An unforgettable trip to Izu, where I booked a very traditional Japanese inn, soaked in an open-air hot spring with a view of the sea, and had a sumptuous dinner prepared by the inn.

The sea is in front of you, so the location is excellent. The sound of the waves was so nice and relaxing. The sunset was beautiful too. The room was spacious, open and comfortable. A typical Japanese hotel, simple and clean. The owner is a pianist and is run by a family of three. The service is attentive and attentive, and everyone is very polite. The large public bath has an open-air bath, and although it was midsummer, the nice breeze was blowing and it felt good. It's a pity that the air conditioning was not working outside the room (corridor, etc.) and it was uncomfortably hot. The appearance is old, but the room was new and clean. I have been coming to Doi every year with my family for about 20 years, and this was my first time at Meijikan, but it was a good ryokan to compare. If there is a pool, maybe there will be more guests with small children.

Stayed in a special Japanese-Western style room on the 6th floor. The room was very large... almost too large. The room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. Although it was a cheap plan, I was satisfied with the dinner, which included sake-steamed abalone and lots of seafood. Apart from the renovated guest rooms on the 6th and 7th floors, the rooms were old, and the view from the public bath was disappointing, perhaps because the exterior walls were under construction. The view of the sunset and sunrise is the best. I was able to relax.

The sea is right in front of you, perfect for swimming. Facing the ocean from the beach, it's the farthest left, farthest from the flower clock and the bathers' parking lot, so it's probably the least crowded area. (Far from the beach house and shops) Also, there is a 7-Eleven and a drug store right next door, so it's convenient for shopping. The hot spring was spacious, and even in the middle of summer, the breeze was nice in the open-air bath. The room is clean and the view is great. The food is plentiful. The golden sea bream was stylishly grilled, but it was better boiled normally (it was a special order dish). In the morning, the buffet was back and there was a lot of delicious food. It was just before Obon, so the price was high (although it was the market price), and the washroom was old and the renovated clean toilet was nice, but the water for hand washing was difficult to get out, minus 1 star. It can't be helped since it's midsummer, but the hallways outside the room are extremely hot. Is the air conditioning not working or is it not installed due to cost? There seem to be times when it's cheaper if you don't care about swimming in the sea. I would like to use it next time when I come to Toi.

Of course, there are parts that have deteriorated over time, but it is a comfortable space where you can see that it has been thoroughly cleaned. It is also wonderful that the outside light is fully taken into the bath. The water is clear and the temperature is just right, not too hot and not too lukewarm. I used it in a chartered state in the morning, but this is also a luxurious time.・There are two types of private open-air baths, “Urara-no-Yu” and “Nukumi-no-Yu”. It costs 2,200 yen for 45 minutes, but I think you should try it once. The facilities are even nicer. There is also an indoor bath in a space made of wood, and you can spend an elegant time while looking at the sea in the outdoor open-air bath. Of course, there is also a washroom. Unlike the public bath, this bath is a little hot because the water is flowing directly from the bath. You can add as much water as you like and enjoy it either slightly hot or thoroughly lukewarm. However, since it is a dish for children of a certain age, it may be better to bring something for softer dishes or children with strong preferences.
