i recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful resort, and it was an incredibly relaxing experience. the ambience inside the property is truly pleasing and serene, with a nature-friendly vibe that immediately puts you at ease. the rooms were well-maintained, spacious, and provided a perfect balance of comfort and style. one of the highlights of the resort is definitely the pool—it’s stunning and adds so much to the overall experience. if you’re visiting, i highly recommend opting for the pool-view villas; they offer an unbeatable view and atmosphere. the food was delicious, with a wide variety of options, although slightly on the pricey side. that said, the quality more than made up for it. lastly, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. overall, a wonderful place for a peaceful getaway!
The Zuri Kumarakom Kerala Resort & Spa

This place clearly is past its prime from the looks of it. Our Deluxe Lagoon view room is past its ‘best by’ date. The furniture is fraying, the mirror has big stains, the room had a stink when we checked in, the aircon works only at one setting - 19 degrees. The woodwork has been shoddily repaired, the glass door has turned yellow with grime. The maintenance and upkeep of the property evidently de***ds serious attention. Sadly, when I attempted to show some pictures of the room to the ***agement, it barely caused any concern. I was informed that the extended Covid lockdown - and the tropical climate and moist air, has taken a huge toll on the property. In other words, we really can’t do much! However, supposedly a revamp of the property is underway - doesn’t help us though. While the explanation maybe valid, the nonchalant response was galling and totally unexpected. And any way, why shouldn’t we, as paying guests, expect better? At breakfast this morning, the papaya was un-ripened, the pineapple was overripe and discoloured. And the best. - they couldn’t find decent, fresh and ripe local bananas to serve! At lunch, the Thai green curry was spicy - so spicy and none of us four could eat more than one spoon. We refused to eat it and asked them to take it back. Yet amazingly, it appeared on our bill - no apologies offered. Naturally, we refused to pay for the dish. Quite eventful first 24 hours.

Our vacation was truly relaxing and much needed. The services were top-notch, and a special thanks to Executive Chef Subin for serving delicious meals throughout our stay. Chayakada is an absolute must-visit in the evening—perfect for watching the breathtaking sunset while enjoying a refreshing cup of tea and some mouthwatering snacks. We stayed for two nights and absolutely loved the experience. Can’t wait to visit again soon!
Kumarakom Lake Resort

My wife and I spent two nights at the Kumarakom Lake Resort. It was an interesting stay. It's a nice place but a bit rustic. There's not a lot to do there unless you're into resort things, such as spa treatments. The hotel is made up of small clusters of one story rooms, perhaps two to four in a building. A lot of the hotel is open to the elements. For example, there was just a stone paved walkway between our room and the lobby, and it rained once or twice while we were there. Our room was nice but a bit smaller than other hotels we've stayed in. The unusual thing about the room was that the bathroom was outside, but private, connected to the room. The bathroom had a shower which was open to the sky, but at least it had hot water. I suppose it's fairly hot all year long there or showering outside would be a bit uncomfortable. It was fairly hot while we were there. They gave us a key for the room, but it was really not a key. Every ”key” was the same so any key would open any room Breakfast was good and the staff was excellent. If you're into resort travel, this might be a nice hotel for you.
Coconut Lagoon Kumarakom- a CGH Earth Experience
4.6/547 Reviews
We have recently spent 12 wonderful nights at Coconut Lagoon. The whole stay was so special and every member of the staff worked so hard to make this a memorable experience. Our Heritage Bungalow was immaculate with Abin making certain we had everything we needed. We decided to chose the buffet each evening which offers a large range of tasty vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes followed by wonderful desserts. The team in the restaurant are diligent interacting well with the different nationalities and age groups. I’d love to have been able to name each and everyone as they all welcomed us with a smile. Thank you Shafi, Thomas, Surya and all the Chefs to name a few. We love everything about beautiful green Coconut Lagoon with all the birds, butterflies, turtles and the monitor lizard! We hopefully will be returning next year.
Niraamaya Wellness Retreats Backwaters and Beyond Kumarakom

I booked a 21-day Ayurvedic detox program at Niraamaya Retreats Backwaters & Beyond, expecting a 5-star luxury wellness experience. Unfortunately, it was anything but. In reality, this resort is not even a 3-star property, let alone 5. ✅ The Good ✔ Polite staff – They tried their best, but they are clearly undertrained and understaffed. ✔ Beautiful location – The serene backwater views could have been a highlight if the resort was well-maintained. ❌ The Bad 1️⃣ False Advertising 🏨 The resort is not a 5-star property. The facilities, service, and treatments are subpar. 🌿 The Ayurvedic program was poorly structured, and my prescribed medicine took 4 days to arrive, completely disrupting the detox plan. 2️⃣ Unhygienic and Neglected Facilities 🛏 Dirty rooms – Stained linens, dusty furniture, and unclean bathrooms. 🏊‍♂️ Private pool was dirty – The filters were off until I explicitly asked for them to be turned on. 🚿 Common areas were neglected – Bird droppings, insects, and a visible lack of maintenance everywhere. 3️⃣ Uncomfortable Accommodations 🛌 The bed was so stiff that I had trouble sleeping and woke up every morning with my whole body aching. 🚫 This is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be a luxury wellness retreat. 4️⃣ Unprofessional Service 🙅‍♂️ Staff lacked proper training and some struggled with English, making communication difficult. 🕷 A spider web (with what looked like a scorpion) at my doorstep took days to remove, until I finally requested it to be cleaned. 5️⃣ Unsupportive Management 📢 Management was not on top of running the operations. I felt the need to manage the staff for basic housekeeping and service. 🚨 The Ugly: I Had to Leave Early By the 5th day, I couldn’t take it anymore and left early, spending extra money to find better accommodation and treatments in Kochi. 💸 Instead of healing, I left stressed, exhausted, and financially strained. ⚠️ Final Thoughts: Avoid This Place!!! While the staff tried, the quality of the facility, cleanliness, quality of the program and poor service ruined this experience. This is not a luxury retreat, and I strongly advise against staying here…! Kerala deserves better representation than this.. 😞
