Izmir Palas Hotel

Everything was so great. It is in the best part of the city with an amazing sea view.

Very very disappointing experience… Such a shame to let it run down like this, with that location and amazing view of the bay and the history behind it, its just such a shame.. Reading the other reviews proved to us the owners don’t care about the service they give anymore .. The room we stayed in was smelling damp and had to sleep with a balcony door open, Electric plugs were hanging off the wall, mirror in the bathroom came off its hinge, looked so old and uncared for wherever you looked or touched. There was not even a complementary bottle of water in the room for the price they are charging, On the bed there is only one pillow for each person, not even sure if they were clean.. Even if they had a sign in the room saying it is open every day their SeaBar on the roof top was not in use as usual which has an amazing potential to be the best in the city, And the receptionist looked down with shame and had no answers other then that they would have changed our room but quite sure the other option would be very similar anyway so no point in changing really .. So all in all it was not a good stay whatsoever.. VERY SURE WILL NEVER BE GOING BACK TO THIS HOTEL…

Even though the city of Izmir gave a great impression, unfortunately this hotel ruined the full experience! The personnel was not helpful at all regarding trips, transportation or opening hours and advised us to use google, where everything is not updated online during covid. The hotel room looked ok, but the bathroom was dirty and was spread with remains of some sort of bugs. We made the hotel aware and their solution was to give us another room, exactly 2 floors below the one we had. Fair enough. We went to check it out and fould a dead cockroach on the floor so our only option was to return to our first room. The bed sheets and duvet cover was also dirty and had black stains. We thought maybe it was permanent marks and we removed the sign saying "please dont change my sheets" in hopes of it being changed as a solution. The following day we went on a full day trip, and when we returned we found the exact stains on the bed. We called reception to ask if they changed the sheets daily to which they replied "yes, ofcourse" so we went down to show them the dirty stains. The guy at the reception was very rude and yelled "what can I do about it". No apology, no explanation, no correction that the sheets were not changed daily! He only informed us that we could speak with the manager in the morning and at least they brought us a new duvet cover. Disgusting hotel! Service is non exsistent!

The previous reviews were quite alarming, yet we went ahead with our two night stay just to check it out for ourselves. It was a pleasant stay without any inconveniences. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and had all the amenities that we expected. The view was breathtaking, the sunsets from the room were priceless. Breakfast was very good as well. We were pleased we chose to stay here. A proper comforter on the bed would have elevated the room a notch above. No other shortcomings. No bugs, no smells.
