We enjoyed a wonderful long weekend at this fabulous hotel situated in a beautiful and historic building. Our room was lovely and comfortable and very much evoked the period of the building. The location was great - a short walk to the centre of Eeklo in one direction and a short walk to the nature haven of Het Leen in the other. The breakfast was delicious, with a large assortment of homemade items. And to top it all off, our hosts were of the most hospitable, smiling and helpful kind and very passionate about their work. They were also very knowledgeable about all the walks and bike rides in the area and when we had a problem with the bike hire just up the road at the station, they didn't hesitate to find an immediate solution for us. A real find and highly recommended. Thank you so much!

Home from 15h and departure for 11h. Very nice. Clean, light and elegant and elegant room. The hostel is warm. Prestation with good quality/price ratio. Breakfast is a good breakfast in a beautiful room.

Outstanding welcome from the lady at the reception who spoke Spanish to us. Friendly and helpful. How not to feel welcomed there. The location of the hotel is prime, close enough to go back and take a break. The bedroom was, modern, very clean, floors are wood which I prefer than carpet. The barroom seems newly modernized, good shower that doesn’t leak outside, the room has good lighting, beds were clean and comfortable. The windows could be open to get the air flowing as there is no air condition, not that we needed AC it in October but good to keep that in mind. We did need fresh air but comes with the cost of hearing trash picking busses and delivery trucks from very early on. My son and I are not light sleepers and can quickly fall asleep but I can totally see that if my partner would have joined us he would have struggle with the noise. We didn’t try the hotel breakfast but had brunch in Et Alers which is very closed and the food there didn’t disappoint not the ambiance. Worth trying those buckwheet pancakes Belgian style. .

The location is fantastic, right on the water and you can walk out the door to explore Ghent. The hotel itself is fine, not the most modern/ nicest Marriott I have ever stayed at and certainly not the worst. Parts definitely seem dated. There is a parking garage under the hotel- and you can park there for a nightly fee. The service was not good. When I checked in there was absolutely no recognition of my Ambassador Elite status and no benefits of that status were explained to me. I asked about a suite upgrade, and the girl that was checking me in was fine but another girl (long straight dark brown hair) yelled over from the other side of the counter in a very rude way saying she took care of it already (cutting off the other associate). Our room was not a suite- so she didn't take care of it. Then I asked about a late check out and she yelled over again saying she put it in the system. When I asked if our keys would continue to work she looked at me like I was an ***** and said she took care of it. Which she didn't- we had to get our cards re-keyed the next morning, and they had no note in the system that we previously asked for a late checkout. It felt completely unprofessional- if the other associate wanted to answer my questions or manage my check in process, she could have easily done it by walking over and having a professional and pleasant conversation with me not by yelling over and cutting off the person who was helping me. It felt like she was annoyed that I was asking about the perks that come with the my Marriott status, not welcoming of a new guest to the hotel. Neither the girl who claimed to have taken care of everything, or the girl checking us in explained anything about perks, and I felt so frustrated (about the rude interaction) when they handed me my keys that I didn't even ask. I walked up to the desk after and explained the situation to a male associate standing there who could not have been more kind, apologetic and welcoming. There is no lounge, so he gave us two drink coupons, and said a buffet breakfast at the restaurant was included instead. They also mentioned that the mini fridge was included, but it only had like 3 small bottles total in it (one water, one soda and one beer) so it was not a very big perk. Overall, Ghent was beautiful and the hotel is in a great location. I would stay here again with a very low bar set for service from the front desk.

My recent four-day stay at the hotel in Gent, Belgium, housed in a charming 19th-century former monastery, was unfortunately marred by several significant issues. Upon arrival, the historic charm of the building was evident and quite captivating. However, the allure quickly dissipated as the stay progressed. Firstly, a standard room lacked en-suite toilets and shower compartments. While this detail is mentioned on the booking site, it is buried in the fine print, a detail easily missed by prospective guests. This is not an amenity gap one would expect from an establishment that charges €135 per night for a standard single-occupation room. Moreover, the hotel failed to provide hot water for two consecutive nights, despite repeated complaints. This fundamental necessity is non-negotiable for any guest, and the hotel’s inability to address the issue promptly was highly disappointing. The lighting situation in several rooms was another major letdown. There were no main lights, leaving rooms dimly lit. When reported, the receptionist unhelpfully and incorrectly stated that the lamps were merely for decoration. This lack of adequate lighting significantly impacted the comfort and usability of the rooms. Adding to the discomfort were the creaking floorboards in the corridors, which disturbed even not-so-light sleepers at midnight. The noise level was unacceptable and further disrupted what was supposed to be a restful stay. While the hotel's historic setting is undeniably beautiful, the experience was marred by these significant issues. For an established hotel, the expectations are high, and basic amenities like hot water, proper lighting, and sound insulation should be a given. Overall, my stay was disappointing, and these issues reflect poorly on the hotel's standards. Future guests should be aware of these potential inconveniences, especially given that some are not adequately disclosed upfront.

We have just spent two nights at this hotel and the location is ideal for walking or cycling into the centre of Ghent. The rooms are compact but functional for a short stay, we had the two single beds (rather than a double bed) as you get more space. Breakfast is good with a reasonable choice. Car parking is underground so your car will be safe although it is 14 euros per night. We hired bikes for 10 euros each and cycled all over Ghent, just be careful of the trams and tram lines. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. we would happily stay here again if we visit Ghent again in the future.

Vriendelijke ontvangst. De ligging is heel goed. Kamer voor de prijs die wij betaald hebben nog net oké. (63 euro voor 2) De kamer had een onfrisse geur door de afloop. (Putjesgeur) Geen minibar zoals beschreven. WIFI werkte niet. Ontbijt van 8 tot 10 waarbij om 9 uur spek en eieren en pistolets op waren. Ontbijtruimte was niet proper. Koffiemachine, microgolfoven, tafellaken waar het eten op stond waren vies. Overal stof en vuiligheid. Veel dingen stuk....kasten die uit elkaar hangen, gaten in de muur,bespoten die los staan, sigarettenpeuken die rondslingeren, .... Deur waar alles van was en producten opgeborgen stond stond open, wat was dat? Gewoonweg onverzorgd. Electriciteit uitgevallen rond middernacht. Zijn ze komen oplossen na gebeld te hebben. Een uur later zit de rest van het hotel zonder stroom. Een mooi gebouw maar er zit geen ziel in. Laat je niet verblinden door de foto's. Dit hotel is dringend toe aan renovatie en een grote schoonmaakbeurt.

quite far from the train station but close to attractions. a rather old hotel. the door locks are the round shaped ones. the hot water supply of the shower was not quite steady. the room is quite small for europe i think. the plus side is they gave us the room well before the official check in time. we arrived at around 10:30 and they gave us the room right away. there is a free breakfast buffet as well (even my room choice is the most basic one).

Stayed 7 nights best hotel in Belgium. Very friendly and helpful Peter took very good care of us. If you're going to Belgium stay here. They made reservations for my wife and I almost every night. Big breakfast, good beds,clean rooms
