On our way to Cabana Retreat, we saw a couple of cows at the roadside. Since I wanted to take some photos, my friend made a U-turn so that I could capture a few. One cow was a shade of white & it looked quite tame & docile. The road leading to our retreat was very quiet. We hardly saw any cars & passed a jetty signboard. We arrived at 3:00 pm & managed to park our rented car near the Resort’s entrance. I went straight to the Front desk to check-in & to get our keys to our quad-tent. Thankfully, our quad-tent was located near to the common bathroom. We had chosen a quad-tent because the 4 of us wanted to have a glamping experience together. Unfortunately, one friend had to leave. Thus, there was 1 empty mattress on a wooden pallet which we had used to put all our food. Although the quad-tent was compact, it came equipped with an air-cooler, a standing fan, a small wooden table & chair, a wicker basket that was used as a wastepaper basket, a long mirror & a small area to hang our clothes. There was also a steel shoe rack. Throw pillows were given on each bed. The sheets & blankets were of hotel quality while the mattress was comfortable enough though I could still feel the wooden pallets underneath it all. The material covering our tents was of high quality too & we had double tent zippers for safety & protection. Our 2-day package came with free activities on the beach. Unfortunately, the staff was not available to teach us to handle the paddleboat. Hence, we had to forgo the non-motorised activities. My 2 friends decided to rest in the tent but I decided to walk on the beach. Strangely enough, I saw many cows on the beach! They were going for the waves. As it was starting to drizzle, I left the beach & headed back to the tent. Our package also included a Firefly experience on our 1st night. However, we had to drive to the jetty ourselves. When we arrived, we mentioned the name of our Hotel & were given admittance into the boat. The host, a middle-aged man told us to be quiet while he summoned the fireflies to our direction. It was such an awesome magical experience when the fireflies started appearing before your very eyes. Even if it’s not in the package, please make sure that you go for this activity. The next morning, we had breakfast at the Coffee House as it was included in the package. We were given a selection to choose from, either American or local meals. They were freshly made & tasty. The scenery was of the beach. There were also a few swings for guests to enjoy on underneath a roof. Outdoor tables, chairs & benches were provided on the beach where guests could enjoy their breakfast with the sand underneath their feet. There were many cats & dogs around the vicinity. Most probably they were strays. We saw a rooster trying to chase away a mangy dog. Throughout our stay, we would buy some food & feed the cats, dogs & rooster. In short, all meals – breakfast, lunch & dinner were at the Coffee House. We didn’t feel a need to

My partner and I really like this place very spacious room,bed is good but the ac is not that cold and some of the inside room structure really needed attention to be repaired,such as the bathroom some of the lights didn't work inside the room but the room got good window and the view in the morning is nice located at very quiet part of the town parking for car is a lot and convinient hotel also close to many convinient store around receptionist is very professional attending customer and friendly check in instructions are very clear and easy will look forward for future stay.

Is a good place to stay & relaxing, nearby town side Kota Belud, very friendly staffs a quiet place, price was cheap. Good environment surrounding was nice nearbourhood, I would recommend to go to this place for a cheap & budget stay. A lot of surrounding environment area to see, There were 10 rooms all together, group around the place, not far from the roadside, at around 5 minutes walking & 3 minutes driving then can reach the place

You need to go to the Magellan Hotel and take a bus to the pier to get to the island, which costs an additional 75rm/person and takes 2 and a half hours. The conditions on the island are still limited, the environment is good and clean, but the bathroom facilities are relatively old, and the air conditioner has no refrigerant and is not very cool 😅 (feed back to the staff in time when checking the room, otherwise you will not be able to sleep at night because the seaside is very humid and hot) But! The next day, the hotel gave us more than an hour of snorkeling! Super fun~ You can use the off-road vehicle at your own expense on the beach, and use paddleboards for free. Some dishes in the restaurant are closed. Recommendations: pineapple fried rice, lamb shank and cream pasta are all available.

As a long-distance couple that can only meet with one another once every one to two months, choosing where to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday was even more important for me, and I can say with full confidence that I did not choose wrong in staying at Shangri-la Rasa Ria. I contacted them prior to my visit about possibly helping me out with planning a surprise and celebrating the birthday, and the staff were all extremely supportive and cooperative in planning out the details. On the day of the surprise, we originally had planned to have them organized at one of the outdoor bars overlooking the sunset, but because of heavy rain, the staff all helped me reorganize them at the lobby bar, with the band singing the Happy Birthday Song together with the staffs and the other hotel guests joining in. The overall experience was also absolutely wonderful, and we enjoyed the 4 nights we stayed there. Perhaps if there is one thing to keep in mind, it would be its location, as it is situated about an hour's drive from the airport and the city center (if not more depending on the traffic).

Quite old, can hear from downstairs footsteps, shower, television voice, people talking. Common: The road to Nikgold quite challenging ( as common as other areas in Kundasang, so it wasnt a big deal) No phone line, they do provide WiFi which is excellent Overall it was a pleasant stay. ***All kinds of hypocritical hotel party tourists are forbidden to enter ***for fear of insects and animals are forbidden*** The first thing to note is that the humidity in the Shenshan Mountain is very high, it can give you heavy fog at every turn, and the animal diversity in the Shenshan is also very high. Due to the various local architectural structures with unique characteristics, many small animals can enter the room. Yes, but most of them will not provoke people except mosquitoes and are mostly harmless. All ratings are relative, after all, there are only a handful of B&Bs that are so close to the mountain near Kundashan Town. As a homestay for climbing the sacred mountain, it is generally very good. The environment is still very comfortable, but the humidity is too high and the sound insulation of the walls is not very satisfactory. The hot water facilities are not as bad as other reviews. They may have been improved. They are cleaned every day, and they are still a little careful about hygiene. Breakfast can be full. It’s just over 1 km to the Shenshan Park Headquarters. If the weather is good, you can see the Shenshan Peak in the lodge. There are dogs, but they are relatives. As long as they know you, they will not be fierce. One night, there was no street light in the darkness. Walking back to the room from the Borneo Hotel far away, it was quite warm when the dog came out to lead the way at the entrance of the lodge. The mountain is really quite sensible.

In previous reviews, most of them have been written, which is a nice place away from the pressure. It takes a while to come, but you have something. A great place to relax in a hanging mat, drink beer with a great sunset or to snorkel/drop. You can rent a paddleboard or kayak with a snorkel set. So you can go to find yourself. You can also take a organized snorkel or dive trip. All is thought, enough hangers in the room for your clothes, clam, even a paraplus at the front door when it's opposite. The (private) beach also hangs mats and are also in cookers beach mats. Well done, Bigfin. The vibe is super chill, you can pick your drinks in the kitchen. Everyone is in for a talk, there is often music on. Bigfin is a pretty stupid place to join, dive/snorkel, swimming, hanging mat, playing games, eating, drinking. As it is right on holiday. Come here for at least 3 nights is our advice. It's paying and it won't disappoint you! Eating is fine, also for vegetarians. No high cuisine. Ow and they even sold Oreo cookies 😎. Taking your own food and drink is not necessary

Mermaid Island is very beautiful, but I want to complain about Ctrip’s staff. I contacted them more than a month in advance and said that on the day of check-in, I went to Jesselton Point at 7 o’clock in the morning and found the Jsk counter. No problem, but when I arrived at 7 o'clock that day, the counter staff told me that the bus would arrive at 9 o'clock. I waited there for two hours before getting on the bus. I arrived at the pier after 12 o'clock and arrived at the island at 1:30 noon (the time to get to the island varies depending on the season). Check-out is also different (you need to confirm again before traveling). Then I only went to one of the two snorkeling places promised in the afternoon, and the three meals were relatively ordinary. Fortunately, the sea is really beautiful, and there are six or seven people in the group who are seasick.

I visited with my Family on the 8th of August. Took a twin room which has 2 queen sized beds. I arrived at the location at noon, feeling very stressed out because was having a bit of an argument with the family. My mother was having one of her fits when we arrived, saying she didn't like the place, I on the other hand, was wondering why I spent so much money on this place. I called the caretaker and he was quick to respond, good guy, we got to our room, still stressed out, and felt instantly that the room was sp****. I was immediately questioning my reasoning for booking this place. Fast forward an hour or so later, when everyone calmed down (mother included), we were immediately in a better mood. The landscaping of the place is really beautiful, and the view of mount kinabalu was very majestic. We left both the front and back door open and the winds were blowing through the room, keeping it cool, my mom and my sisters were all starting to enjoy the place, myself included. I started looking into the details of the rooms, the quality of the materials used to construct the villa was of the highest quality, toilet was made with marble, and everything else was simple but robust, and could tell that material choice was quite important. The landscaping was also quite nice. Beautiful garden. And it's just so private. To sum it all up here are the pros and cons of this place. Pros: 1. High quality material used to construct the rooms 2. Beautiful landscaping - very calming and great. 3. Very private 4. Friendly and quick team to reply 5. Nice toilet (best in Kundasang) Cons 1. Price a bit on the high side (but it's private and most probably the nicest hotel in kundasang, cant compare to established hotels in the city( 2. Lacks some finer details : instead of 3 in 1 coffee, put a Nespresso machine in every room with 4 to 6 capsules, that really makes a difference in terms of perceived quality. 3. Pillows could be better - sheets are alright and bed is alright - but I stayed in four seasons kl for 40 percent cheaper, so... A bit hard on that end 4. I appreciate the disposable tooth brush, soaps etc. But I think the soap would be better if it was in a bottle stuck to the shower wall where it can be refillable, perhaps they could use a branded soap and shampoo for that, and not put it in small bottles, but in refillable permanent bottles in the room. 5. Restaurant - it's not under them, they share it with the hotel about a 5 minutes drive away. It's not bad, but it's far from good. No alcohol in sight there, so better BYOD. Although pricing wise it's on the high side, and there are some things that they can improve on, I'd still go back there, as it's the only great and private stay in kundasang. Everywhere else is not up to spring gardens quality, for now....
