When we return to Iceland, we will most likely look first at staying here. It was very clean and comfortable, the people at the front desk were super helpful, the lobby was beautiful, and we enjoyed the free garage parking very much. We stayed here our last night before flying back home, and we had to leave at 6am so we were unable to enjoy the complimentary breakfast, but they did have coffee and pastries waiting for us in the lobby before we departed. The location was just a short 5 minute drive to the center of town, and the person at the check-in desk gave us very good directions for parking and even made a great dinner reservation for us at the Seafood Grill. We had a wonderful time.

We stayed here for two nights by the end of our holiday in Iceland. It is located a few minutes drive from the city centre. The studio was of very good size with wide window. The bed and the pillow are reasonably comfortable. Towels are provided every other day but fine to us. The table which was supposed to be for dinning is pretty small though. We did not use the kitchen which has limited but sufficient utensils. The bathroom is on the small size but quite functional with strong shower. But there are a few things. First, there is no on-site staff and the entry was keyless by codes which are supposed to be emailed to us. We have not received the email. We called the number displayed in the notice on the ground floor which was immediately answered. It was found out that the email provided by expedia.com (I made booking through Agoda) was not related to me. The second problem was that, after resolving this without delay, we entered the room and found that the bathroom door was damaged to the extent that it could not be shut. Called again and this was not resolved by the first staff without returning a call to us as promised. We called the second time when Maria was a lot more helpful but was not able to contact the manager after many attempts. This was not resolved until the next day. The third problem is about parking, there were no instructions or advice as to where should we park, except for display of some non-English signs.

This hotel has a lot going for it, but it's held back by the fit and finish of many of the hotel's spaces. Overall, the hotel just feels dated. The red carpet in all of the halls is faded and stained, the wood floor in the room had a lot of damage, and the spa is way past its prime. On a positive note, the furniture in the room has been updated recently and the pieces were nice plus I found the bed to be very comfortable. Also, breakfast was really good! The service at the hotel was also great. But that spa, ugh. It's a perk of being a gold/diamond member, but the spa is just not in good condition. Most urgently, something needs to be done about the steam room, it smelled awful while we were there and even made other parts of the spa smell. But overall, the spa was just not in good shape with damage everywhere. Also, the location of this hotel isn't great if you're looking to explore Reykjavik but, if like us, you want somewhere with free parking for you to explore the rest of Iceland, then this is a great location for you.

I would probably give this hotel 3.5 as it was a little hostelly but the quirkiness kind of made up for it. After reading previous reviews I was actually expecting the rooms to be smaller. They were small but perfectly adequate for single rooms. My son and I had a room each at ground level. If I went again I'd go for a higher floor as had to shut the curtains when people used the hot tub outside the window. Also we were woken by the laundry a few times in rooms 28 and 29. Although the rooms weren't cheap, they were very reasonable by Icelandic standards and I liked being out of town with the harbour, the elf park and the wonderful restaurant ”Krydd” nearby. It was easy to get into Reykjavik on the no 1 bus and some of the tours pick you up at the hotel. The tour desk were very good for organising our trips (link provided by the hotel) and Gatway to Iceland run a brilliant Golden Circle tour - reviewed separately. Also it was a great perk that the Flybus to and from the airport stops there. I enjoyed breakfast- a cold buffet with porridge and waffles. Many hotels in the capital don't offer breakfast at all or charge an awful lot for it so it was very welcome. The fish and chips, fish soup and burgers at the restaurant were very good and I liked the people there. It wasn't luxury but it made for a great Iceland experience.

The hostel was clean and warm, the rooms were well laid out, with a safe for each person. It's such an odd looking building, but that's definitely part of the charm! The large kitchen/common area looks cool both from within and from the street looking up at it: the huge windows, and the warm coloured, up-lit walls make it so cosy! The hostel is spitting distance from Hallgrimskirkja, you can see it from the common room windows. This means you're in the heart of the city - great if you have no transport! It does mean you're in the heart of the tourist traps too... so any shop nearby (with the exception of Kronan stores) will be more expensive than those further afield. The staff leave you to do your own thing, the cleaners are all super friendly, the showers are always hot, and in decent condition. It really exceeded my expectations. I might have wished for an onsite bar or cafe for socializing, but everything is so expensive in Iceland that I was glad of the lack of temptation! And if you do need that sort of diversion, the B47 Hostel, which occupies the lower floors of the same building, has something like that. I'm sure it would have been okay to use it.

After initially looking forward to our stay, unfortunately within a few minutes of arrival, the shine was swiftly taken off of the experience by the overall cleanliness/condition of the room. The bathroom ceiling was disgusting and unlikely to have been cleaned in months. On that note, when walking into the bathroom, be sure not to step on the footplate on the door frame, which see-saw's by a couple of inches every time you do (the silicone filler was never going to fix this problem!!). The bed lacks a headboard, as the ceiling slopes low towards this end, meaning that your pillow needs to be at least a foot or so from that end, or else your forehead would touch the ceiling. The result of this (if over 5ft11 like myself, is that your feet hang over the end of the bed (pray you don't want to sit up in bed). Aside from the historical wear, scuffs and marks on the walks & carpets, if given a much overdue deep clean or repaint, this would be a far nicer base to stay for your trip. As is currently stands, it's certainly overpriced as the room currently sits.

We were initially allocated 331 which was in another block and had twin beds, so we swapped to room 301 which was double and we weren't disappointed. It was a clean and spacious, comfy bed .Great to have a ettle, fridge and coffee machine :-) Large walk in shower with constant hot water. Large wardrobe, plenty of storage. We had a 2nd door onto a corridor to other rooms, there was windows in this wall but by opening curtains people on corridor could look in. Only downside no natural light. Relatives across corridor in room 305 had full wall of windows for day light. Breakfast was good choice and plentiful. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Located with walking access to everything. Would stay here again and recommend

GGuest User 2023.06.12
Most probably the best hotel in Reykjavik, modern, new, everything in great condition and with a great location. That being said it is a very expensive hotel even for Icelandic standards. So let me start with the highlights of this hotel: - Very comfortable and great materials condition. - AC with individual room adjustable temperature is a great plus for Iceland. - I got the basic room and it felt big enough, modern and super clean. The bathroom was also big but there was no bathtub unfortunately. Great comfortable bed and sheets. - Le Labo bath products are truly amazing. One of the best I ever tried! I also appreciated that for ecologic reasons they weren't in non reusable small plastic bottles. - The rooms are silent and relaxing. I would change the black TV furniture as black always highlight the dust on it.. even when the room is nicely cleaned. - The breakfast is big and overall with good quality. But daily variation should be bigger. - The location is perfect to stroll along the shops and walking distance to the most important city spots. - The spa is beautiful and very interesting. Probably the most well designed small spa in a city hotel I have ever seen. Complimentary use of the spa is a very nice touch indeed. Although it was a really good expericence in no way this was a perfect stay specially when the price tag is considered: - The hall and corridors cleaning left too much to be desirable. At least at 3rd floor corridor there was dust, earth and stains that remained for the whole 3 night stay. It is strange as the rooms are really well cleaned (maybe it's a different team? maybe someone forgot that the corridors are also to be cleaned?). - The reception. It is always busy and sometimes feels chaotic at the proper hotel entrance. I also felt that some guest were treated differently and with more care. I got no welcome drink or even the suggestion to leave the bags. That's ok for me but then I realized the guest next to me was immediately offered all of this. I mean.. consistency is important at this level. - Hidden fees. Ok maybe it was a misunderstanding but when we arrived we were told that the hotel had valet parking only. But nobody told us the extortion each night of it. At the chekout there it was though. Also in the breakfast there was no specific tag with the champagne price but after I filled a glass with it a waiter quickly send me the bill to sign. I mean it is very bad to mix not included stuff in the buffet. Also every egg besides the scramble had a price tag. I mean for almost 700 euros a night is it reasonable to charge for a egg toast?. - The room curtains. Beautifull but totally off for iceland summer status (2-3hours of darkness). Light comes in in every curtain fold so it is impossible to cover it. Every night I woke up several times due to too much outdoor light in the rooms. This should be quickly addressed. It honestly really bothered me. - The spa only opens at 12h00 meaning you cannot use it

The breakfast is very rich! ! The point is that the hotel is very clean and warm. The front desk is great. Although there is a certain distance from the city, there is a bus stop behind the hotel. It is very convenient to buy a ticket from the front desk of the hotel and get to the city in less than half an hour! ! The bus is also very punctual, if I go next time I will choose to live in this place

The hotel staffs were very welcoming and hospitality. We feel really good when we arrived at the hotel and even during departure. Breakfast spread was small but great. We had a warm and nice breakkie. The room is very cosy. The bed was very soft and springy! The blanket was just nice, very warm and comfortable. How we wish we could bring home. Haha. While there was a good choice at breakfast the hot food could have been hotter and replenished more often. We had the lamb for dinner on our last night. The lamb was ok a little greasy but the mashed potato left something to be desired. I don’t know a professional chef would send mashed potatoes out with lumps in. I would suggest they need to start using a ricer or go back to catering school.

GGuest User201 Hotel staff were very nice and allowed us to check in early. The rooms were comfortable with no extra frills. It was a great hotel, close by bus stops, to call home base while we were exploring Iceland. The breakfast was simple but filling: croissants, toast, cereal, etc. My only complaint is about the other travelers. There is a cart to bus your breakfast dishes…which means throw away your trash, scrape off your plate and put your dirty silverware in the basket. A lot of travelers did not do this and to us, that’s inconsiderate of the staff. So, if you’re reading this…please bus your dishes.

XXUEZHEN6.7 kilometers from the city center, a bit far. There are no attractions nearby. In the morning, the airport is too early for 4:00. Flybus can't pick up the hotel. You have to spend more than 3,600 Icelandic krona to fly to the Flybus terminal and transfer to Flybus to the airport. The breakfast was good, but the early departures were not willing to provide breakfast. If you want to bring breakfast out of the hotel early, you will be asked to pay extra. Although it does not contain breakfast, the pots and pans are all full, you can do it, and you can eat well; 2. The problem is coming, what do you do? Shopping? The road is opposite to the supermarket, and there are supermarkets around, everything is there; 3. The location is not in the city, but the road within 4 kilometers, the basic self-driving here, so there is no problem; 4. The airport is closer than the city, and it will be fast in a while.
