Hanthana Boutique Villa by Amaya

We had the most amazing one night stay at this lovely villa with our adult children. It is in a lovely setting with great view of the hills around Kandy and surrounded by beautiful gardens. The 3 bed bungalow has a large lounge, dining area and kitchen. The pool area is excellent. We were the only guests - max is 16 staying in the other 2 villas. You can also use the facilities at the Amaya Hills hotel, just up the hill. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - Chef Ashan and Suranga the Butler who really looked after us. We had a delicious authentic Sri Lankan meal prepared for us and served in our villa, with first class service. Experience was a private dining vibe. We chatted to the chef about the ingredients and how he prepared the food. It was the best food we have had on our trip so far!! We were very sorry we could only stay one night.

Exceptionally helpful,polite and kind staff made our stay at this hotel very enjoyable. They organized for our meals to be brought from the main hotel,above us on the hillside. With great care and attention to detail they served us by the small boutique pool.

A wonderful discovery – luxury, tranquility, and bliss on a human scale, with a perfect welcome! We truly appreciated the peaceful atmosphere of these villas perched on the heights of the city. They are spacious, tastefully decorated, and offer a lovely view of the surrounding nature. The villas are beautiful, well-equipped, impeccably clean, and have everything you need. I would like to point out that we were not staying at the hotel of the same name, which is just a few minutes away but much larger. An extra and unforgettable touch comes from the professionalism, kindness, and warm hospitality of the staff. Everything is done to make you feel at home… but even better! To top off this wonderful experience, we had the best dining experience of our entire trip! The chef—whose talent I must highlight—comes to cook exclusively for the villas. His cuisine is truly worthy of a fine French gastronomic restaurant. Fresh ingredients, creativity, stunning presentation—it is an absolute delight! Lastly, I would like to emphasize the kindness and attentiveness of Prasanna and the chef, with whom we had the pleasure of exchanging a few words. Their dedication to perfection and hospitality made our stay in Hanthana truly unforgettable. We highly recommend these villas without hesitation and would return in a heartbeat!

We had a nice cozy stay here. Suranga who provided the service for us gave a very good service. We stayed at the Junior suite room. Room was spacious but the bathroom was very small. Could have been better if more space was allocated for the bathroom. The garden is well maintained and is beutiful with the flowers. Staff is very friendly and is ready to serve as needed. Lunch we requested to have at the hanthana villa itself and they agreed to have it pool side. It was a very nice experience and the food was delicious. Overall we had a nice stay here. One recommendation, We were asked to have dinner and breakfast at Amaya hills buffet. It was nice to give that option for the guests but some guests prefer to have a private romantic simple dinner/breakfast which is the main reason they choose the boutique collection instead of the hotel. So it is better if you can ask from the guests and let them decide which way they prefer either to go for the buffet or to have ala carte option at the resort itself. Getting into a van ( not a luxury one) and going to the amaya hills also changes the mood of the guests even though it is a short distance. Also to talk a bit about the amaya hills buffet and the staff, it is not what we expected. Buffet was mainly indian focussed and no much of a selection. It is also the fault of the guests to come at the last moment but during breakfast past 10 am the buffet was closed ( even the dessert section without informing the guests still having their meals at the restaurant) and around 10.30 they switched off the ACs and Fans while we were still eating. The time we spent at Amaya Hills we didn’t like due to the attitude of some staff. Overall we had a nice stay at Hanthana Boutique Villa by Amaya
