast is fantastic! The only downside is lots of young children and it’s loud from early in the morning - from kids shouting /screaming in the very small pool or parents being equally as loud to their kids. If it’s peace and relaxation I wouldn’t come here!
