Modern B & B

Breakfast was great. The room was clean and the facilities felt safe. I waited 30+ minutes to be checked in because no one was on the premises to do so and no one was answering the phone or text. I confirmed my reservation with the B and B several days in advance via phone and received no instructions regarding check-in. I found out later that I should have received an email/text with check-in instructions, but never did. Make sure you do. The room had a bed, a desk table and chair. No thermostat. There was a ceiling fan with a remote that didn't work, so no way to adjust temperature or turn the light off after you were in bed. I was just there one night and it got the job done, but won't return.

We loved meeting people at the B&B and the breakfast was fantastic! I also loved being at the center of Houston which was within walking distance of museums and galleries. Our room was small and certainly adequate, but not exactly what I expected. There is no outside window, but a door with a glass pane provides outside light. Service is good. When we had problems with the internet (slow) and TV (confusing) someone came to help right away. Parking was off-street, but the parking shelter erected had obstacles stored there and we couldn't get the car completely in. It was a little hazardous to walk through that area in the night. I would stay here again, but would look at other rooms. Since most rooms are on higher floors, I also wouldn't pack a lot to keep from lugging suitcases up and down flights of stairs. The main reason I'd stay here is the breakfast and meeting interesting people.

The B&B is incredibly convenient to the Montrose neighborhood. We were in a very spacious room with one of the most comfy beds ever. Lots of stairs, so not recommended for anyone with stairs issues. Good parking on site. No issues with breakfast except for the last day when we were told to microwave the cold coffee in the urn. But I understand that the owners had a New Years' Party the night before, so it's whatever.

If you are into small, intimate, unique and very cool out-of-the-box architecturally designed accommodations, this is the best place to stay in Houston. I stayed in the tree top room with beautiful light pouring in from both sides of the room each morning. That said, do not expect exquisitely refined service or details. I arrived, having called 30 minutes earlier to let them know when I would be arriving, and no one answered the doorbell. I finally called again and they came to open the door. I was initially put off by the dirt on the front door. Hopefully someone in management will read this and take a sponge to the shmutz on the door. The toilet overflowed. That’s okay. It happens. The strangest part was the envelope on the desk from the maid for tips, but, I stayed two nights, and no one ever came in to refresh the room, take out garbage, make the bed. Give me new towels (I had had to use most of them to wipe up the water from the toilet.) nor was there any information sheet in the room explaining if there was maid service or the hours of breakfast etc. when I did go down for breakfast, no one ever asked me if I wanted cooked eggs. All a little bit unwelcoming. On the other hand, the other guests at the communal breakfast table were fascinating. In all - worth the stay for those of us who can’t stand boring cookie-cutter modern hotels.

Lisa was very welcoming and recommended some very cool spots for us to check out! The B&B is located in a cool LGBTQ neighborhood and we loved that vibe! It wasn't bad for our 1st B&B experience. The only complaints I have are no control of the thermostat (we like it cold and it was 73-75 degrees in there) and limited parking. We only saw spots for 4 vehicles. If there were more options, we were unaware.

Maybe I misread the explanation, but I was expecting a charming B&B and I got a quasi hostel experience. The bathroom was tiny, the shower/bathtub is in the room, not inside the bathroom, so very little privacy if you’re not a couple. The fridge was super dirty and someone stole things I had left in there. The good thing about it: location!

City has the road torn up on the side street, but I did not have any issues with parking or noise during my stay

The people who work here as so unbelievably f*cking rude. Don’t even bother coming here. Save yourself the time there are way better places than this sh*t. Also be careful with credit cards here, they WILL bill you regardless if you stay or not EVEN IF YOU CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION.
