Henjoukoin ★★★
"Excellent temple, everything was top-notch. We were greeted by the hostess at the entrance, who was very kind and pleasant. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. In the morning, we were able to attend the head monk's service. Another interesting highlight was a young monk who demonstrated his karate skills on me 😂 (he was drunk, but it was fun). I definitely recommend trying this place."
Koyasan Syukubo Ekoin ★★★
"A very nice experience, the whole experience was very ceremonial. Not only was the one-night stay with two meals excellent, but the morning prayers the following day truly reflected the Buddhist aspirations of people from different countries. I will definitely go again if I have the chance."
Hongakuin ★★★
"Beautiful place, however the information published is not all accurate. Dinner is actually at 6 p.m. while the website says 5 p.m. Moreover, the curfew at 8 p.m. is not indicated on the website. So we missed the evening visit to the cemetery that we had booked and paid for."
Sekishoin ★★★
"Very nice stay, very friendly & welcoming staff and the room we had had the view on the garden which is beautiful! The common area is nice for sitting down for a drink with friends!"
Koyasan Shukubo Jokiin ★★★
"Love the room and activities. The meals are great too. A superb experience."
Koyasan Rengejoin ★★★★★
"The hardware is unique and beautiful! There are two aspects to the software: 1. If you are a true Buddhist, you will feel that the commercial atmosphere is very strong, and the morning and evening classes are irregular. 2. The basic services are not up to standard, such as frozen food. It is disappointing that hot water or water boiling tools are not provided in snowy weather. of!"
Fukuchi-IN ★★★
"We had a delightful stay ar the temple. The room was clean, spacious and well appointed. The food was delicious. And the staff was absolutely superb. We will recommend the temple to any friends planning a trip to Japan."
Shojoshinin ★★
"Our temple stay at Shojoshinin was undoubtedly the most magical moment of our grand trip to Japan. The temple is stunningly beautiful and impeccably clean. We were lucky to get a room with a gorgeous view of the inner courtyard and the forest. We thoroughly enjoyed drinking tea while admiring the scenery. The location is convenient and situated right next to the entrance of the ancient cemetery. This allowed us to easily go for atmospheric walks both in the morning and in the evening. The Buddhist dinner and breakfast were not only beautifully presented but also highly nutritious. The monks were friendly, and we really appreciated the free guided tour of the temple. A truly relaxing and enriching place!"
Komyoin ★★
"A truly special overnight stay. Breakfast and dinner are included (vegetarian), and in the evening you'll meditate. You'll witness morning prayers at 7 a.m., and after breakfast, there's a ceremony to pray for your wishes. It's all truly special. I highly recommend it."

"Modest but clean. Walking distance to Okunion Cemetery."
Koyasan Syukubo Zofukuin
"I stayed here June 6th and 7th 2024 I have stayed at dozens of places in Japan over three months, from temples to hotels, guest houses, and hostels. I am not some person who has only stayed at top hotels then got upset when not knowing what to expect elsewhwere. This was the worst experience BY FAR. There is an extremely rude monk running the place. ***** bath only, which is not listed on the reservation sites. To make matters worse, it is only open for four hours a day in the evening. Want a morning shower or bath? Too bad, it is only open 4 hours in the evening. Want a clean bath? Too bad. There was a giant millipede swimming around in the bath. When I tried to show the monk and didnt take my slippers off in the right place of the bathroom he yelled at me. SHOES HERE NOW! I tried to say look please there is a huge bug (in Japanese) and he yelled again SHOES HERE NOW! NOW! I have no idea how such a rude person became Buddhist, he clearly does not follow his own religion. In every Japanese accommodation there is at bare minimum communal hot water for tea and a microwave. Not here though. When I asked about it the monk acted like I was crazy and gave me an attitude. He left the office at 3:30 and disappeared despite a 5pm closing time. Need info? Too bad."

"It is a modernized monastery with wifi, coffee machine, pretty and comfortable only downside for us Westerners the shared toilets The futon is quite comfortable The vegan food nicely presented and quite tasty Nice village To daire"

"The receptionist was very handsome and friendly, smiling from start to finish, leaving us with a very positive impression. The entire process of check-in, rest, dinner, and morning classes was relaxing and enjoyable. The food, however, is truly hard to describe. Don't go in with too high expectations."

"It's great. The room has a view of the courtyard, and it's beautiful to look out through the window. The staff is very friendly and there are staff who can speak Chinese. Nishizenin is on the side of the path, very quiet, especially in winter, there is no noise at all. The food is good. The dinner is different for two days. The first day is vegetarian, with vegetarian eel and sashimi. The second meal should be pure vegetable. I personally like the second meal. There are morning prayers, paid copying of sutras, drawing of Buddha statues, and Aji Kan meditation. The location is convenient, not far from the gate of Rikoyasan, you can take a bus to Okunoin, and then walk all the way back, without going back."
