The hut I stayed in was quite old. It sat on stilts above swamp water. You could see light though the walls, floor and where the ceiling attached. The dogs started barking about the time the sun came up. Of course feral dogs lived there. Then the hammering and metal saw sounds started around 8:30am, they were repairing the huts. Very loud because you could hear everything outside clearly. This town is one of the hottest places in Thailand so it was up to 42 degrees everyday. It's a cool set up being on the river and metal walkways leading there and to the huts. I am very happy to be in a normal hotel now.

Overall it's good, the alarm clock is quiet, the house is right on the river beach and it feels close to nature

Accommodation is a bungalow type. The area along the River Kwai is separated. Above the reception area are adjacent shophouses. The rooms have the amenities of a bungalow. Toiletries are only provided with a small bar of soap. If you are charged extra money to stay in the room you reserved, don't forget to ask for the receipt.

The guest house has a range of rooms from more modern concrete structures to wooden cottages set on wooden piers in a quiet tributary of the River Kwai. We were upgraded to a riverfront cottage, of which there are about four. The others are set slightly back but still have a river view. It’s a budget guest house, (we paid around £20 per night and stayed 3 nights) so don’t expect any frills. Things are a bit worn but it was clean enough and the bed was the comfiest I’ve had in Asia. We used our own mosquito net but even after a lot of recent rain we had no problem with insects. One slightly disconcerting thing was that the shower, and I believe though not certain, that the toilet flushes straight into the river! Despite that there is plenty of wildlife around, lots of birds and one morning we saw a 4 foot monitor lizard swim across the river. It’s very central- 5 mins walk to bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc. in spite of that and the fact that it was a holiday weekend it seemed quiet with lots of spare rooms and we slept very well. We enjoyed our time here and would come again.

We stayed here for 9 nights in a riverside cabin and were delighted with our choice. This is a budget guest house and at a very budget price - however it had what we needed. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom had a properly flushing toilet and warm water shower, we also had a nice balcony - literally on the riverfront as the cabins are up on stilts…. Thankfully as a huge monitor lizard swam by one day! Mrs Moon, the proprietor was extremely friendly and accommodating which added to our enjoyment. The bridge over the River Kwai is about a half hour walk, or quicker on available scooter taxi rides. There are lots of eateries nearby (I will review our favourite Zab Zab) and there is a launderette and pharmacy literally the first two premises at the entrance. For someone wanting a welcoming and budget place to stay, we can’t recommend this enough.
