The Mint Hotel 84 gets the basics right with clean, comfortable rooms and friendly service staff. My room was a standard double with a queen bed, it had everything I needed including a desk, coffee maker, and good water pressure in the shower. The bed was fairly comfortable and the room was cleaned promptly every day. The breakfast spread in the dining area had a variety of options including cereals, toast, fruit, pastries, and eggs. The food was of average quality and freshness, nothing exceptional but sufficient to start the day. The service staff at the front desk and concierge were pleasant, helpful, and efficient whenever I had questions. They provided recommendations for restaurants and attractions in the area. The hotel has an outdoor pool and fitness centre, although I did not use the fitness centre during my stay. The hallways and public areas were well maintained and clean. Overall, the Mint Hotel 84 provides good, no-frills accommodations in a convenient location for exploring Katherine. The price point is fair for the quality you get, making it a solid choice for standard business or leisure travel.

We picked Protea thinking its a basic but well managed brand so should be ok for a 4 days visit on business. However when we went to have a drink with some business people we were shocked to find the bar was lacking at least 60% of what was listed . Lack of beers , NO tonic Water , No soda water , lack of juices and the list went on . We thought the hotel must be going bankrupt . The staff said the suppliers have failed to deliver . We checked out hastily the next day and found a decent hotel with no issues on suppliers not supplying food and beverages. So in a nutshell very disappointing and annoying as we had to change hotels .

If there were another Hilton’s in Johannesburg, that is where I’d be staying. But there is no other option for a loyal Hilton guy like me, so I spent 10 nights at the Hilton Sandton. I will readily admit that from day-to-day, the staff and the facilities were absolutely wonderful. Staff were friendly and accommodating, the Executive Lounge was very well serviced, the restaurant was excellent, the hotel grounds superb, the Business Centre efficient. I had pre-arranged airport pickup and daily business rides through the hotel and our driver MORGAN proved himself many times over to be reliable and flexible thoughout my stay. However, both the checkin and checkout process with the Front Desk were distasteful, disturbed my entire stay, and made me wish I was somewhere else. I had reserved and prepaid for a King room; as a long time Diamond member, I naturally expected some sort of upgrade, especially since I was staying for 10 nights. After 18 hours of flights, and a further 24 hours of layover, all I wanted to do was sleep. I had checked in online and knew my room assignment. At the Front Desk, I handed over my American Express Hilton card, and passports for my wife and I to HOWARD (“an experienced Front Office team member” according to hotel General Manager JOHN MCAREE). At first, HOWARD could not find my reservation and, next, once found thought it had been cancelled and, next, thought the reservation was in my wife’s name (it was not), and finally when he found the reservation, took a copy of my wife’s passport (but not my own for some unknown reason). I then had the temerity to ask if there any possibility of an upgrade. “Oh no no no” said Howard. “Why not” I asked. “Because you checked in online. Once the room is assigned, there is no changing it” said HOWARD. I knew from experience this was rubbish and not in compliance with Hilton policy or procedures. Indeed, when I checkedin online, the Hilton website said that an upgrade would be made available if possible. So I gently persisted in my questioning, and Howard gently insisted that no upgrade was possible since I had checked in online. I believe it was only when I asked for the business card of the General Manager that HOWARD checked with a colleague and, indeed, an upgrade was magically offered. It was the lowest level of upgrade possible, but something is better than nothing. I thanked him for the upgrade, and again asked for the GM’s business card. They had none. Indeed, they wrote down his name for me (three times with three different spellings) but did not know his phone # or email address. (I later googled him and got both). Perhaps due to this little interaction, HOWARD forgot to tell me about the Business Centre, the gift shop, the free shuttle to the local mall, hotel restaurant hours, the WIFI code, the hotel spa, or any of the other hotel services. He did mention the Executive Lounge several times in a tone approaching reverence. Never in my 20 years of experience with Hilton

YTF Review: Disclaimer: Our reviews are solely based on our experiences, not on other readers' experiences or influenced by other readers or entities. You will rarely read ”like other reviewers…” from our posts since we practice not to read reviews and visit with virgin eyes untainted by what others may have experienced. Overview: Located in the heart of Johannesburg, The African Pride Melrose Arch is a luxury boutique hotel in the vibrant Melrose Arch district. The hotel has spacious rooms, a rooftop pool, and a bar. They have various dining options, including their signature restaurant (Aduna Bistro). The location of APM allows you to start your exploration of JoBerg easily. Staff: 5/5 The African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel (APM) staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Welcome drinks, smiles, professionalism, and a great source for local information. All staff members were amazing. Special acknowledgments to Pretty and Mr. D!!! Also, a special shout-out to the lady who delivered the birthday gift to our room. Sorry, we never exchanged names! You know who you are! 😊 Staff makes your hotel; somehow, The African Pride got it right with their entire team. Hotel Room: 4/5 The rooms at the hotel are spacious and beautifully appointed. They have all the amenities you could possibly need, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean, well-lit and spacious. The Pride, though kept well, was slightly dated. There should be some type of assessment of each room so that they are able to keep its mystique intact (it’s time to get rid of every DVD player in your hotel… It's ok, no one will notice) Hotel Grounds: 5/5 It’s situated in Melrose, so the hotel grounds are also part of the Melrose in a way though they do have a pool area, which is spectacular. They also have an amazing restaurant attached to them where you can pick up an amazing breakfast before starting your journey touring the sites in Joburg. Location: 5/5 The location in Melrose Arch is a huge plus. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes are within walking distance, so you'll never run out of things to do. Conclusion: 4.75/5 I highly recommend the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and convenient stay in Johannesburg. You will surely enjoy your stay while you visit JoBerg. Things to be aware of: Power issues plague the entire country. Places like African Pride have backup generators to assist with making your experience more enjoyable. When you have temporary blackouts, it is because the generator is assisting to maintain power to the entire building. Anyone who blames APM for power issues should be more aware of the countries they visit. APM doesn’t appear to have a fitness Gym on site, but you have access to a nearby gym, which is from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., I believe ( I could be wrong). Go to the front desk. They will provide you with access to the facilities and the locati

Very disappointed after our stay at The DaVinci Hotel. I was thoroughly looking forward to this stay as I have not stayed in this hotel before and it had been on my list, check in took quite long, which didn't bother me initially but ended up being a compounding factor after everything else, we had booked online and it took close to an hour for us to get checked in and given our room key, we used this time to look around. When we finally got to our room, we quickly left everything and went to the mall then had dinner, we got back relatively late and only upon getting back did we notice the bed was 2 single beds pushed together, however we booked and paid for a delux king room, needless to say I spent the duration of the evening falling through the 2 beds as I was trying to cuddle my lady, so I didn't get much sleep to say the least. When we got up in the morning I quite badly needed a coffee to wake me up after the night I had and Lo and behold, the coffee machine was not working! By this point you can imagine the frustration.. so we got dressed and went down for breakfast, the process of simply getting a coffee took close to 40 minutes, let alone the food arriving! We actually ended up getting up and leaving because we had plans for the day and did not expect to wait over an hour for our breakfast to arrive! The cold food that was available at the buffet was very dry as well but we scoffed it down and went on our way, it was only while we were walking out that the juice we ordered when we arrived was beginning to make its way to our table, so we were given the bottle and we went on our way We mentioned the incorrect room as well as the coffee machine to the lady at the checkout desk, to which I was reassured that next time we stay it will be nice I can very confidently confirm that there will not be a next time from us, as we do expect a certain service when checking into a 5 star hotel and paying the price that comes along with it On a positive note, the concierge was helpful with taking our luggage to the room Such a pity for a lovely perfectly located place to put such little effort into the quality they provide

Spent a weekend in this hotel. Rooms are clean and the water is hot. Set up as a self catering room but has no kitchen utensils despite having a stove which is a bit odd, although it wasn't an issue to us. our room however was exposed to a very noisy street and on both the Friday and Saturday nights people were coming in at 2am with music blaring, showing no respect for other guests. Though the hotel was very nice and comfortable, but it is in an extremely noisy part of town, I hardly slept through the car and people’s noise from the street. The parking is also way too tight with a single entry & exit point, I don’t think they must allow big cars to park there, or rather alert the drivers of the sharp and tight corners before they drive in.

I am a fairly frequent business traveller and stay in many hotels- most I don’t review as they just don’t stand out! This one however, I had to review!! I arrived a little earlier than check in and was greeted by Itumelemg on reception who was very helpful! My room was on the 18th floor and really lovely and well appointed! I was even treated to an AMAZING biltong platter - thank you!! 😊 Room amenities were great (nespresso coffee and Charlotte Rhys products!) I then had a few meetings close to the hotel (within 5km) and was offered a complimentary transfer and pick up by their drivers. Siphwe really looked after me and was a great ambassador for the hotel. The hotel itself is very well managed but what sets them above their comp set is the team who represent the hotel! Well done to everyone for exceptional service! A fantastic visit- I’ll certainly be back!

TTrapped in travelThis is my second time staying that the Maslow hotel and once again I am very pleased with the service I have received from the staff and I was very impressed with the view I had from my room this time. Definitely going to be a regular stop when I fly to Johannesburg. The centrality of the hotel makes it a perfect stopover for people flying in from other countries because everything you could need is within walking distance and the area is very safe for those who are not familiar with South Africa.

GGuest UserI have never been so poorly treated nor accommodated. The room was tiny and didn’t even allow for the door to open all the way. The full size towels were flimsy and worn so thin, it just felt disgusting. There were no face towels provided, even upon requests. The phone in the room did not work to call downstairs and the television did not connect to internet to work, although it has Internet-only programming. I reported these items to the front desk staff and nothing was done. I’ve decided to shorten my stay and simply leave to a nearby airbnb instead, because this is atrocious. The last encounter was in asking for a late checkout, until I can properly move myself and belongings to my next stay. The manager Amos is the worst. I’ve never seen a manager so unhelpful and useless. He denied my late checkout and pretended the hotel is full in occupancy although there are rooms for display on Hotel Tonight for checkin today. I’ve never not been accommodated with a late checkout and honestly just feel insulted with this entire experience. This was the worst stay ever and an embarrassment to the Marriott brand. I am a loyal Hilton Honors member and it is because of piss-poor experiences like this at Marriott that I will not be changing that loyalty any time soon.

GGuest UserThere can be a lot improved. It wasn't all bad but many aspect require work. their customer service failed where there was no communication given that repairs will be done in my room. I returned at 16h00 to find my room looking like a construction site, only to find they were trying to replace the blinds, they could have communicated firstly, then I was subjected to having to change rooms as they had ordered the wrong part. I had plans at 16h30 and had to cancel a pre booked appointment needing to move my belongings between 2 floors, the hassle being I was already unpacked and had arranged my things properly. The 6yh floor I was moved too had a foul unbearable smell which just made one loose their appetite. The cleaning staff decided to clean at around 23h00 while we tried sleeping, which I couldn't understand, they were never around to assist and when requesting an iron, you'd wait over 30 min before it came. I won't even start on the point of them not having the option of smoking rooms for guests.

GGuest UserAs a guest from Namibia, I recently stayed at Road Lodge for three nights, and I wanted to share my experience with fellow travelers. Overall, the hotel offers beautiful aesthetics and has a friendly and helpful staff, which contributed positively to my stay. However, I must address a significant concern regarding the control of noise within the premises. Upon my arrival, I was immediately impressed by the hotel's elegant design and the warm welcome from the staff. Throughout my stay, the employees were attentive and willing to assist with any requests or inquiries, making my interactions with them enjoyable. Regrettably, I encountered an issue with noise disturbances during my stay, which greatly impacted my ability to rest and relax. After experiencing a sleepless night due to noise caused by other guests, I expressed my concerns and requested a cancellation and refund. The hotel offered an alternative solution by moving me to another room. However, the experience in the new room was even worse, as the noise levels persisted and disrupted my sleep further. As a guest, I believe it is essential for a hotel to maintain an environment conducive to rest and tranquility, especially during nighttime hours. While the hotel's staff was responsive to my concerns, the noise issue was not effectively resolved, ultimately leading to an unpleasant experience. I sincerely hope that the management addresses the noise control concerns promptly. It is my belief that by prioritizing the peaceful enjoyment of all guests, the hotel can provide a truly exceptional experience. I would recommend that the hotel management takes immediate measures to address this issue to ensure a restful and comfortable experience for all guests

GGuest UserWe booked the room with the private pool and it was lovely. The resort overall is beautiful however could do with minor refurbishment as some things are a little old and need attention, the rooms however were clean and bed was large and comfy. The star of this resort is definitely the staff. Upon arrival they were helpful, friendly and went above and beyond. Both Tankie and David contributed immensely to the wonderful experience we had at this lodge. They truly are an asset.

GGuest UserFrom the check in to the day we left, it was one thing after the other. 1. The team that was checking us in was not consistent, the one half was not willing to go the extra mile to solve our request (being moved from a 2 single bed, room to a double bed, room) and the other half made promises that they could not keep (said that we would be moved the following day, without checking for availability first). 2. My colleague asked for the iron numerous times over the period of our stay, and it NEVER came, she had to go get it herself. 3. We ordered room service, and the food came after an hour plus, AFTER i made an enquiry about my order, which was when they were only assembling it. I do get that it might take time however communication on ETA is important. 4. When the food eventually came, there was no cutlery and no condiments. I could write more, but you get the picture.

GGuest UserThe Residency is my stay of choice in Sandhurst/Sandton, this is my 8th stay perhaps more, the same price as a suite in a 4 star hotel, but three times the size and doubly comfortable, with proper kitchen and all facilities you'd expect from a 5 star establishment. The elegance of The Residency apart from its location is its low key helpful personnel, obliging, attentive and kind always helpful, rooms are spotlessly clean and designed in good taste. Unlike other similar locales in the neighborhood, there is no noise, no smells of others cooking. And no unnecessary buzz of activity or doors opening or closing. A blip in the TV reception was rectified within minutes at 22.00 hours in the evening. A very well run establishment, consistent, clean and elegant.
