Cahernane House Hotel

Amazing hotel! Giant rooms with classic furniture. Amazing free breakfast. We also had dinner twice in the cellar bar -- amazing fish and chips. Best place we stayed in over two weeks in Ireland, Scotland, England. We'll be back!

Booked Cahernane House Hotel with a Blue Book Voucher we received as a gift. I was very impressed with their statement that they 'love Ireland's Blue Book vouchers, so much so that when you book your luxury escape to Cahernane House Hotel using an Ireland's Blue Book voucher, we will treat you to tea and scones on arrival and a late check-out (1pm) on your departure day, with our compliments'. The exclusive offer also included a tour of the house, etc. I was really looking forward to this part. However, none of these were mentioned to us on arrival or anytime during our short stay, which is a pity. Our room was small but opened onto a beautiful patio area with views of the mountains. Unfortunately, toiletries partly used by the previous occupiers of the room were not removed. New containers were placed next to the sink for us, but the used soap and containers were left in the shower area, I know mistakes happen all the time but I'd expect better in a 4 star hotel. Otherwise, the hotel is a lovely old house with lots of antique features and cosy quiet areas to sit and relax. Staff were very nice and always courteous. We were on a b&b basis, and only had breakfast which was made to order and served in a beautiful dining room.

Stayed for two nights. Ate lunch & dinner in the bar. Lunch was ok but dinner was gorgeous. room was very comfortable. Beautiful surrounding, close to the town. The staff members that stood out was the lovely Portuguese Rosa and Cara. Rosa was an excellent server. She made us feel very welcome and an outgoing person, she’s a little diamond.

A beautiful place to relax for a few days. The staff were simply superb throughout the hotel. The quality of the food was excellent. The hotel has a great old world feeling but with a modern twist. Our bedroom was decorated in a beautifully opulent style which ensured a great nights sleep. Lots of places around the hotel too to curl with a book if that is your preference.

A grand family home away from the tourist crowds featuring charm and character and a magnificent setting. The food at the restaurant is exceptional and it deserves recognition. The Cahernane House hotel is a truly magical hotel in the heart of Killarney National Park, with a serene atmosphere and friendly staff. I loved the decor of my room with cute bird-themed curtains and lovely hardwood floors. There are lots of great nooks and crannies to sit with a good book and a glass of wine! The town is a mere 20 minute walk, whilst Muckross House and Gardens is a nice 45 minute walk in the other direction. My meal in the Cellar Bar was excellent, and breakfast is very good. I'm sure that this hotel would be positively idyllic in good weather.

We had a special birthday to celebrate, so we wanted a special experience. Cahernane House Hotel provided that 100%. Killarney has many great hotels, but here you feel like you are on a visit to a manor home and are treated like a family guest, the house being originally a home. The rooms have been tastefully renovated, respecting the history of the place and restoring it to its former glory. But the staff in particular make this place special. They understand non-intrusive hospitality, being aware of your needs but staying discreetly ready to assist only as needed. The food here is first class, making use of many of the local ingredients and letting them speak for themselves. The staff are also eager to assist where necessary. When one wine was not on the list, I was immediately presented with a similar option. The barmen are also experts and make time to talk to their clients. The General Manager was also very visible and approachable, checking that all was well. We were there for two nights and while this area has so much to see, you could tell that on a bad day, you would happily pull a chair up to the open fire, with a book and a nice cup of tea or a local whiskey! Atriums at the front and back provide bright and cosy sun traps, depending on the time of day and the view at the rear of the local mountains was stunning. Do I recommend it - 100%.

This was a special New Year treat for our wedding anniversary which was the day before. This is pure luxury with gourmet food which was perfect for a special occasion. There was a 7 course tasting menu for New Year's Eve and every course was incredible. Would we think of staying there again? Probably! Not cheap but you get what you pay for. What you get in Cahernane House is special.
