Our group had a lovely stay at this hostel and would definitely recommend. We were only there for one night but there was a definite vibe about the place, especially in the common area in the evening. The hostel was easy to find and had tons of parking, and the receptionist was so enthusiastic and eager to help. Our room, was very nice, very clean, and had a lovely view of the loch. The communal areas were lovely, and the outside area looked nice too. We didn’t use the kitchen apart from glasses and cutlery, but it looked well stocked, with cubbies for individual food storage as well. The free tea and coffees were a nice touch, and we loved the wall of recommendations of things to do locally. In the morning we walked down to swim in the loch, and would highly recommend. It was so beautiful and serene in the morning, and truly did feel like a unique and special thing you wouldn’t be able to experience at another hostel. The walk to the nearby waterfall was also amazing, and something we would have missed if not for the wall. Checkout was super easy, and free Wi-Fi in the communal areas was another big plus. The only thing was one of the 2 upstairs showers weren’t working, so there was a big queue for the one shower. But overall we had a great time, would definitely recommend and return if coming to the area again in the future :)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was very clean. The beds and linen was satisfactory. They had some basic supplies for people to buy. There was cards, a pool table and other games available. The toilet and the showers were spotless. Right next to Loch Lomond it’s good for an overnight stay.

We arrived after a long day walking on the GGW, easy to find and we received a warm welcome. Our twin bunk room was a good size and there were plugs and lights for each bunk. The room was a little cold despite the heating being on. Communal shower/toilet facilities just a couple doors down the corridor and were clean enough. Large communal kitchen which was well stocked with cooking equipment and basic food supplies and frozen pizzas could be purchased at Reception. Large communal dining room with views over the Loch. Option for breakfast the next morning at £3.50 each which was a good selection of cereals/toast etc. The Hostel was quite busy the night we stayed so a little extra noise when we just wanted to relax after a long day hiking but still comfortable and convenient.

As we pulled up to Lochside Hostel, I could not believe how remote it was. It has stunning, unspoiled views of the Loch. We only stayed a night before travelling to Inverness but I wish we could have stayed longer. There was no pressure to do anything aside from read in the comfy common areas, take a dip in Loch Ness from the hostels own private beach, chat to the other guests and volunteers and explore the surrounding hillsides. It was amazing to wake up in the morning and see the Loch quite literally from the comfort of your own bed. There was a great and affordable continental breakfast which cost £3.50. There was lots to choose from; toast, cereal, fruit, juices, tea and coffee and scones! There was also food available from the reception such as locally made crisps, beer and dinner foods! The volunteers were lovely and very knowledgeable!

Beautiful spot, tucked in between Loch Ness and the dangerous A82. For the rest I 100% agree with Dibadham's review posted in september this year: "We arrived at Altsigh to be ignored by a gang of sulky volunteers lying across all the comfy seating in the lounge [..] As far as i can tell the only function they perform is to change beds and mop floors [..]". This is not a way to run a place like this.

We arrived at Altsigh to be ignored by a gang of sulky volunteers lying across all the comfy seating in the lounge. The location is fabulous, the kitchen is very well equipped but crammed with volunteers food and messy. As far as i can tell the only function they perform is to change beds and mop floors as interaction with us was limited to a young man behind reception checking us in when they opened at 5pm. What a shame as the few guests were from all around the world and this is not what Scottish hospitality is about.

Where to begin really. Great hostel on the Loch, ideal for a lovely swim although was very cold when I went. Manager from the beginning was marvellous, welcoming, friendly and helpful throughout! All Volunteer were so lovely as well! As a solo traveler you tend to get lonely and I especially have trouble coming out of my shell but with how welcoming the staff were I had no trouble making friends, felt like part of the family. Everyone was really helpful and caring. Beds were very comfy and showers were nice and powerful which i like. No problem sleeping at night, although if your not a morning person ear plugs will be ideal as some people will be wanting to leave early. Great views and a waterfall near by. small shops, cafe and petrol station 10 min drive away which is very helpful! Overall really enjoyed my experience, definitely coming back!
