"6:50 is morning class time, you can observe Okunoin is nearby and it's easy to walk there. You can also see deer coming from the mountains in the courtyard in the morning If you don’t care about sitting the Japanese way when eating, you can get a folding chair when you enter the restaurant."

"The hotel was great, and the staff's English was excellent. The only downside was that the food wasn't very good. Maybe I'm just too picky, I really love meat dishes."

"A very nice experience, the whole experience was very ceremonial. Not only was the one-night stay with two meals excellent, but the morning prayers the following day truly reflected the Buddhist aspirations of people from different countries. I will definitely go again if I have the chance."

Koyasan Syukubou Fudouin Hotels in Koya

"My first time at Shukubo, Fudoin was a very good experience. Fudo-in was built in 906 to enshrine King Fudo Myoto. Emperor Toba and Empress Toba of the Heian period are buried here. Currently there are 14 rooms, 3 room types, 4 without bathroom, 8 with bathroom, and 2 with both bathroom. This time I stayed in a room with a bathroom. The room was comfortable and clean. The public bathroom experience is also very good. The breakfast and dinner were very good. They were in a beautiful and elegant room. The dining location and meals were arranged in advance, and the waiters would come to the room to guide them. Many shukubo in Koyasan are facing the street. This hospital is not facing the street. It is quiet and unique. It can be reached by walking a short distance from the bus station."

"The quilt in the room is very soft and warm, and the meals are rich. The room has no threshold, making it convenient for night tours. Morning classes are very interesting."

"The room was located in a stunning and truly beautiful temple. The person who welcomed us was incredibly kind and, the next morning, gave us a full tour of the temple and its different areas. The room was a bit cold in January but amazing, and the public baths were not always very convenient, but the hot onsen at the end of the day, along with the friendliness and authentic atmosphere, made the experience truly wonderful."

Koyasan Syukubo Zofukuin Hotels in Koya

"I stayed here June 6th and 7th 2024 I have stayed at dozens of places in Japan over three months, from temples to hotels, guest houses, and hostels. I am not some person who has only stayed at top hotels then got upset when not knowing what to expect elsewhwere. This was the worst experience BY FAR. There is an extremely rude monk running the place. ***** bath only, which is not listed on the reservation sites. To make matters worse, it is only open for four hours a day in the evening. Want a morning shower or bath? Too bad, it is only open 4 hours in the evening. Want a clean bath? Too bad. There was a giant millipede swimming around in the bath. When I tried to show the monk and didnt take my slippers off in the right place of the bathroom he yelled at me. SHOES HERE NOW! I tried to say look please there is a huge bug (in Japanese) and he yelled again SHOES HERE NOW! NOW! I have no idea how such a rude person became Buddhist, he clearly does not follow his own religion. In every Japanese accommodation there is at bare minimum communal hot water for tea and a microwave. Not here though. When I asked about it the monk acted like I was crazy and gave me an attitude. He left the office at 3:30 and disappeared despite a 5pm closing time. Need info? Too bad."

"Beautiful place, however the information published is not all accurate. Dinner is actually at 6 p.m. while the website says 5 p.m. Moreover, the curfew at 8 p.m. is not indicated on the website. So we missed the evening visit to the cemetery that we had booked and paid for."

"The hardware is unique and beautiful! There are two aspects to the software: 1. If you are a true Buddhist, you will feel that the commercial atmosphere is very strong, and the morning and evening classes are irregular. 2. The basic services are not up to standard, such as frozen food. It is disappointing that hot water or water boiling tools are not provided in snowy weather. of!"

"Thank you very much! It's what I want! Thank you very much for everything Akamatsuin! I attended morning classes, made a wish, and bought (pleased) a lot of leaves from the Sancobalt pine! When I checked in, I received a five-color bracelet as a gift! Everything is super happy😄 Don't compare with city hotels because they are completely different. The room is very big, because it is underground and connected to the garden, which is so happy. The toilet and bathroom are separated, and the dry and wet areas are separated, which is good. Slept peacefully. I often don’t sleep well in hotels outside. A holy place indeed! The dining area is very precious, with precious furnishings and screen paintings! But unfortunately, it seems that some guests did not notice this preciousness. Another unexpected joy is that the hair dryer is from the Panasonic negative ion series! Hair is not dry after blow-drying❤️ On the first day, it rained on the mountain and snow fell on the mountain. Although it was very cold, it was beautiful! I hope to visit this sacred Mount Koya again next year when the weather warms up! I hope I can book a room at Akamatsuin again by then."

"Beautiful temple with a lovely garden, extremely comfortable rooms, nice, helpful, communicative service, pleasant public baths (from 4 pm to 9 pm), and the meals were absolutely delicious (I myself being a definite anti-veg). Well worth the money, apart from any spiritual experience. "

"This hotel was difficult to book, but it's perfectly located in the heart of Koyasan, offering an exceptional environment. It's right next to Kongobu-ji Temple and Konpon Daito, and the hotel's courtyard is absolutely beautiful. The vegetarian meals were also delicious."

"Just amazing. Smack opposite main temple. Walkable to everywhere and the food served by the monks was terrific. Great guided tour on first night by training monk Sake was so informative. If you’re there for two nights then do tour on 2nd night as you’ll better understand things and have more insight."
