Booked the Balthazar because of its perfect location next to Wawel Castle and with short walks to Rynek and Kazimierz, and its wonderful reviews, and it exceeded our high expectations. Loved the unique decor and art (particularly the lobby ceiling), the polished and eager-to-please staff, the lovely eggs benedict on brioche at breakfast, the moody hallways that greeted our return with motion-sensitive lighting, and the convenience of Fiorentino (and other wonderful restaurants) for dinner. Carolina even managed to find us a small-group tour to Auschwitz after KrakowDirect suddenly cancelled the one we booked weeks in advance the night before the morning excursion. Don’t miss the nightly chamber music concerts at 8pm at Saints Peter and Paul’s Church nearly across the street if you’d like to cap your day by hearing Chopin (and other) pieces played in a lovely setting. So glad we chose this hotel and highly recommend it.
