Concierge: When we arrived the concierge service were absent but our airport transfer driver had to help us and looked for the assistant. Later the assistant helped us all the way to the room ☑️ Reception : A warm welcome provided and Hasan was very helpful, friendly and made us feel valued and kindly accepted my request and offered me a sea 🌊 view room for our long stay. ☑️ Room: It was very good size, amenities was fab, king size bed and other facilities was TipTop. Linen and comfort of the mattress was terrible. Too firm matters and polyester mix linen, never had a good night sleep 😏😴 Spa: Used it for Turkish Hammam and full spa service . Reception at the Spa I would rate a big Zero ‘0’. Masseur Wayan was wonderful I would rate her 10/10. Spa reception doesn’t speak good English and they are rude and make your Spa experience rather stressful than relaxing ❌ Management needs to work on that area. Swimming 🏊‍♂️ Pool: You need to pay 70 Turkish Lira for head cover to access the swimming pool and they will tell you that just before you enter the pool, be ready to pay there and then. Swimming pool temperature was nearly zero! Super cold water . I had to use the Sauna and steam room to heat up the body before I could go in the swimming pool ❌ Breakfast 🍳: Very nice and specious Elite Restaurant. Food choices was great, very helpful staff, cleanings and atmosphere was excellent ☑️ The Grill: Restaurant at 15th level was good, value for money . Could’ve improved with foods choices & service ☑️ Room Service & cleaning : Very good ☑️ Overall: It was a good experience minus the Spa and bed comfort it was good. (Bed & Spa caused minus ⭐️⭐️)

Tango Arjaan by Rotana

Last Saturday September 4 we wanted to sleep at Tango Arjaan of the Rotana chain. We have regularly been guests there and at Burgu Arjaan. This time the reception, hospitality and customer-friendliness were downright bad. So bad that I think it's important to let you know about it. At check-in I handed over my American Express card to make the payment. After a few unsuccessful attempts I gave my Visa card. That didn't go well either. Due to the receptionist's ignorance, I now had 4 reservations on my card. Then she wanted me to pay cash as well. I showed her the reservations, but she thought that was no proof. Next to me was another guest with the same problem. I called Visa. They gave me the authorization codes, which Visa said she could use to check. She refused. I asked about her chef, whereby she labeled the doorman as chef, who obviously couldn't help us either. The most annoying thing is that my wife is Turkish and she could literally follow what she was saying about us. That was downright rude and antisocial. She was tired of helping us, she told her colleague that we could leave, but in other words which even are not possible to post, and so on… If she had worked for me, I would have fired her on the spot, as well as her so-called boss. We also had a Turkish guest with us. He could also follow literally everything. In short, it made us decide to pack our things and leave. Unfortunately we have decided not to use this location anymore. Too bad because we stay in Istanbul a lot and have business connections with Maltepe, where the hotel is close by. A terrible experience and no hospitality.

Checked in no problem. Room was on the 1000 level. The room was fine. Comfy enough bed, decent shower, a little dark but fine. However, at 0044 I had not long fallen asleep and was awoken by some music. To begin with I could not figure out where the music was coming from, I called reception and found out that there was a function on and the music was coming through the walls. The receptionist told me that he would sort it out. He must of as I managed to fall asleep for 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, the tunes came back on but even louder, again I called down to reception. This time I told him if he cant get the music sorted I wanted a room move. he said he'd call back in 5 mins. By this time (0115) I had enough after been travelling since 0600 and up for work at 0800 I was not wiating any longer. I packed what I had left to pack and went down stairs to get moved. Where I had the most uncomfortable experience with the receptionist. I told the guy I wanted a room change, he said he was sorry he didn't have any. I stared at him rather displeased as you would at that time. I said well, what do you suggest?! The volume was ridiculous. After sending the bellboy down to request a volume change again, he shuffled avoiding eye contact and moving around papers. I think he just thought I was going to shrug my shoulders and go back to my bed. I stared at him for a minute more and raised my voice, asked him what the hell is happening? Its nearly 0130 and am standing here tired as F**K, demanded he better sort something out or I wanted the manager. After some more awkwardness he then produced a key card for a different room. I told him all that nonsence in the last ten mins could easily have been avoided. If he didn't lie to me and say there were no rooms. The room ended up being really quiet, however it was like an oven and I could not get it cool. I was knackered so fell asleep anyway. That mattress will need a few days in the sun to dry out the amount I sweated in it. I went down to breakfast in the morning it looked like an ok spread but I was still not in the mood. The bill was already fixed by my company so I didn't even complain to the staff in the morning. I will be telling my company not to use this place again.

I am myself a hotel manager but since I am accompanying my sister for a cosmetic treatment, I had no say on on the hotel choice Regardless though the hotel I represent as a manager is neither perfect, here are a few observations I am currently in room 1201 and still got another 8 nights to go, so my views may change and they will be duly revised Starting from the bad… Reception - the most unfriendly and unhelpful department I ve encountered so far. This is the department who should lead by example in these terms yet while every department I ve encounter have been great (housekeeping, food and be beverage, spa) … this department lacks the welcoming factor. Sad as reception often leaves the first and last impression. Breakfast - basic but good quality. Can’t ask for more Spa - I still have to try this but the attendant who showed me around was helpful and patient. Thanks to his approach I will definitely give this place a try Room is big, comfortable and well equipped… cleanliness upon checkin not as great … yellow stained silicon around shower, hairs of previous occupants, dusty accessories. The industry is suffering and while I Am mentioning this, I am ready to close an eye Highlight of hotel - by far - the rooftop restaurant … the lamb shank was to die for and definitely best lamb ever… service is 10 out of 10 and 2 people stand out by far … girl with glasses working on Tuesday 11th evening shift … and the ever so amazing and charming Mohammat… impressed and equally jealous of their customer approach. These are people I would hire in a blink of an eye, Mohammat, especially I look forward to spending the next 9 nights here. Turkey is amazing but the Turks are even greater Room 1201

So - this place is now difficult to find! When it was Rhiss there was a big frontage on Ataturk Cd with prominent signage - that is now gone, replaced with the Mahall Cafe. No problem, they have made better use of the space available to them, but there is no Macity signage - it was just luck that on the third pass I saw the red frontage of the hotel above and guessed - then our taxi driver worked it out on the map and we were good, coming around the back to the new, rather understated entrance. I booked the hotel based on it being a sister property to the Rhiss in Bostanci which we had stayed in many times over the years but at some point after booking the name on my email confirmations changed and the reception staff confirmed that the hotels are no longer related. First impressions were not particularly positive - the corridors had energy efficient lights activated by sensors, but even when active they were dull. The room was similarly dull with a broken lamp and no central light. It smelled musty and the wallpaper was ripped. The bathroom had numerous holes where previous fixtures had been replaced and holes left in the tiles. The hairdryer didn’t work and actually looked as if the wires might be bare. There was plenty of mould around the bath and while a new, well maintained jacuzzi might be a draw - a 10 year old one in a mouldy bath does not have any appeal! From what I could see, this was a fairly well appointed hotel about 10 years ago, which has not been renewed and it desperately needs to be. Best of all, the rooms electricity kept tripping off. When the receptionist came to us he suggested that trying to charge a laptop and a phone at the same time was the problem? So we unplugged the laptop, he knocked the fuse box and it worked again. A minute after he left it tripped again - we unplugged the phone and knocked the fuse box ourselves and it came back on. It went again about 5 more times in the night and we knocked the fuses and had to charge from battery packs. Breakfast was ok - I love a Turkish breakfast and you do usually get far too much to manage - not the case here - a single plate each, with some shared bread and a small selection of jams etc. The cheeses were dry as if they had been cut much earlier and the portions tiny, the sucuc seemed deep fried and the wrinkly shelled eggs were oddly unappetising - there was even a portion of butter smaller than a dice, supposed to be shared between the two of us, although we had a bread basket with potentially 4 slices each. So why am i not giving this place a one star rating and recommending that nobody stays there? The location suited - sure, there are other hotels in the Maltepe area, but this was much more affordable. Despite our reluctance to step into the bath, when we braved it, the shower pressure was great. We also slept very well - the beds were very comfortable and ultimately that’s what a hotel room is all about… Update - we “bookended” our trip with one
