We are currently at Zazen. It is pretty and the bungalows are nicely decorated. We swapped the garden bungalow for one near the beach because the garden looks a bit unloved. The entire decor is very stylish. The breakfast is very good, but we waited 35 minutes for the egg dishes. Unfortunately there is no service on the beach or by the pool. The pool bar is closed. Although there are a lot of staff in the restaurant, no one asks if you want anything at the pool or beach. The beach is one of the worst on Samui. You lie behind speedboats. The few loungers on the beach are reserved by guests. Since there is no staff on the beach, no one notices. The spa is closed. This was not mentioned when booking. What a shame. With a little more effort the hotel would have earned more stars.

The Garden Villa we booked was freshly renovated, beautifully furnished and clean. The hotel is still being renovated, the SPA, for example, was not open, which was not clear when booking. We were given a very warm welcome at reception and the rest of the staff were also very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant offers a great view of the sea. The rather small breakfast buffet offers everything you need and additional dishes can be ordered from the menu (e.g. Egg Benedict, fried eggs, etc.). The waiting times were sometimes a bit long, the eggs were sometimes already cold or didn't come at all. The beach by the hotel with the loungers was very small and the water didn't look particularly inviting. In addition, up to 10 parked boats blocked the view from time to time. The relatively small pool with no sea view was not really an alternative. The beach a few hundred meters away from the hotel was nicer, just without loungers. The area outside the hotel was not particularly inspiring. However, Fisherman's Village with its night market and many restaurants and boutiques is about 5 minutes away by taxi. Unfortunately, my wife suffered a serious injury caused by a parasol that was not properly secured and flew off. While the staff tried very hard, no one from management showed up. On the last day, I happened to meet the head of reception, who offered us a drink in the restaurant as compensation 15 minutes before departure. That was of course too late. In general, I got the impression that they were quite happy that we were leaving so they could get on with the day. A very disappointing reaction.
