Blackwaters River Lodge, Knysna

This was a special birthday gift to my wife and it was everything I could’ve asked for and more!!!!!

We stayed over a few nights for a golf tour. What fantastic hosts. Bonnita really went beyond our expectations and all the staff were really accommodating. Rooms were well equipped and the lodge was so inviting. I would highly recommend to anyone.

After check in at reception we went to our house and immediately we could see that the accommodation is not the same as shown on the website. The pic's were taken some years ago.

Beautiful and quiet with friendly service.

We had the most amazing stay at Blackwaters River Lodge. Our garden cottage was perfect for our stay and it felt like home away from home. All the staff are super friendly, very professional and they were so accommodating to us. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt spoilt from when we arrived until we had to leave. The restaurant on site is fabulous and we had the most delicious meals. THANK YOU for welcoming us as guests and made us feel like family by the time we sadly hat to check out. We will definitely be back!

Really beautiful hotel, perfectly situated with amazing staff. The rooms are nice and spacious, equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing breakaway. You can enjoy their delicious picnic basket with the most spectacular views! We would definitely want to stay here again when in Knysna.

Wow what an awesome experience. Friendly staff and great attention to detail in the room with little notes explaining SA culture! Add to that birdlife to die for! It was so much fun watching the Knysna Loeries play in the trees while sipping on some OBS!! As an added bonus a massage in the comfort of my own room! Loved every minute of my stay!

A couple of things we enjoyed about the property included (i) great breakfast that was included the only morning we were there; and (ii) when we checked in the owner went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The reason for the poor review is due to the fact we were not provided a refund for the final two nights of our stay despite the fact the staff told us we could cancel and that we'd be provided a refund. Our room did not include air conditioning and our stay was over a few days in which temperatures were extremely hot. My wife was pregnant and literally did not sleep the one night we stayed there, and could not tolerate staying another two nights. I asked the front desk if we could cancel our last two nights and receive a refund. The staff said we would, but we'd need to coordinate with ******* to receive the refund. I've spent the last two months trying to coordinate with ******* to receive a refund. Each time I reached out, ******* was not able to actually get an answer from the property. Finally, today, they got an answer from the property after which I was informed I would not receive a refund. The fact that the staff specifically told me I could cancel and receive a refund is one of the reasons we did actually cancel our final two nights. As a result of this experience, I would not recommend staying at this property. We did stay the last two nights at the Views Boutique Hotel & Spa in Wilderness. I would highly recommend this hotel of Blackwaters.
