Parador de Jaen

Lovely hotel with a great location-decor was amazing and staff helpful but always seemed busy as if they had too much to do. Breakfast was wonderful-well presented and a lot of food choices. Dinner was a bit disappointing in terms of choice and price-especially as we had to wait a long time to be served although the staff were lovely and were rushing around-they just needed more staff. One of our party left without a dessert as he was fed up of waiting to be served. Lovely, but not stress free!

We stayed here for one night to visit Jaen town and also Castillo de Santa Catalina. The parador is situated - as you'd expect - on a hilltop overlooking the town and it certainly wasn't somewhere we'd choose to walk to! There is parking just outside and the castle itself is only a minutes walk away. Check in at the Parador was both efficient and engaging and our rooms were both fabulously spacious room with a lovely balcony looking over the hills. There was a good sized desk to work at, a lovely bathroom, decent wifi and no intrusive noise. The hotel itself had period public areas and obviously amazing views. Breakfast was superb with an amazing selection of food and nicely spaced tables. There were several cooked to order options as well. My only disappoin**ent was the dinner. The main element (we had sea bass, cod and pork between us) was beautifully presented and a good sized portion but the accompanying food were very sp**** and the vegetables almost non existent and there were no menu options to order side dishes to go with the main course. The restaurant was also understaffed on the evening that we ate there and I actually left before dessert as I was fed up with waiting. The staff were all wonderful, there just needed to be more of them. A fabulous base for what we wanted though and a wonderful stay.

Beautiful building.Lovely renovated Castle. Public rooms delightful. Bedroom superb clean large well appointed. Restaurant lovely.Food first class. We stopped nights 23rd and 24th April. Restaurant staff excellent a special remark for Daniel he was first class. The night 23rd in the restaurant had only one poor performance.The lady waitress that was on that evening was sullen,rude and if she acts in this manner should find a job away from working with people. We sat waiting for some bread she served people both sides of us.Gave us a miserable look.When eventually she seemed to serve us did not say a word.Just grunted pointed to the choice bread and slapped it on the plate. However Daniel more than made up for this ladies attitude.
