First room - unclean, not well maintained (tap broken/cracks in walls/flooring poor) ‘Standard room’ - we then opted for an upgrade to a deluxe twin (I think) and it was much better. More modern and clean. Overall, if you are booking - pay the extra and DO NOT opt for the standard room. We were pretty disappointed. When we asked for upgrade the gentleman stated we had booked the backpackers room so basically this quality should have been expected… However, all staff were very good when upgrade requested and very informative and helpful with public transport etc. Good place for a couple of nights if backpacking, but you could get a cleaner hostel in Chaweng centre for the same/less price.

Rotten room, stifling room without window, the completely rotten floor covered by linoleum can cause an accident, false room the photos it offers you on the site are completely false I put the photos what the room really looks like, you shower above the toilet, We booked for 1 week we stayed 5 days because we had no choice we had already paid we left later because we discovered that they had snakes in their garden, certainly they can enter the rooms through the shower drain Rotten Honestly pay more you would have better quality I strongly advise against it and I understand but really not the good review it's IMPOSSIBLE to have liked a place like this.

Now I’ve been travelling around Thailand for around 3 months, and this was definitely the worst experience I have had. The manager was so disrespectful and condescending and the place really didn’t look like the pictures. So sad and shady. The room wasn’t even that clean and there was mould at the bathroom ceiling. Just no.

Our stay at Nids started extremely well. It is a lovely botanical environment with lots of animals to watch and friendly staff to see. The breakfast is delicious, nutritious and reasonably priced and the rooms are perfectly comfortable, well-kept and quiet. The location is very interesting. It is just far enough away from Chaweng Beach to be quiet and authentic, yet close enough so you can easily enjoy the touristic amenities. The place had a very calm and safe feel to it, and it was nice to be appreciated as loyal long-term guests. To conclude, I would recommend staying at Nids Bungalows, especially families and couples. However, a word of warning. Do not rent your mopeds from the hotel (kind of a general unwritten rule anyway) as things can get conflicted, heated and expensive (for you). In addition, don’t stay there too long as you may get too comfortable, and you might drop your guard a little. This makes you look like walking cash registers for places like Nids Bungalows. On the bright side, even though the owner did nag us more than our mothers, she did provide a comical catchphrase, which we still use today: “In Thailand…you pay!” Enjoy your stay.

We have just stayed for 10 nights at Nids bungalows and we loved it, Nid, Alan and the other ladies who worked there could not have made us more welcome. The bungalow was lovely and spacious, cleaned daily, the Wi-Fi fast and the air conditioning made it really comfortable. The breakfasts for 100 Bart were exceptional. Toast, eggs, donuts, fresh fruit, fruit juice and coffee. I especially loved the way Nid cared for her rescued pets with such compassion. The location was perfect for us, it felt lovely and peaceful by the lake whilst only a 10 minutes walk to the beach and 5 minutes to bars and restaurants.

Before booking PLEASE read a few other 1 star reviews on this place, and especially management’s response to those! This is a good insight into how you will be treated while staying here. Save yourself the regret, money and uncomfortable feeling of staying here. The second you check in, you will want to check out! Everything looks wonderful and shiny on the photos, so my girlfriend and I booked a whole week at Nids Bungalows. The dirt road to nids bungalows, is without any street lights and muddy. Taxis will only take you about 200 meters off the bungalows, as it is not safe to go further. Besides the shallow ceiling light, in might I add “the deluxe room”, there were hairs and sand on the floor, and mould on the ceiling. There were also no Wi-Fi. When asking the manager Alan politely about the missing Wi-Fi, he will assure you, and show you it is working from his own phone. Sure, in the little shed with mosquitos next to the router, 20 meters outside your room! After subtlety letting him know that it did not in fact work ~inside~ our room, we were met with an uncomfortable attitude and condescending answers like “that critical for ya?”. After our neighbors also complained about the Wi-Fi, he was absolutely pissed, walking away swearing out loud - creating a very uncomfortable atmosphere in the area. The other staff and especially the bartender / cleaning lady is very nice! But when she is around him they are verbally fighting and he was yelling at her. Again, extremely unprofessional and we didn’t even feel comfortable enough to ask for the keys for the pool table. Though we already wanted to change accommodation that same night, we agreed to sleep on it, and not make him any angrier for the day. During the night, there was a nearby bar playing loud music late into the night, a meowing cat trying to get into our room, regularly barking dogs and worst of all - chickens screaming at 4:30 in the morning for hours!! The walls were paper thin and there were small gaps at the door, which made it sound like the chicken was in the room. I have never slept worse in my life and woke up dozens of times. The next morning, tired, annoyed and already in a bad mood, ‘cause of the atmosphere Alan had created, we decided enough was enough, packed our bags and left. Passing Alan on the way out who acted all smiley and happy, like nothing was wrong. We told him we wanted to check out (on the first day of our seven day stay might I add). He didn’t even seem surprised, only saying one thing - “I even got the Wi-Fi up and running for ya”. Though it had never worked the whole stay we were there. With no apologies or anything else from Alan, we left and it was the best decision we have ever made. We have traveled Thailand for 3 months, and this is the worst we have ever been treated. Literally anywhere else in koh Samui is better than this place, do yourself a favor and find somewhere else!

Please please PLEASE just check the managers responses to the other bad reviews. It will tell you everything you’d want to know about this grumpy, small minded old man. Me and my boyfriend have now traveled around Thailand for a couple of months, and we have never met a worse manager. When we booked this hotel we got an email, telling us that the road leading to the bungalows were under “construction”, and we shouldn’t pay the taxi driver ANY money before they drove us all the way to the bungalows. However our taxi dropped us off about 200 metres off the destination, to a road that was NOT under construction, but was simply in such bad condition that he couldn’t physically drive any further. We understood and carried our heavy suitcases the whole 200 meters down the muddy, wet and sandy road. The sight you meet when you arrive is nothing like the pictures. It’s dark, shady, almost sad, pigeons trapped in small cages, cats, dogs and chickens everywhere. We went to check in with Alan, and he told us due to “Maintenance” in the room we had booked, we had been upgraded to the deluxe room for the first couple of nights. Fair enough. However, we later found out that it was never a question about maintenance, but simply an overbooking made by Alan. We found it a bit weird that he had lied to us rather than just telling the truth, as well as with the road construction. I can also add, that there were wifi in the room that we had originally booked, and therefore my boyfriend actually went to ask Allan what the maintenance was about. Just out of curiosity, because we would rather stay in a room that was not all clean, rather than not having wifi. Alan responded, “there is people in the room?” to my boyfriend, like it was obvious and my boyfriend was just stupid. Again with the weird condescending attitude, though he was the one who told us there was maintenance, hence why we stayed in the “deluxe” room for the first couple nights. The deluxe room, well, there was nothing deluxe about. Such a shady dark room, long black hairs and sand on the floor, fungus on the bathroom ceiling and no wifi as promised. But this is Thailand we are talking about, and we have stayed in worse rooms. We went back to the reception and asked about the missing wifi, and we were met by the biggest attitude and ego from Alan, claiming it was very fast and was definitely working. We decided to let it go and get lunch. When we got back from lunch, still no wifi, we went to see Alan again. This time he was actually trying to fix the wifi that was “clearly” working. He got very angry at us for asking about it again, even though we had paid for wifi in our room. “Is it really that critical to you?” He asked my boyfriend, very condescending. We told him that yes it was that, we had paid for it, we needed to have wifi by the nighttime. Another couple of guests had also complained, and he got even more angry and made everyone feel uncomfortable. We decided to go to sleep, hopin
