The Cambridge Hotel

The hotel is in perfect location, close to the town and the John Smith stadium was an easy 20 min walk. Staff on reception were really friendly and chatty, and let us into our room early. We hadn't pre booked breakfast but glad we stayed for it as all warm and yummy with a good selection. Only downside was the fridge in the room was really noisy. Would Recommend :)
Croppers Arms

Went to the Croppers Arms for a family teatime meal on a Saturday night. Really lovely friendly and attentive staff, great food and super value. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had salmon filet which was perfectly cooked. Will definitely be coming again. Thank you so much! 5*
The Briar Court Hotel

Booked this hotel for one night whilst travelling on business. Very welcoming and helpful reception staff on arrival. Free parking, which is always a bonus. I was assigned a room on the ground floor, which on entering I thought had an odd smell but it had been a long day and a long drive so I headed out to the nearby Italian restaurant. On return the smell was stronger so I returned to the reception desk and explained to the receptionist and asked her to come with me just to make sure that it wasn’t just me who could smell it. Needless to say I was not alone. She offered me 2 rooms, one on the ground floor (near the kitchen) and the other on the upper floor. I opted for the upper floor. However, this room faced the main road and it was a little noisy but by now I just wanted to sleep. Both rooms were clean, bed was comfortable and I had a decent night’s sleep. Breakfast was included in the price and on arrival in the breakfast area I was greeted by another welcoming member of staff. I opted for the English breakfast which was cooked to order. I couldn’t believe the size of it when it arrived - it was huge, piping hot and beautifully cooked. There was also a good continental buffet selection. All in all a decent hotel, great staff and breakfast.

Possible the worse Premier Inn we've ever stayed in unfortuantely. Upon arrival the car park onsite is very short on spaces so I enquired at Reception, who was absolutely lovely and explained the location of more spaces, however its not that simple to get to depending on which road your approaching from. However we found it. Walk from car park was over a very questionable canal bridge and if your disabled or have a pram etc its a bit of a walk. Check in was fine but the reception is very dated. Given a room in the adjacent building. Corridors again very dated and damp smelling. Our room, the curtain pole and curtain was hanging off, smelt of damp, very very tired and dated room and 90's style decor. Lamps, TV - very dated. Restaurant/pub was closed to non-residents, but the fact chairs are staked up and only one person in, was very off putting and was not mentioned before booking. Needless to say then room was not worth the £90 price tag - when we've stayed in nicer for half that price on occasions.
Fortune Huddersfield, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Look at the site bedroom pictures in the ex Premier Inns colours and they have kept to the same excellent quality of rooms, bathrooms and standards. Very pleasant Reception staff, card operated room/ light entry to rooms. Free wi-fi in rooms, lovely bathroom, large flatscreen tv. Bed lovely and comfy with quality covers/duvet. The only downside was the continental style breakfast with no dining room - either go down early to eat in your room or take to your car. NB - Being a Premier Inn before the buy out as a Western, the Restaurant next door used to be the “go to” for your Full English Breakfast- all within the price We instead went to Toby Carvery for a Hot full English “eat as much” as you want self service - just across the large roundabout. Such a Shame nothing is being done.

Stayed one night, fantastic position, fabulous views. Very friendly staff who were so helpful. Room was a little tired but clean, everything worked and the bed was very comfy. Excellent meal in the bar, the steak and ale pie was simply delicious and so filling. I was a little disappointed there were no hand pulls, but there was a decent selection of beers. I didn't try the wine list. Well cooked and delicious full English breakfast the following morning which kept me feeling full till the evening. Overall an excellent place to stay and I will return when next in the area. Excellent value for money as well.
