This is a clean, well-maintained and perfectly located hotel. I have stayed in Iasi frequently over the past 15 years and was happy to see the advent of Hampton by Hilton. It is modern and straightforward. The room was spacious, with wonderful views and spotlessly cleaned and appointed. While there is no mimi-bar or room service (this is a Hampton) all basic amenities were catered for. I feel some previous reviews are unnecessarily harsh. I found little to fault in terms of key services provided. Breakfast was generous and varied with many fresh vegetables and fruit to supplement the usual. It was a great base for work. The location is perfect and ideally placed to walk to the main city highlights. Despite a generally satisfactory experience, however, there was something missing. Friendly rapport and a smile can go a long way. This did not exist. Checkin was cold and wordless. No smile. To my astonishment, I had to pay in advance. Never before in a Hilton branded hotel. There seemed to be very few staff anywhere. Checkout was similarly charmless. I suspected inefficiencies due to the disinterest and inexperience of staff. I was right. Despite being a Hilton diamond member, my points were never recorded and Hilton central cannot locate my folio (although I have a booking reference). This is unacceptable. And I figured out the problem - there is no manager onsite. No team motivation. No supervision. This is a fine hotel with lots of potential but it needs to be managed well and to demonstrate quality procedures!
