Saks Urban Design Hotel Kaiserslautern Reviews

The location is good for anyone who wants to visit the central city of the town. The hotel argues that the rooms have a special design but I found the design rather depressing. The staff are friendly but the organisation of the hotel does not hold the promises. Many things suffer from the lack of attention to the details, The most positive aspect was the presence of a nice coffee maker in the rooms.

My family had an excellent stay here for 2 nights Nov 2024. Great location and walkable to the city center and the train station. Loved that there was a small grocery store across the plaza. The hotel breakfast was amazing and I looked forward to it every morning. The room was clean and felt very modern (all except for the shag carpet). The staff was very friendly and helpful (and happy to accommodate my large extended family of 14 people). The only negative was it was hard to sleep with all the noise from the street. The hotel is located on a busy part of the town, but that wouldn’t prevent me from staying here again. We had a lovely stay.

Nice hotel situated in a 15 minute walk to the Kaiserslautern mall. Also close to many shops in the area. The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. There is a sauna on the upper floor and a cozy bar downstairs. Downstairs beside the bar area there is a restaurant. There are several pubs/bars in east walking distance on the other side of the hotel (the side facing the street opposite the the square).

Good hotel, but needs attention. We have stayed here three separate times over the past several years. While it is considered the best hotel in Kaiserslautern, it is still lacking. The service is great with a friendly and accommodating staff. The hotel is around 14 years old and needs attention, such as lights and carpets need to be replaced. There are no mini fridges in the rooms, which makes traveling with medicine which needs to be refrigerated difficult. A four star hotel should have this. There are also no cabinets or drawers to store folded clothes in some of the rooms. We kept our folded clothes in the bathtub. Our biggest complaint would be the television. There are maybe 12 working channels with just one English speaking channel and no English subtitles option. No access to internet TV like Netflix or YouTube. Again, a 4 star hotel should have these amenities.

We were in area for the Holiday visiting son who's stationed at Ramstein. Rooms were nice and overlook the town square. Very close to Christmas market and easy walk to many restaurants, shopping district, and bars. Hotel bar and restaurant were very nice - great service. English speaking front desk staff. Onsite parking. Will definitely return.

Good location, comfortable bed. Good restaurant. However, there can be queues at reception for check-in and check-out due to less staff. Better to bring your own Iron as they dont have enough to give in each room. Rooms are not quiet. You can hear sound of door and water from next room.

The hotel is located in a prime location in the city center. The room is quiet and has a special modern design. The reception people were friendly. The surprise was the breakfast buffet it is unbelievable and really, really delicious. The prise was expensive I find.

Have been staying here since it opened. At that time best option in town. Good location and generally solid. Only problem is that it is in desperate need of a refresh. Carpet and paint in bad shape. Stuff doesn't work or is broken. Food in restaurant was good. Breakfast food was good but staff uneven. The male host was terrific the female unpleasant.

The experience was strained, but cordial. Front desk personnel are genuinely professional. Strongest recommendation is for the removal of existing carpet with a move towards engineered wood. This will alleviate the odiferous fragrance of stagnant water. Address the bird feces on room(roof ledges with sting to prevent accumulation and unwanted feathered visitors and this review encroaches on 5 star.

This is a nice hotel in the downtown area. It offered super easy parking and access to restaurants. The room was fine. The whole hotel is a little dark but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was ok - there were sufficient choices.

Awesome location but horrible hotel. AC is a joke and will never cool the room at all. The WI-FI will kick you out every couple of minutes. We had a broken sink that was never fixed the whole time in was here. We had a Suite and it wasn't worth it at all. The only positive thing is the location and staff who was nice. Here's a note for the manager maybe they should read the reviews from the customers and actually fix the issue.

For me, the SAKS is the top address in Kaiserlautern. Beautiful rooms, very good breakfast and very friendly, highly professional staff. The spa area is a highlight of the hotel. The location couldn't be better - right in the pedestrian area, surrounded by various restaurants, bars and pubs, ... In summary: The SAKS can be recommended without reservation and I will be coming back in the future.

Breakfast plates were empty, the only elevator broke down several times, toilet cleaning was very sloppy. Staff tried very hard. The elevator can only be used by 3 people. Old and very annoying as the only elevator for all guests and cleaning staff on 5 floors. New technology would be very useful

Exclusive hotel that is so exclusive that you can't even book it. The first obstacle I had to overcome was the online booking, which rejected my credit card for days. After I then called MasterCard, I found out that it was the Urban Design Hotel's booking system. It's good that there is a booking hotline, but I found out that the rate had now risen from €149 to €169. Well, bad luck, at least the hotline worked... except that you don't get a booking confirmation, you have to request this in a separate call... The hotel itself is very modern, but the rooms need to be updated. The coffee machine in our room was broken. When I checked out, I suddenly had to pay an extra charge of €60, good thing I had requested my reservation confirmation again when I booked by phone. The hotel may be modern, but the processes don't work, for me personally the customer experience starts with the booking and ends with the check-out. Maybe think about it. But the staff were very friendly.
