Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa

Lamai Beach Koh Samui|1.7km from Naruemon Pearl Samui
My recent three-night stay at the Renaissance Koh Samui was an enchanting journey, filled with an exceptional level of service that beautifully compensated for the hotel's aging facilities. From the outset, the resort's fusion of Asian and Thai architectural elegance warmly welcomed us, accentuated by the delicate blend of styles and the presence of wood-clad interior columns, real wood floors and furniture. This seamless integration of tradition and geographical context, with brick and tropical roof tiles, created a captivating atmosphere. The lush foliage and well-grown trees embraced the surroundings, creating a vivid backdrop that captured the essence of the beachfront location. While time had etched its marks on the facility, the fusion of architectural styles and natural elements into the design remained a captivating feature. Our overall experience was outstanding, even as we encountered a few unforeseen challenges. On our second night, our beachfront BBQ plans were thwarted by the weather. The staff's quick thinking and adaptability came to the forefront as they seamlessly transitioned the venue to an indoor space. The speed and willingness with which the entire BBQ setup was moved indoors showcased the dedication to providing the best service possible. Moreover, on our third night, the pool bar staff went above and beyond by suggesting a private beachfront dinner to make up for the previous night's interruption. Though this well-intentioned plan was again impacted by the weather, their commitment to ensuring our satisfaction remained unwavering. What truly set this experience apart was the unwavering dedication of the staff. Their warmth and attentiveness overshadowed any inconveniences we faced. The restaurant and bar team, led by K. Woody, Honey, and Ken, consistently exceeded our expectations. Their personalized service made us feel genuinely valued as guests. The culinary journey, particularly the breakfast led by Executive Chef Chef Seng, was a delight. Despite the aging signs of the facilities, the culinary offerings maintained an impeccable standard. The coconut water coffee, and Samui Egg Benedict were exceptional, showcasing Chef Seng's expertise in curating a blend of local and international flavors. In summary, my stay at the Renaissance Koh Samui was a testament to the power of exceptional service to transcend the limitations of aging facilities. The resort's captivating fusion of architectural styles, the embracing of its environment, and the staff's dedication created a memorable retreat. The team's responsiveness, especially during weather-related interruptions, demonstrated their commitment to guest satisfaction. As I reflect on my stay, it is clear that the warmth of hospitality and the genuine care extended by the team are what truly define the Renaissance Koh Samui.

The hotel is located on both sides of the road - rooms on one side and on the other side (on the beach) bar and pool. The hotel is new (opened six months ago), everything is clean, beautiful. Beautiful swimming pool overlooking the sea, there is a slide for children. The beach near the hotel is bad - the entrance to the sea 🤦🏻‍♀️ rocks that can hurt your legs. This is despite the fact that the Lamai beach itself is excellent! You have to leave to swim. The breakfast is not fancy, but good - there is everything you need. The hotel has its own application, which is asked to be downloaded upon check-in and in it you can order food, excursions, ask to bring something to the room. They take a deposit of

The standard garden view room that is shown in the pictures is not the room you get. You get a hut with a double bed in it which is not very comfortable. No way could a bath fit in it. The roof leaked on our hut, luckily not above the bed so wasn't a big problem, just put a towel on it. There is no where to sit other than a small wooden bench on porch, but not big enough for two people. Small very dated and bodged shower room. Needs renovating. . The small area of the pool had no tiles on it and if you touched it black slime came off. This has now been hidden with a sheet of plywood. The staff are lovely, very polite and smiling and always helpfull. There was a wedding then a bbq on the beach and the staff did a great job. Having said all this we did go back and stay because of the location. Only a few minutes into busy part of lamai and great beach.

This hotel hardware is good, but, for example, my remote room does not have wifi (only restaurant / cafe), there is no hot water in the bath. . . (It’s too late for the first day. The boss said that he turned off the hot water, but he didn’t wash his hair the next morning. I don’t understand...) It’s fair to say that the room is good, but it’s a bit noisy at night.

The villa is quite big, the living room, bedroom, swimming pool, bathroom and bathroom are all separated. The address is a bit far from some famous beaches, but there is a beach right next to the hotel. You can book a taxi or a one-day tour on Ctrip in advance, or you can rent a motorcycle from the hotel. The taxi is very expensive for 2 kilometers 40 RMB, the motorcycle is booked one day in advance or I am afraid that there will be no more. The hotel environment is very good, and the swimming pool is not bad. Although it is smaller than the swimming pool of a sea view room worth several thousand, the price is quite conscientious. Girls who are used to traveling alone are not bad living alone, there are a lot of mosquitoes, it is best to bring an anti-mosquito electric plug. There are a lot of animal sounds, and the sound of the sea, you can bring earplugs. If you need to clean, you have to tell the front desk, otherwise it will not be cleaned actively.

Stayed here for a week. On arrival, no welcome drink - nothing! We have been coming to Thailand for a few years and this was the first hotel with nothing! Asked for a quiet room with additional pillows! And we were allocated 2205! Generally a quiet room. We had booked to come to this hotel several times but was cancelled due to covid so this was the third booking and great that we finally made it here! The hotel offer no breakfast or food! But there are enough places to eat locally! We tried them all! From the French windmill place to the Thai restaurant offering an English breakfast! I would suggest you avoid them and eat with the locals at the local fresh food market - cross the main road outside the hotel and walk through the petrol station! Two fried eggs with boiled rice - 30bts! Sticky rice and mango 60bts! Slice of watermelon 10 bts! Then walk along the main road towards the Tesco Lotus and you will find a metal cube called HOP. Girl makes you anything you’d like for 20 bts! Cheap! The hotel is well located! Walking distance to the Lamai Sunday market as well as loads of restaurants and places to eat and drink… out of the main road of the hotel, turn left and first right! Walk straight up the road for about ten/15 minutes! We loved this place! And will definitely be coming back next year!

Pros: Close to beach and Sunday Market. Cons: Poor pool. Stayed 24-Jan-2020 for 4 nights in superior room without breakfast. I previously stayed on 23-Nov-2019 for 3 nights in a deluxe room 204 (which was a better and larger room). On check-in the receptionist asked for my telephone-number, social media numbers and took my photograph for 'security reasons'. There is no lift. The security guard recognised me on my second stay and carried my suitcase on his shoulders to the first floor. The deluxe rooms are nicer as they have a balcony with table and chairs, however the frosted-type balcony windows can only be partially opened. The superior rooms without any windows (or balcony) makes drying wet clothes difficult. Kettle and cups are provided. Cleaners come after 13:00pm and new sheets were supplied every day. Toilet rolls were also replaced daily. The wifi was ok for text messages, not for videos. The pool is smaller than it appears in advertised pictures. It looked greenish and no smell of chlorine. I only saw one couple use it during both my stays. The Sunday walking market is on the same street.
