Julia's River Camp

Wonderful experience with exceptional personnel who genuinely care for one's every need to ensure 100% enjoyment throughout the visit. Beautifully located inside Masai Mara on the banks of the Talek River with each tent and restaurant overlooking its view. The food is excellent with each delicious dish professionally presented and served this makes for an anticipated enthusiasm for the next meal! Then following a long and highly fulfilling day one falls asleep on the comfortable bed to the valuable bush sounds of hippos snorting and splashing feet away hyenas 'singing' close by and lions roaring regularly. In the morning the same acts as your alarm call! Mark the manager has a true concern for his guests and each small detail is attended to thoughtfully and successfully. I achieved super superb sightings during my 4 nights (wish it were 14) on this unexpectedly amazing first visit to Julia's River Camp although it was my 8th visit to the Mara. The professionalism and consideration cannot be overstated and I have no hesitation in recommending and hopefully return.
Fig Tree Camp - Maasai Mara

We were absolutely happy with our stay at Fig Tree Camp. From the beginning before our trip, we emailed the hotel for airport pickup. There is a charge of $55 USD per person for pickup and $55 USD for return. The closest airstrip to Fig Tree Camp is Ol Kiombo Airstrip. We flew with Fly ALS. We were picked up on time and from the minute we were picked up by Jonathan, the adventure began. You are immediately taken on a safari run. The charge to enter the game reserve is $200 USD per person per day. These prices are as of Dec 2024. We were a party of 4, so the charge was $800 per day. Also, every charge is in USD and not Kenya's currency. There is also a $60 per person for each safari run. So, if you have two safari runs in a day, that is $120 USD per person for that day. I am listing these prices because I was not aware of the different charges before I got there and completely caught me off guard. Make sure to budget for these especially if you have a large party, it can get expensive fast. All of these does not include what you pay for room and food. Outside of the unexpected expenses, the stay was wonderful. We were checked in by Mary at the front desk and Sammy. Both were wonderful our entire stay. Always checking in on us to make sure our needs were being met. We stayed in their River front Deluxe / Ngamboli Tent. We had two tents right next to each other. The tents were very clean, with full working bathrooms and toilets. The tent had two beds, one queen size bed and a smaller twin bed. Right outside our tents, there is a river where the hippos and crocodiles swam. Every night you can hear the hippos from your tent. It sounds like they are right outside your tent door. The camp runs on generator so you only get lights at certain times of the day. I believe from 5am - 9am, 1pm - 3pm and 6pm - 9pm. Don't quote me on those times. But, it was not too bad. It did not bother us at all because we had lights at times when we really needed it. Our camp room fee included food (full buffet - breakfast, lunch and dinner). Food was excellent. No complaints about any of our meals or drinks. We only had to pay extra if we wanted alcohol, soft drinks, coffee and tea were included. We had the same server the entire time we were there. Benson was our server and he was very nice, helpful and attentive to details. Big thank you to Benson for all his assistance. Benson quickly realized that our family likes masala chai. When we showed up to eat, he will immediately place an order with the kitchen to prepare masala chai for us, without us asking him to do it. The chef - Paul - was also great. When we wanted a special meal not on the buffet menu, Paul would go out of his way to make the meal for us. We really appreciated that from him. My wife used the spa services on two different times and Melissa from the spa service worked with her both times. Melissa was very friendly, outgoing and patience. My wife was happy with her massages. Thank you Melissa. We went
Mara Intrepids Tented Camp

This is real Safari. It feels like living in a tent, comfortable, hygienic and safe. Every meal is fine dining carefully prepared. In addition to being professional, the service staff are also very attentive. Make you feel truly at home. I have been on safari in so many places, and this is the most unforgettable one. You need to stay at least three nights to enjoy the true Kenyan wilderness Safari experience.
