From the minute we arrived and greeted by our host Greta until we left with a warm cheerio, this was a great night's stay in what is a very welcoming and well appointed bed and breakfast This was an excellent facility with well appointed room which was exceptionally clean and warm. Good to see that there was bottled water in the room which helped if we wanted to make tea/coffee. Very comfortable bed and the shower was brilliant with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was delicious, all cooked fresh and the home made scones were an added bonus. Algret House is no more than a gentle 10 minute stroll into the centre of Killarney but it is far enough from the centre to guarantee no excessive road noise from traffic. Without doubt if we are ever back in Killarney, we will certainly be looking at staying in the Algret Bed and Breakfast again. A gem of a place at a very reasonable price.

My favorite accomodations in Ireland. Greta was such a great host! She was attentive, helpful and super nice! Her Irish breakfast was delicious, my favorite one while in Ireland. Not to mention she had fresh scones every morning! The room was cosy and warm. I highly recommend!!

We stayed at Algret House in February for a night, and it was a wonderful experience. We drove the Ring of Kerry that day and were pleased that we had until 7pm to check in. Upon our arrival, Greta greeted us and she was a delightful, kind person. She explained everything we needed to know about the house and the things to do in Killarney. Our room was perfect with a view of the church spires in town, it was so comfortable after our long day. I the morning, the breakfast was delicious. We had the Irish breakfast (cooked by Mr. Doyle) as well as the assortment of cold options that were laid out buffet style. We were so happy to have a lovely conversation with Greta about her upbringing and the changes that have come to Killarney over the years. The entire experience was such a delight that we hope to return again. We can’t recommend Algret House enough! It added so much to our already amazing trip to Killarney ❤️

I seem to have had a different experience than most of the people who have posted. My welcome was not friendly at all, it was rushed and not very welcoming. My exit was the same way, very rushed by Greta. The doors to the rooms are so heavy they are difficult to open. However, the food was good. I would not stay here again.

This is an outstanding B&B situated on a quiet clos, with impressive views of the Killarney National Park and an easy ten/fifteen minutes stroll from the town centre. From the moment we walked through the front door and were welcomed by Greta we both knew that we had selected the right place to stay. The bedroom was comfortable and we slept well for all three nights of our visit. Greta provided us with plenty of information about Killarney and the surrounding area. Her husband, Alfie cooks a mighty fine breakfast that set us up for the great walks that the Kerry countryside offers. And of course it would be wrong not to mention Greta’s cherry scones which fuelled us up so well whilst enjoying the sights and sounds that were is such easy reach.

What we liked best about Algret House was Greta’s warm hospitality and the proximity to the center of Killarney. You’re away from the tourist scrum, but it’s only a ten minute walk into town. Breakfasts were also good, and our room was very quiet. The B&B isn’t located in the most attractive neighborhood—it’s in a treeless suburban development. But, as I say, it’s a short walk into town. The room was fine, although it was rather small and cramped. The best thing was really Greta: she gave us excellent advice on restaurants and on the best pubs for traditional Irish music. (Be sure not to miss Paddy Sheehan’s!) We didn’t find this to be a lovable place, but it was a good strategic choice for enjoying Killarney, which is, unfortunately, glutted with tourists--best to stay at a place outside the center like this one.

I’d highly recommend Algret House to those visiting Killarney. Close to the center of the town, but in a quiet neighborhood, the house is immaculately clean. The breakfast room is large, and the food cooked to order, with delicious home-baked scones a highlight. The proprietor is friendly, attentive and eager to assist guests in any way she can.

When B&B's are this good I wonder why we ever use hotels. From the moment Greta greets you with her warm and friendly tones, you feel at home and know you have chosen well. Everything that follows confirms this. Our room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Ample off street parking is available. The walk to centre of town is an easy 5 mins. Greta's restaurant recommendations are spot on. Breakfast is always a highlight for me and Algret House does not disappoint. Cereal, fruit and coffee are all plentiful, the cooked options are varied and flexible. The rarely seen Alfie produced eggs of a masterful standard and consistency across our 3 day stay. Greta's homemade cherry scones came out with us every day as a delightful accompaniment to our mid morning cuppa. We were sad to leave and would highly recommend Algret House to anyone visiting Killarney.
