We are a couple and this was the 3rd time we came to Koyasan. We know this immersive experience among the monks well. We were made very welcome already before check-in time. They put our luggage aside and went to visit the cemetery. Coming back at the end of the day, apprentice monks welcomed us with a huge smile and almost humor. They served us tea and okakis (crackers) while we checked in. The room was traditional, tatami and futon with private toto toilet and sink. (It is not always private in others where the toilets are shared). It was beautiful and clean. A mini fridge. Bottles of water and tea available with kettle. The shower and bath (sento), super clean and hot, it was super nice to be able to bathe in peace after a long day. We are tattooed and have not seen any restrictions on this. Besides, there was no one there at the same time as me or my fiancé so it was like it was private! Meal at 5:30 pm, vegetarian and delicious even though we love meat, we can do without it. Impeccable service. Morning ceremony my fiancé went to, great experience as usual and the monks were on hand for questions. Breakfast at 7:30 am. As good as the day before! Pleasant departure, nothing to say, we leave with great memories of this place. We recommend Soji-inn.
