Hotel Oceanis

Probably the best 2 star rated hotel we’ve ever stayed in! Fantastic buffet breakfast with lots of healthy options. Friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble and all requests answered. They even provided a free minibus shuttle service.

What a lovely holiday I had at the Oceanis. The hotel is situated on a mountain and it has the most spectacular views! I felt incredibly relaxed from the start. My room had breathtaking views! Alexander and his family are hard working, kind people. Set on a hill, the walk up to it is not for the faint hearted, but I did it twice! The nature and aromas from the trees and foliage were worth the walk. Alexander provided a free shuttle to and from the harbour and restaurants ect and this was greatly received after a big meal and few cocktails! The room was spotless and bed made, towels changed daily. I made good use of the mini bar (reasonably priced if you didn’t fancy a walk down to the shop) I loved being poolside and watching the ferries come in. I’m going to miss my daily Mythos at the bar served by the lovely Aurora. Breakfast was great. Cheese, cereals, coffee, fruit all eaten whilst watching the amazing views. Peter took me to and from the hotel for a good rate and he was very nice. This hotel was perfect for me, almost out of season so quiet and laid back. I can’t wait to return.

Lovely hosts, lovely hotel and rooms, comfy bed and soft pillows, good breakfast, good choice of food, we have been many times in the last 8 or 9 years, Peter, Maria, Alex, the rest of their family and staff, work hard to make your holiday enjoyable, absolutely love it there every time we go,

We arrived at Oceanis Hotel late morning, and on parking our hire car, were greeted with glimpses of blue sea between the trees and beautiful Bougainvillea. We were shown to our room by Alexander, who was friendly and explained everything well, and when we were shown our balcony, that glimpse of blue sea turned into a wonderful view of Poros Harbour and Town, surrounded by green mountains, and blue sea.....we felt immediately relaxed. We had hired a car from Kefalonia Airport prior to the holiday, as we wanted to have the flexibility of getting ourselves to and from the airport, and around the island for the 12 days we were there, without having to rely on anyone else, however, we were aware of the service offered by the Hotel, which took guests to and from Poros Centre when required, and also the car hire that was offered by the Hotel. The reason the view is so beautiful, is because of where the Hotel is situated, on the side of a mountain, meaning that there is a very steep hill or numerous steps to climb to access the town and nearby beaches, however, unless you are unable to walk far, in which case this wouldn't be the Hotel for you, then don't let the steepness put you off, as due to the service provided by the Hotel, getting up and down is made easy by the service they provide. The Hotel itself is worthy of more than the 2 stars it is listed as......the rooms are very clean, with towels changed daily. The shower offered lots of hot water, and the air conditioning was extremely effective. Our room had a small balcony, with an amazing view of the town below, a table and 2 chairs are provided, and offer a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by. I have seen comments about the furniture being old, and yes.....it is a bit dated, but that has no bearing on the service provided, as a wardrobe allows you to hang clothes in it, and a chair gives you somewhere to sit regardless of whether they are old or new. What is important is that you are made to feel welcome, and get to stay somewhere extremely beautiful. Due to the situation of the Hotel, it is on various levels and the pool area has a view over the harbour below. We didn't use the pool during our stay, but on the couple of occasions we went down to it, it looked clean and well looked after. Breakfast was served daily between 8am-10am, and offered a varied selection. There was plenty of bread to toast, with butter, jams and marmalade. Bread topped with feta and tomatoes. Cold meats, cheese and olives. Omelette cooked fresh on request. Greek yoghurt, honey and fresh fruit. A selection of cereal, juice, tea and coffee. There is certainly something for everyone, and plenty of it. Unfortunately, there are quite a few wasps around at Breakfast time, so it is better to eat inside where they don't bother you.......but this is the only time of day they cause an issue. They obviously appreciate a good Breakfast too. There is a large shelf in the Breakfast room where there are various books

It is a home away from home. Beautiful little hotel on the hill run by Alexander and his family. 2 star should not mislead you. Spotless clean rooms, daily changed towels. Breakfast with variety of choices, all fresh. Swimming pool is cleaned daily by little robot machine. Alexander and his parents looked after us very well. Thank you so much!! We used their shuttle service few times then hired a car from the hotel to wander the island. We will miss our daily routine of watching the ferry to dock and the scenery of the the little gem called Poros! It was our first visit but definitely not the last!! This family run hotel is excellent. Rooms are cleaned to a high standard, views from our balcony are amazing and the family ensure that everything is perfect. We really appreciated the shuttle service from the hotel to the harbour and to the local tavernas and we frequently used the pick up service. The breakfast buffet was the best we have ever experienced in Greece. Alexander arranged boat trips and taxi tours for us and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much for an excellent relaxing holiday. We will be back!

A little gem of a hotel set up on the hillside in Poros, loved my stay there - pretty authentic charm, amazing views and a good breakfast choice - the hosts are genuinely lovely people and make you very welcome - will definitely stay again on next visit to Kefalonia

What a gem, we can't be more complimentary about this hotel. The family who own it, work here, and they are so helpful, above and beyond. The hotel is spotlessly clean, breakfast has a lot of variety and rooms are basic but comfortable. Perfect!

Lovely, quiet hotel with spectacular sea views. Spotlessly clean and made very welcome by the owners. The walk down to the harbour is easy, the walk back up is more taxing but there is a mini bus which will pick you up. The pool bar does outstanding food, Gyros pitta is highly recommended and reasonably priced. The pool is clean and sunbeds always available. Breakfast is fresh with a good selection. Poros itself is so peaceful and quiet, so if you want peace and relaxation with absolutely no noise or traffic, then this is the place to come. The excitement and 'busy' times is when the mainland ferry docks a couple of times a day. If you want to see the island then you definitely need a car
